Soul Calibur is a classic example of all icing and no cake! The game looks great and sounds great, but its too easy. The game that is supposed to be the game for "die hard fighting fans" is basically a walk in the park. The game is a button masher! I played the game and found that "turtling up" and waiting for the right time to attack or throw is all that it takes to succeed and it even works on the higher dificulty settings.
My major gripe about the game is the dark and demonic story lines. No God fearing person should touch this "demon sword wielding" game (I began to discover the different plots after I played it). I'm not trying to sound like a fanatic but come on why all the demon intense plots in a generally evil game. What sick minds came up with this anyway?
If the game had a better plot (one that involved some thought) then it would be a classic, but as it stands...no.

Soul Calibur is a martial arts two person fighter game with an intricate plot, extremely accurate martial art forms and katas, great 3d animated movements, great 3D models, and a gameplay that is near perfect. While it is a little difficult at first to get started (unless you choose a button pushing character like Hwang or Sung Mena), the complexity of the various combos, special moves, timings, the soul and spirit charge, and additional features make for a game that is enjoyable to play for years. At first, the eight directional move is a little awkward, but once you get it mastered it's second nature. Also, mastering 8 directional move is the key to dodging and countering, which are your best friends in this game!
Soul Calibur for Dreamcast

Soul Calibur is one of the funnest games I've ever played! The graphics are outstanding and so are the characters especially Kilik who is one of my favorites. Another good thing about the characters is that they are all very different from eachother unlike some of the older and more similar games like the Tekken games, and the Mortal Kombat series, and Virtua Fighter.
But all games have positives and negatives. Once when I was playing Soul Calibur at my cousin's house, my character was knoched down by the 2 player who was Yoshimitsu and before I could get back up again he just kept on hitting me and hitting me until I was K.O. (knocked out). Which really stunk! So far I haven't had any other problems with this game so if you have a Dreamcast and you don't have this game I highly recomend getting it or at least renting it if you could. Another piece of advice-Dreamcast games are sometimes hard to find like for example at the TOYS 'R' US at Blossom Hill dosen't have any Dreamcast games whatsoever. Target and maybe Wal-Mart hve Dreamcast games. But my mom usually buys my Dreamcast games on the internet.
All around challenging game

Soul Caliburn is not unique, it's not ground breaking but it's most likely the best game for Dreamcast I've ever played... If your choosing between this and Airforce Delta, Sonic, or Ready 2 Rumble. BUY THIS! Its worth the money, and its fun to play multi-player.
Its a great game for those who like horses.

I've been an avid horse rider for many years and didn't expect a fighting game to appeal to my equestrian needs. The stallions and mares in this game dazzled my senses. When I buckled the saddle onto Kilik's back yelled out "giddyup" and pressed start I could almost feel the wind in my hair.this game is truly dazzling

This game is great, Though I generally like the gore and guts of some games, and this game has none, it more then makes up for it with the flawless interface, awesome graphics, and ease of learning the basic controls. I strongly reccomend it, specially if you're looking for a game with few offensive graphics.

I simply cannot comprehend someone labeling this game less than five. Regardless of what some wagglers say the control is perfect, they say that a novice slapping buttons can beat them, and so it encourages that sort of gameplay. Well if you're an expert you can batter their weapon to the side and rip them to shreds. The characters are incredibly rendered, you can actually muse over their expressions, the backgrounds literally are beautiful. What more can one ask? this is the best that has ever arrived graphically, the control is excellent and the characters themselves are innovative and appealing, even Voldo in his own way. It makes everything short of FMVs look like cheap crap, and there is much to do... this game is worth buying the system for...

I love the game, it rules. The mission levels are sooo much fun because they just keep getting harder and harder and because when you bet thim you can get new stuff. Even the girls a pretty hot on this game. I would reccomend this game to kids above 12.
