Itýs a shame that it has so many bugs

I liked it, but felt that it is let down by a large number of bugs. Is there anyone out there who has managed to get this to run perfectly from the CDs alone, without spending a lot of time downloading updates? If there is to be a Neverwinter Nights 2, then I would ask the software publishers to ship a finished product, and not one that requires a lot of troubleshooting.

Awesome Game :)

i read other peoples posts on the offcial forums and i saw that many people complained about the game so i decided to download the warez version to check it out and it was awesome except for the fact that after 10-15 mins of gameplay it froze up, so i thought maybe it does that because its the warez versoin so i went on ebay and bout the game and sure enough it did the same thing, but i didnt give up so i posted on the forums for a few days with my problem and i found many similar posts with the same problem as mine, then 1 guy told my that you cant use the newest ATI drivers and to install the older drivers so i did that and now its runner soo smooth and i just love this game, as for the toolset.. thatsone of the best parts, im currently working on and adventure set in a village called crimmor and the options are just awesome. well all i have to say is this game is great i give it 5 stars

Great game...

Since I did not play any multiplayer games, I'm going to focus on the single-player campaign that ships with the game. I really enjoyed this game. I bought it on a whim, because I needed a new game to play (I was bored with D2) and because the pictures on the box looked nice. I brought it home, installed it, started playing it, and was hooked. This was one of those games that kept me up all night playing (nevermind the fact that I had to work the next day), the kind of game that totally immersed me in the playing experience. I neglected my kids and husband to play this (just one more level, I promise! :) ). And, after I beat it once, I started again with a different character. The replay value is great; my new character, a spell-caster, plays WAY different from my melee character I had before.

The only problem that I had with running it was the "lack of virtual memory" screen. Don't know why it kept coming up, especially in the latter stages of the game, but it was annoying. Other than that, I enjoyed it intensely; heck, I still do. Buy it and have fun.

Neverwinter is a fantastic D&D based game. The contincue to release expantions making it more and more like d&D. All of your favorite classes and weapons are all right here. What i say is to buy it for the online value. Single player indeed gets old after a while, but online the game is amazing. Its replay value is infiniate. There are Tons of servers out there. I think the best is Anphillia, Buy the game and check it out!

It just never ends....

I purchased this game when I got a new computer. That was at the end of September. I play it every chance I get. There are almost 2000 modules that you can download and a ton of stuff online, from Persistant Worlds that are like Everquest to Person vs. Person that feel like Unreal. There are guilds where you can join up with people and play online, or create your own modules and universe. This is the one game that every gamer should have in their library.

Excellent!

Hours and hours of fun! Our group of friends is constantly swapping home made modules. Always trying to outdo each other.

As a long time CRPG player,I would have to say that it was a great disapointment.(considering the LONG wait and all the Hoopla)
Unless your SCRIPT litterate (which MANY people are not) the Builder is almost useless, and the reference/source book that comes with the game gives NO real help about basic scripting within the NWN Builder.
Multiplayer issues....suffice it to say it's Gamespy supported ; anyone that plays multi a lot will know what I'm talking about.
Singleplayer play is MODERATELY amusing/entertaining with some new and interesting aspects.
All in all,I figure it wasnt worth what I payed for it.(but it would HAVE been if Bioware had released some basic NWN scripting help (in the package) AND if they had coughed up a SMALL portion of my 50 bucks to support a decent server interfaced specifically for NWN.)

What can I say?

Unbelievable. As someone who has played IWD, and Baldur's gate and thought they were incredible games, NWN has one-upped them again and again. I am on my 11th time through NWN. I just can't stop playing. The graphics, the interface, the game engine, the music, ALL top notch in my opinion. The story is kind of cheesy at times, and I wish I had more control over my henchmen, but other than that, every time I try to go back and play one of the older RPG's I get bored in a few minutes and start again with NWN. If you are a RPG fan, you can't go wrong with Neverwinter Nights.

The only thing i liked about this game is the charecter development. There's plenty of classes with many perks, skills, and spells. Gameplay is alright, but the storyline isn't super. You can play on online servers with custom mods, but they're too laggy in my opinion.

The game that has not been seen properly

As said above, i call this game the game that has not been seen properly. I will try to highlight what is actually available:

1. The single player.
This is a campaign which i rate highly as part of the game, there is a prelude which will give you the basics on how to use and play the game which is useful for beginners. The main plot is seen by alot of people as bad because it is quite linear and there is a lack of having a party etc. But alot of people fail to see that the story is interesting and fun, and a display of the power of the toolset, for it was created with it. I would say that this section is perfect for people that have just bought the game.

2. Multi-player.
Multi player is probably where this game excels to most gamers; it is fun and enjoyable most of the time. When played with friends it proves well, and is good in that sense, but aswell you can play with other people. When you get good people in the game it is extremely fun and you get the chance to co-operate, if you get a worse pick of people it still proves fun, although not so much. This section of the game is extremely fun, and the place to get the most out of Neverwinter Nights.

3. The toolset.
The Aurora toolset is a powerful tool, it allows you to create anything from a beginners dungeon crawl, to a complete and engulfing story-driven campaign. It gives lots of options and when used properly can be fun and great. There are lots of wizards in this to make it easy for beginners aswell as fast for veterans. When you are good with the toolset you can make adventures and get your friends to play in it! I would say that this is the weapon behind the game, this is what can keep you playing on the game for ages, because there are lots of modules you can already download from various sites if you want a new adventure.

4. The Dungeon Master (DM) Client.
This is where i have ventured the least in NWN. The DM Client allows you or someone else to control and change an adventure for others in multiplayer. You can change most aspects of any module, anything from spawning creatures to make it harder, to adding special items if you want some loot around, posessing creatures and making them do what you want, even changing the whole plot! This is a fun tool to use, one of the highlightable things is customising and changing an adventure, while your friends are trying to get through it!

Neverwinter Nights is a brilliant game, albeit underrated that can make many hours of fun, by yourself or with your friends, i would reccomend this game to nearly everyone...
