Great Game

Resident Evil has been amped up with new graphics, and a couple of other very nice features. One would be the 180 degree turn which will get you out of a bind more often than you think. Another new feature is the counter-attack ability. If an enemy grabs you (from front only), you can hit the button and your character will use their counter weapon to escape without harm. Their are also new areas added in which will give something new for people who have played the original. All in all the graphics are great the voice acting is alot better than previous titles in the series. So I would have to recomend this game to anyone who loves being scared, because their is no shortage of it.

The best title for the gamecube & a excellent remake.

When I saw some screenshots for this game, I was drooling at the intricate detail that was put into the character models, enemy models & the background. This game is amazing. Everything is redone. The opening movie, voice acting, graphics (obviously), & one gameplay mechanic is added. The 180 degree about face. This helps when you're trying to get away from the enemy very quickly. Also a interesting twist has been added to the zombies. If you don't decapitate the head, or burn them, they'll come back as the ferocious Crimson Heads. There's also a Crimson Head Elder that's a boss that wasn't in the orginal. This is one game that gives you those moments when something will come out of nowhere & make you jump out of your seat. This game is worthy of gamecube owners. This is in my opinion one of the creepiest games for the cube & one of the most pretty (by this I mean excellent work done on the graphics & voices) games. In the character models you can see the ripples in the pants when the characters are moving. This a great game to relive. The controls are still the same practically but with the added 180 turn function.

Enter the Survival Horror

The game Resident Evil is now one of the biggest survival horrors on the Gamecube. It has sold over a million copies and is now Player's Choice. But what makes the game so great? That question is answered in this review.

The graphics in Resident Evil are some of the most spectacular graphics I have ever seen. The so wonderfully polished characters are just eye candy for the videogame fan. The zombies are what you would call "disgusting but beautiful" as their rotting flesh is just pleasently vile. The blood is also a spectacular effect. Blood doesn't just fly and disintigrate in thin air like the average shooter. The blood will actually splatter over walls, scenery, furniture, and items. The blood from the zombies will ooze out, and then settle itself into the carpet. These are some of the best graphics for a Gamecube game.

The sound in Resident Evil is an exquisite combination of music and moans. The blast of the guns, and the splatters of the impact is truly definative. The background music sets the scary mood, and is very manditory to the game.

This game is very fun, and scary at the same time. I definately reccomend this game to any survival horror fan.

Hard, but Fun!!!!!

Resident Evil is one of the Greatest Survival-Horror Games Ever!!!!

Graphics: Words can't even explain how beautiful they are. Looking at the mansion is like 2nd to real. Sometimes I just think that the creators spent their whole time on the graphics then on the rest of the game.

Audio: The audio is PERFECT. Just walking around then hearing a zombie around the corner sends chills down your body.

Gameplay: This game is definitly not a Action-Horror. I learned that while playing Resident Evil (I beat Resident Evil 4 three times before playing this). I thought," If Jill has gun then I'm ok, cause I got as much ammo is I need". I spent almost a whole mag on a zombie AND I'M PLAYING ON EASY. Resident Evil is a Survival-Horror NOT a Action-Horror.

Scare Factor (1-10): I rate it a 4. The game doesn't scare me that much, but that's just me.

Overall: This game is definitly worth buying. I think Resident Evil 0 is ALOT easier then this though. Resident Evil is definitly a must have.

I can't believe it, They made the Original even more scarier

They've taken a classic and totally revamped it. And I must say it's hard to sleep at night. This is the scariest game of all time. Anyone that says different is probably too worried that there man-hood is at stake saying any different. Get it, especially cause its so cheap now.And when your finished, get the Resident Evil 4 which to me is just as good. A gaming classic at it's best!

