I got this game as a gift after having my wisdom teeth removed (wink). It works wonderfully. The graphics are great. Hair and clothing/armor movement are excellent, and shaddows just add that little cherry on the top. I am running the game at about medium settings (1024x768) and can't wait to play it on my new machine I'm building; there are sooo many different options like wind settings for grass (I'm guessing that grass will wave in the wind or something like that) different shadow modes, and texture quality. Another great feature is built-in Anti Aliasing (I have never seen this before!), though I don't use this feature because I dont want to tax my machine any more.
oh, and level (aka Module) design is a sinch.
I have had only a couple of problems playing the game. The first is that if you press the windows button (next to the alt button) it'll swich you out of the game and can crash slower machines. The other is random freezes for a moment I get when entering a new room. Granted these problems could be fixed with more ram or a faster CPU (having WindowsME certainly dosnt help the issues either).
I haven't tried multiplayer yet, But from the reviews I've read it should be spectacular.
The package includes:
3 disks (2 install 1 play)
a huge manual (at least 100-150 pages)
Quick key sheet
and a cloth map of the world (or at least parts of it).
One word of wisdom I would give people who are looking to buy this game: Make sure you have a pretty good machine. Otherwise you'll be stuck in low settings or run the game poorly. This game diserves more.
Dungeons and Dragons fans will love this game.

I have never been as pleased with a game as I have been with Neverwinter Nights. The actual 'game' that you play when you buy it seems a bit weak and didn't keep me entertained. Honestly, though, that isn't why I bought this game. NWN is about Dungeons and Dragons on the computer. A Dungeon Master can create an adventure and through the online play, have friends from across the world play through it.
The scripting is easy but for those who don't want to take the time to learn it, the community is vibrant and enthusiastic more than willing to churn out whatever you want. Most likely, whatever you want, someone else has thought of and already posted it to one of the massive archives.
This is one game that much like the table-top D&D, you will be playing for years to come.
Simply irresistible for Everyone

It is simply the greatest legend in Role Playing History. Morrowind and Dungeon Siege are mere apprentice of this NeverWinter Nights. The Graphic is very astonishing as well as the aspects of the game. Just like Bioware mentioned, it's unlimited replayability comes from the Aurora Toolset which is included in package. By using that toolset, you can create your own world of gaming very easily and also very deeply. Multiplay is awesome also because of its innovative feature, the Dungeon Master. Sounds, interface, speed and graphics are just perfect for such an complicated role playing game. I would have given it 10 stars if it was available.
An Outstanding RPG

After days in my office playing this game, I have finally emerged victorious. The traitors have been slain, and the bosses have been slaughtered. Neverwinter Nights (NWN) was one of the most gripping and fun-filled role-playing game I've played. It was another game put out by the Forgotten Realms(FR) franchise, and as most gamers know, all the preceeding FR games were great. But with NWN, it raised the standards for not only Forgotten Realms games, but RPGs in general.
First of all, let us discuss the plot. A plague has struck the prosperous city of Neverwinter, and yes you (the hero)after some training, will be the one to solve the problems of this city. As the storyline progresses, it becomes more and more desperate, which is key for a good RPG. It is fabulously written, and once again, the Forgotten Realms are brought to life.
The graphics were good, but the character models/skins seemed a little dated, but not enough to take away from the gameplay. The environment graphics were fantastic, as were the weather and spell effects.
Since the game uses Dungeons & Dragons rules (3rd Edition), the combat isn't totally involving, but it still requires strategy. The level of strategy depends on your character class. If you choose a wizard, more skill is required than if you were to choose a fighter.
Neverwinter Nights is a great RPG, and will go down in PC Gaming history as one of the best stories ever told in a PC game.
love it - worth every penny

I rarely buy games on day 1. I was there for this one, and paid full price for it. It was worth every penny. I pretty much blew right past the single player game and dove right into the campaign editor. I now host a small (but fun!) persistent world and it's a lot of fun. Looking forward to the expansion.
Great game, bad presentation

Neverwinter Nights is truly one of the best RPGs I have ever played, and indeed I enjoyed it very much. Much congrats to Bioware. However one thing that had me troubled was the skimpy presentation (the packaging). Normally I don't complain about this sort of things, but really, why not spend the extra money so the game CD at least comes in a decent case. The paper envolope is not an excuse just because this game has been in development for so long. Overall, besides the poor packaging, everything else about the game certainly kicked... I also look forward to Icewind Dale II and Warcraft III.
ALMOST Perfect

First off let me say I like this game alot. I have played I believe all of the bioware D&D games, Baldurs Gate, I,II,Throne,Planescape and Icewind Dale. So far my favorites have been Baldurs Gate 2 and Planescape. If you played any of those games and liked them you will love this game. In case you are wondering why this game only got 4 stars, I thought it was a step down from Baldurs Gate 2. There were no different quests for different classes. I really enjoyed the diferent replay value and the way so much of BG2 was designed around your individual classes. I realize one of the great things about NN is that you can make your own modules and build them how you would like too, but I really missed this built into the single player game. God knows they had plenty of time to do it. I think I have been hearing about this project for at least 3 years.
If you ever liked D&D this is a must buy.
Perfect Game.

Greate game, but i can not understand how anybody can sell it if he/she already used it? If You want to play on interner(multiplayer games) you need unique CD-KEY and if you do not buy this game from official dealer you risk, that the cd-key will be already registered to someone else.
This game rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My review title says it all. If you have this game and are having problems don't give up once you get this game running right, it rocks. I bought this game and brought it home, got on the net and read some reviews and posts on some forums. and was scared i'd have problems with the game. Most of the posts were from people with high end machines and they were having some major problems. So i got through install with no problems, updated with no problems, then started my game. Got through character generation, and the game cinematics were great looking but very slow. So i tried a few things to try and fix this problem, first i tried closing all programs running except for the once absolutely necessary, and defintely disabled all my virus scan programs. next i updated my video card drivers from my cards manufacturers website. So the next day the 1.18 update was released and after i downloaded it and it was patched to my game. well lets just say that's when i went from a 1 star rating on this game to a 5 star. this game really rocks. so don't give up hope. this game is worth a little hassle trust me. I am very happy with this game. And incase you are wondering about my machine it's 3 and a half years old. So if i can get it to work perfectly so can you. Here are my systems stats. p3 466 mhz, 224 mb, pny nvidia geforce 3 video card, audigy gamer sound card. see a very outdated system and running this game perfectly. just keep trying, i promise it's worth it.

I didnt try the multiplayer, but the single player is really really boring. Its very slow.. and dull. Its more like a BOOK, than a game. There is alot of reading to do. I played for about an hour, and I have no urge whatsoever to play it again. The graphics are very poor. It is alot like IceWind Dale, which I thought was equally boring. If you like action and most importantly: FUN, I would definately suggest Blizzard titles like Warcraft3 and Diablo2 instead.
