Time for everyone to give their yearly fifty to EA Sports

Is this a fun game? Sure it is. It looks great. Play is fun too, the create-a-player feature is cool...

...and yet, this game leaves me feeling rather ho hum. The Madden series has evolved over the years, and across platforms, but at the end of the day it's the same old Madden with more makeup on. Maybe the beta version I got to fool with was stripped down, but almost everything looks very, very familiar as far as how the game is built.

If PS2 is going to have lots of sports games, I strongly suggest Sony go the Dreamcast route and produce their own sports disks specifically for PS2. With Madden being a PS2/PSX/PC product, created generally for a variety of platforms, EA will never totally optimize a sports game to take advantage of the higher power the PS2 provides.

I have been playing Madden NFL for 10 years or so. Started on the genesis and most recently I bought 2001 for the Playstation 1. Ya ya ya, same ol' same ol'. Some new features and improvements here and there... But, the PC version and the Playstation 1 versions cannot hold a candle to the PSX2 version. Madden has always set the standard for other football games to try and copy. This new PSX2 version will be the most spectacular football video game ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN. Early indications are that the release of Madden 2001 PSX2 will set all the competitors back about 5 years. It will also mark a new standard by which all football games will try and follow. I have seen them all, this is as realistic as it gets !!! If your wondering if it is worth paying 500 dollars to play it on Oct 26th (500 after you buy hardware and all) ?? My opinion is that I would buy it if it cost 1000 dollars. There has never been a game more technologically advanced, ever. The release will be historical.

How do people review stuff before it comes out?

I'm sure this is going to be a great game(I pre-ordered a copy) but how do these people know seemingly everything about the game beforehand? It's not out yet!!

Listen. I know this game hasn't come out yet, but it HAS come out in japan(why would they have an american football game in japan? dont ask me!). I played my friend's imported version of the game and it was great! First of all, the graphics were amazing. No I'm not just talking about the cutscenes, the entire game's video quality was good. Plus the PS2 port's controls were a lot easier to use than Nintendo 64's football videogames (i.e. NFL Blitz, Madden 64). This would be a great first game for your Playstation 2 collection. Just remeber to get an extra controller.

Why would you get PS2 in the first place. I have PS2 and my bro had DC, and I highly reccomend DC. The games are 1000 times better, along with the playability. PS2 STINKS! Don't get this game, or PS2, get NFL 2K1 and DC, BELIEVE ME!

Madden 20001 for PS2 is going to be the best game EVER. I haven't played it as of yet, however, I have seen movies and screen-shots of the game. It is so smooth and it looks just like the real thing. While watching one of the movies online, someone walked up behind me and thought I was watching a live feed of an actual game (it was Sunday so it could have been) It is just SO amazing. I have one on pre-order and so should you!!!

So what if is not out yet, Madden 2001 is and will be the best football game for the PS2. I feel that my thumbs will need medical attention after the launch. Sony The One And Only.

Ok I agree Ps2 Is powerful, and it has a lot of perks. The Dvd is a great feature, and a few of them games look good, but open your eyes. Dreamcast is half the price, and has over 200 good games, over 50 of them are AAA games. As for Madden NFL 2001, It is a good game, I have no doubt, but it is not the best football game. NFL 2k1 for dreamcast has as good as graphics, more options and INTERNET PLAY. With Dreamcast and NFL2k1 You can play anyone anywhere with dreamcast, isn't that a feature that PS2 sure doesn't have. As for the dvd, for the price of PS2 you can buy a dvd player and dreamcast. Oh and by the way, you can actually buy a dreamcast now, unlike the 6-12 month wait for ps2.

Stood in line for hours... no dissappointment!

Sony has done it again. Stood in line at Walmart for 4 hours and finally got PSX2. Set it up as soon as I got home and it is simply AMAZING. Be sure to get Madden 2001... be sure to get PSX2. wow... just, wow.
