Namco Always Does Make The Classics

When Namco introduced Pole Position, they revolutionized gaming forever. When Namco introduced Dig Dug, they revolutionized gaming forever. When Namco introduced Pac-man, they revolutionized gaming forever. When Namco introduced Soul Calibur...you know the rest.

The unanimous vote for best fighting game ever made was given to this game. Soul Calibur is indeed the best fighting game ever made. With seemingly endless "goodies," intense battles, beautiful artwork, incredible graphics, Namco has once again revolutionized gaming forever (surprise!). With nineteen playable characters (I think), this game never ends.

There is a Mission Battle mode in which you fight battles to earn points which, in turn, will buy cards with artwork on them. Some cards unlock costumes, some unlock whole levels. A few unlock whole new modes. That's all I have to say about this, except for: BUY THIS GAME!!

I LUV IT

You know, the only reason I wanted Dreamcast was for this game. I didn't care for other games except this game. THIS GAME rockS!! The graphics are the best I have every seen and there are like 100 moves for each charator. The great thing about this is that you can unlock charactors after you have beaten the game with other charators. THere is also mission mode where you go on "small mission" and then you can unlock stuff like stages and special features There is practice mode which I find very useful because I can practice my moves without getting disturbed or attacked by other players. My personal favorite is Maxi because I luv the Nunchaku and the moves look so good and his moves are easy and powerful. My least favorite charactor is Yoshimitsu because he is weak and doesn't have very powerful attacks. I have the prima official strategy book and that tells be all the secrets about this awesome game. Let me tell you a little about the story line. THere was once a night of Cervantes and he had the soul Blade. He was a great Knight and ruled for many years until Taki and Sophita destroyed the(all these charators you can play in the game). So One day, a young german knight named Siegfried came across Cervantes body. THe body burst into flames and Siegfried is now Nightmare. You are trying to get the soul edge and deafeat inferno.
This game is very interesting because of its story and the way the charactors battle. There is going to be a SOul CAlibur 2 for Playstation 2, Gamecube, and XBOX! I can't wait to get it because this game is the best game of all time. I still think that this game is the only good game for dreamcast! They sohld make this game for every system like the Tony Hawk series becase this is a great fighting game.
Let me tell you about Maxi. His weapon is the nunchaku and it is very fast and only very experienced people could see his moves soming. They are also very coolto watch. You might find yourself trying to do those moves(I tried to do them) He has a lot of combos.
The most powerful person is Nightmare. He has the Soul Blade and can destroy a lot of things in his way. But beware! His moves are sooo slow, everyone can counter them!
The weakest person I would say is Taki or another chinese girl. THe are fast and efficient but you would find yourself trying to puch and pull. They aren't that strong. To make up their strengh, they have quick speeds and fast attacks.
Here is a study for the boss, inferno. He is a flame and to my opinion the hardest to beat. He only has like 4 moves of his own but every time you battle him, he can be one of any of the fighters. When I mean that, He has a same weopon as that fighter and the same moves but He is still a ball of flame. His moves are really powerful and you can like take the person out in like 3 moves. His stage is in Space and very creepy compared to some of the other stages.
Edge master is just like Inferno except he doesn't have any "only him" moves. He is the master of weapons but not as powerful as Inferno. He is a old man who has a very long beard. His hair is either red or white depending on his costume.
AHH. Soul Calibur is a excellent game and I hope if you have a dreacast, BUY THIS GAME

thanks for taking the time to read my review

I've been playing fighting games for some time, since the first Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II on the SNES, and I've played games that are newer than Soul Calibur. The fact remains, however, this is the best fighting game I have ever played, hands down. The graphics are stunning, the controls are natural and flowing, and gameplay is incredibly smooth. I can't give this game enough praise. After renting a Dreamcast and Soul Calibur, this game became the #1 reason that I purchased a Dreamcast of my own. I can only hope that Soul Calibur 2 for the Gamecube nears the perfection attained by its predecessor.

As good as fighting games get.

I grew up playing Mortal Kombat. I was a fan of the series up to it's 3D debut, when it really began spiraling down-hill. Soul Calibur is the first 3D fighter that I felt is worth the buy. It has a deep storyline, as deep as fighting games get. It includes TONS of secrets that can be accessed by playing through the games on various modes. The graphics are the best you can find on ANY system. Buy the game if you even remotely like fighting games. If you don't... what is wrong with you?

This game was the best thing that came from the Dreamcast, aside from HOUSE OF THE DEAD. This was one of my main reasons for getting the Dreamcast. The graphics were awesome and the replay to this game was great.

The second installment of the very popular Arcade smash Soul Blade, had much better graphics than the first, very fluid fights, new characters that rocked (and also a surprise cameo by Tekken's Yoshimitsu). Plus a lot of new weapons and fighting styles like a 3/4 staff, a sword with a chain attached to it, the Shaolin sword style and even some returing favorites like the short sword and Samurai sword.

This game rocked! I still play this game eventhough the Dreamcast is more or less no more. This is a great game, if yuou have a Dreamcast, you need this game. It's almost a requirement!

The best fighting game on Dreamcast period!!!

One of the first games ever released for the Dreamcast, and one of the best, Soul Calibur is amazing from start to finish. The graphics, control, special features, and fighting engine are superb, and this is the one game that if you own a Dreamcast you must have this as well. However, good luck finding it, when the Dreamcast came out, it sold pretty quickly, and Namco only released the game in limited quanitites, but this is one hell of a game, and its a better investment to buy a Dreamcast and this game rather than lay down 50 bucks for a single game on any of the other systems.

Great game that keeps your entertained for hours!

So I'm sure you've played fighting games before, well forget "Mortal Kombat", and "Tekken" because "Soul Calibur" is the new wave of fighting games. "Soul Calibur" isn't just a fighting game, it contains other great elements such as Misson battles in which you are given a mission by the game to complete. And in completing the mission you are given points to unlock items in the Art Gallery which contains drawings and artwork from the game (very interesting to look at might I add!). The game also allows you to unlock new characters as well as choose another look for your character. This game is very entertaining as it breaks the rules of fighting games. Because it isn't JUST a fighting game, there is so much more you can do. There also are other modes such as "Time Attack" and "Survival" that put you against the CPU in a race for time. The background music is wonderful, the graphics are ahead of their time, and its great to hear the characters speak in Japanese. Again, this is a superb game this is worth owning a Dreamcast for!

Pretty graphics

Soul Calibur has some great graphics but it's to bad the game play is so lame. The game is easy to beat on the hardest difficulty just by button mashing. The fighting is nice but not nearly as complex as some other good fighters out there i.e. Virtua Fighter 3tb or Power Stone. The arenas while all having a different shape all play the same in the end. There is really no point in buying this game unless you want a mediocre fighter with very little replay value.

Awesome!

This game is great! If you've played 'Soul Edge' for Playstation and liked it, you'll love this! Beautiful graphics, smooth gameplay, tons of characters and moves, and tons of fun!

I've played this game over and over and over, and I can't get enough. You can play one-player in a variety of different modes (even more modes when you beat the game). You can get up to twice as many characters by beating the game also. And when you finally get bored with that... battle a friend. It never get's old!

awesome, power packed delivery of fighting fun

if you own dreamcast, you must own this game - it is truly unbelievable - the only downfall is character cloning whick grows tiresome - when will game makers learn? Really a great game - be sure to USE the mission option - its packed with secrets and fun!