VERY good game

As the title says this is a VERY good game IF your into survival horror, yeah SURVIVAL horror, your not going to rush into a group of zombies unloading your little amount of ammo into them only to be killed in 30 seconds, anyway it's awesome, the graphics are amazing, no more frames for backrounds and the great graphics make the game even creepier. The sound is also great, making the game creepier. The controls are still crappy, but their not as annoying as people make them sound. The gameplay is still the same but with a few new features but it's still fun, there's also new areas and other things, it's fun killing zombies but you have to know when to avoid battles to conserve ammo and stay alive. Overall it's a great game, don't listen to the low reviews, their probably not into the survival horror genre, but if you are get this game. NOW.

The best so far!

For people that don't know, this is a remake of a classic Playstation game in 1996. This is my first review.
Story: (SPOILERS)July 8,1998. There have been bizarre and disturbing murders in the forest surrounding the mid-western town called Racoon City. STARS, the special police force of the RPD (Racoon Police Department)is called in to investigate. The Bravo Team disapearrs and the Alpha Team is sent to search for them. They get chased by what appears to be demonic dogs. The team gets chased and find a huge mansion just down the path. They are now trapped in. This is where you come in. You have to find a way out of the mansion and fight zombies, mutant dogs, and other creatures along the way.

Graphics: 5/5
Other than the prequel to this game, (Resident Evil Zero), I have never seen a more beautiful looking game. The mansion looks almost completely real. The characters, and zombies look better than Final Fantasy X's graphics! The lighting and shadow effects are also amazing.

Sound: 4/5
There's not a lot of music in this, but the effects make up for that. You can here footsteps, zombie groans coming closer or further away, windows crashing, clocks ticking. But lack of music keeps this from getting a perfect score.

Control:3/5
These are the most awkward controls ever. For the first half hour of playing, you'll have trouble getting around palces and enimies. But they're very responsive.

Overall:5/5
Even including its own sequels, Resident Evil is THE most scariest game. I highly recommend it for a terrifying time.
Pros: -Perfect graphics
-Awesome scares
-Perfect use of sound effects

Cons: -Lack of music
-Bad controls
-You can't hold a lot of items

My favorite game ever by far!

I had never played a Resident Evil game before I bought this game. I didn't know what to expect, but I had high hopes. And man, I sure wasn't disappointed. Resident Evil lives up to any expectation you can ever have. I had read reviews for it before buying it, (only two days after its release) and read that the controls are terrible and too hard to get used to. I read the manual and began playing and the controls were simple. It took me about two minutes to get completely used to every control for the game. My first time through I began with the Hiking (Easy) difficulty, but go slightly bored due to the lack of zombies. So I began playing on Mountain Climbing (Normal) and had tons of fun finding the best way to maneuver around monsters. However I've now played Resident Evil so many times I've memorized everything in the game. So due to this I have unlocked everything possible, including the Rocket Launcher. It's not too difficult to tell some of you, my total time was actually 1:46:02, and yes, it was the Hard difficulty. Sorry if I'm bragging... Now, let's review shall we?

Graphics
The graphics in Resident Evil are superb, the best graphics I've seen on a console. The lighting and shadow effects are excellent, especially dealing with flames. And character models are superb. Monsters are almost too realistic. And of course the Mansion, Residence, Caverns, and Laboratory are all excellent looking. The layout is also very easy to memorize.

Gameplay
The gameplay is excellent. A lot of people say the controls are clunky and too hard to use. But they aren't hard at all. I had them mastered in no time.

Audio
The music in Resident Evil is another thing that makes it so great. Some parts the music makes the game very very intense. Other times it gives you the feeling that there's something close to you... The sounds made by the monsters and everything is also excellent. Hearing a zombie moan in the distance is great. Also shooting a zombie makes a cool sound. Hearing the sound of a zombie walking towards you always brings the feeling of dread.

