Most fighting games are old and tired. Push this button to do that move. Soul Calibur has renewed my interest in the genre. With the ability to open up new characters and fighting arenas, one is reminded of the Tekken series. With excellent graphics and easy play, this will be a Dreamcast classic.
Soul Calibur will kick your tail.

This game involves a whole lot of strategy, not common with the button mashing games around these days. You actually have to think about how and when to land an attack, and see if you can continue it into a combo or two. Throws are impressive and, while not realistic in any sense of the word take alot of thinking to do because they alter in regards to your direction to the opponent. There is a high degree of playability when two controllers are attached and some really good matches can occur between some seasoned players. All in all, an awesome game. Graphics, sound and control are all awesome!

Namco has had a long line of good fighting games (Teken 1,2, and 3), that line has been upheld with this excelent fighting game which has outdone all other of the Sega Dreamcast's other fighting games so far. The graphics as well as the style of the game are two of the largest reasons why to choose this game over any other dreamcast fighting game. I recemend this game to any fighting fan that isn't just looking for blood.
Greatest fighting game of the year!

This is personally a favorite of mine. The characters themselves are great (my friends and I made some jokes, especially with Maxi and Mitsurugi!). The secret characters of the game are Seigfried (and Roy), Seung Mina, Hwang, Lizard Man, Rock (super water buffalo!), Edge Master, Inferno (it's true! btw, he is also Cervantes of the original Soul Edge), and Yoshimitsu (cameo from Tekken?). One intresting trick: first play as any character except Xianghua. After you beat your stage 7 sub-boss, watch the cinema. They'll block Inferno's glare. After you beat the game (or lose), do it again with Xianghua. You'll be suprised of what her sword (formerly her mother's) will do!
THE BEST GAME EVER!!

My mother bought this game for me for my birthday a few years ago. THis game is the greatest fighting game I have ever played PERIOD. The graphics are outstanding. (The characters move their mouths correctly to every sylable) The fighting arenas are incredibly detaild. And you just don't get tired of it. Great for people looking for a superb fighting game. AND THE BEST PART, Unlockable Characters.
Absolutely the epitome of fighting games.

Soul Calibur is awesome. No other fighting game that I've played (and I played countless fighting games) could even compare to Soul Calibur. The fluid animations, realistically rendered characters and backgrounds, and the particle effects are just simply amazing. Besides the graphics and animations, the gameplay has long lasting replay value with a plethora of features waiting for you to unlock.
If you like fighting games, Soul Calibur is a must in your collection. If you have never played any fighting game, Soul Calibur must be the first fighting game that you'd want to play.
Anyway, fighting games, there is only one, Soul Calibur.

Soul Calibur is one of the funnest video games I've played. In a way, it is a lot like the series of Tekken games (Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, and Tekken Tag Tournament...Even the characters are very similar. One of the differences between the two games is that in all the Tekken games you use your hands, fist, feet, and your head, to fight...But in Soul Calibur, all the characters have either swords or knives, and one of the characters whoes name is Kilik, has a wooden stick or something similar to one that he uses to fight with. So if you have either a Sega Dreamcast, which has Soul Calibur, or a Playstation 2, which has Soul Calibur 2, I recomend getting one of these two games.

Me and my friends can not stop playing this game. Its the best for two players and even single player. If you have not played the missions you are missing out on lots of fun. If you have a Dreamcast then BUY this game.