Replay Value
Resident Evil has an awesome replay value. With all the unlockables. Which I will now mention. Samurai Edge Handgun, Rocket Launcher, Real Survival Mode, Invisible Enemy Mode, One Dangerous Zombie. I think I've covered them all. How's that replay value seem now?

scariest game...ever

So there I am with a gamecube, wondering how I'll ever fill my adult gaming library, what with titles like metroid and wind waker. (good games, but I'm twenty-one and itching to see some blood somewhere...)And I figure, well, I own and have played every other Resident Evil game to date, minus the GB Advance one, so why not this one? Well, the thought which crossed my mind, as I'm sure has crossed many other fan's minds, was how much different can it be? After all, it's really just a remake of the original for PS, right? Well, let me tell you something ladies and gentlemen, anybody with these reservations should banish them immediately. While the core gameplay and plot remain unchanged, story elements have been altered, a few new enemies have sprung up, and a whole bunch of new areas are included. Fortunately, many of the old puzzles have changed as well, which makes this a good reason in itself to warrant its purchase. But the real draw here is the graphics. They are superb as a standalone category, but when coupled with the eerie music and backdrops of the mansion and surrounding area, this game doles out the 'scary-factor' in spades. A title which I had previously reserved for Slent Hill 1, the new RE officially takes the 'scariest game ever' category. Yeah, I know I said I was 21, and I'm not usually a big wuss, but I'll tell you, playing this game at three in the morning alone in your room really gets your heart going. I was literally afraid to open doors not knowing what monstrosity waited on the other side, my gun poised for whatever made a sound. And the first time I ever saw one of those crimson heads (zombies whom have been felled but not disposed of properly,) come running at me, I nearly pissed my pants. The developers did an awesome job of creating realistic, atmospheric environments, complete with creaky floorboards and swaying shadows to scare the bejeezus out of you. Also, the voice acting and scripting are leaps and bounds over the original. ( A point I'm sure a lot of fan's are somehow upset about...) All in all, the best RE to date, after RE:3 IMO. Buy it if like the others, or are really dying for a good scare-fest. One point I should mention, though, is the control. For seasoned vets, the control scheme is exactly as it has always been in the past, so no worries there. Newbies might find it a bit awkward or disorienting, though, so be patient. Otherwise, the control is tight, and the gameplay outstanding in a sort of rehashed, tried-but-true way.

Best Remake Ever

First there was Resident Evil for the PSX back in 1996 . It was a major blockbuster hit . The characters , graphics , enemies , combat system , everything was up to date and good . As the years past by there have been new additions to the Resident Evil series including 4 new sequels . But as time went by , the story changed alot and it didnt match with what was said and done in the first and original Resident Evil . To clear up the confusion in the storyline , Capcom and shinji Mikami made a remake for the Nintendo Gamecube due to the great graphics and improved RAM .

First of all , The story is great . Small suburban town , Raccoon City has been having numerous murders , so the local police departement sends in the S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Squad) BRAVO team in to investigate the happening in the Raccoon Forests up in the Arklay Mountains where the most of the murders seem to be happening . Soon , the police departement loose contact with the BRAVO team so they send in the ALPHA team to investigate and rescue the lost teammates . But when the Alpha team arrives in the forest , they're immediately on the run from Mutant Dogs while their coward helicopter pilot flies away in fear . The team find a giant mansion in the middle and decide to hide out there . But what they dont know is that the mansion is infested with bio-engineered creatures and Flesh eating zombies . But what are monsters doing in a secluded mansion in the middle of a massive forest ? And why are there human corpses coming to life as blood thirsty zombies inside the mansion ? If you thought monsters weren't real , you guessed wrong .

The story evolves alot through the game and you find out secrets about your fellow teammates you wouldnt have even guessed .

The sound and Graphics are superb. The lighing system from Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons Of liberty's cutscenes were used . The characters and details look Amazing and actully look real . And I'm not exaggerating either . Take a look at some screen shots of the game and you'll know what I mean . Its the most realistic video game I have ever seen . And I guarantee , you'll think so too .

What are you waiting for ? If you have a Gamecube , go out and buy this immediately !
