Best Football Game Ever

Madden 2001 is simply the best. The game play is fluid, and easy to play. The AI is smart enough to limit your progress, while not engulfing you with a swarming defense. The graphics are fantastic. I really enjoy seeing the actual faces, names and numbers on the players. This is the most advanced football game in terms of graphics.

Although the game play is superb, I do have a few dislikes with the game, but they are truly minor. With all the techno gadgets put in this game (names, numbers, faces), I'm very suprised to see that the kicking game is so poor. First, there are no left footed kickers. Again, that's nothing major, but as a NFL fan, it's hard to see Morten Andersen kicking with his right foot. Also, you can only kick the onside kickoffs to the left side. Where's the suprise factor? With games moving at a breakneck speed, it would have been better to speed up the break in between scoring a TD/PAT and getting ready to kickoff the next position.

Other than these minor setbacks, the game is well designed. 5 stars all the way. If you're thinking about purchasing Gameday 2001, don't waste your time and money. Madden blows that away and then some.

This is a very, very cool game. This was my first purchase for the PS2 console and it is a gem. EA Sports has done a nice job with this title. It is a load of fun and you will do yourself a favor if you pick it up. If you are into football like I am, you will love it.

If you are looking for the most realistic game, this is the one! No doubt, they have upgraded this game so much from last year, that last years game plays like it was made 5 years ago! The tackling, catching, running, throwing, all almost life like in their play. If you want the best, then this is the game! By the way, the graphics are great!

The pics of this game on the web do not show how good this game is. The players muscles, the uniforms, and the tackles are all perfect. The detail in gameplay is perfect also. For instance, on questionable Ref calls. You can ask for a instant replay review, and maybe get the call overturned. You really have to see it for yourself though. So if you can find a PS2. This game is a safe buy.

I'll take "Was all the hype worth it for 300.00 please." This company rocked the video game market causing egostistical companies such as Nintendo and Sega to come crashing down from the high ranks of the gaming world. Playstation 1 and Playstation2; The early releases that were set to come out on "Game Day" such as Madden 2001 and NHL 2001 are just giving us a taste of what is to come. I was one of the people who sat outside of BestBuy and made some great gaming friends all with one mission. Get the playstation2 at all cost; even if it meant waiting for 13 hours which is what I did, and the titles I picked up; Madden 2001. My first thoughts of Madden 2001 were, ok the Intro was the same as the earlier Playstation Madden 2001 but that was all. From the pump fakes left to the endzone dancing this games got it all. Challenge a Play, ask coach for advice, look at the Go 2 guyz in the offense. This is the first Madden game where I could read the defense. Go to options and turn the crowd all the way up and the announcers down if you don't want to hear Madden's annoying jokes; trust me, the crowd will take care of him. With all the great game play, it takes just a little getting use to, theirs so many ways the defense can get to the quarterback and just as many for Kurt Warner to avoid that annoying Warren "Sap" for the Bucks. Trust me if it's in the Game, It's definitly in Madden 2001.

Yeah, I did that....7hrs in line for this game. Was it worth the wait? Right now, Tekken is the only game that deserves mass attention for PS2. As for Madden.........., if you have the Sega Dreamcast and NFL2K1 then you know where I'm coming from. Madden 2001 is a great game for the "eyes" to see but it lacks big time in the realism catagory. A Q.B. shouldn't scramble to one end of the field and throw 60 yards over his shoulder down the oppisite side of the field or a running back shouldn't stop on a dime and turn the other way while in full stride. You'll break your ankels doing that in real football. These are the top 5 things that frustrates me about this game. #5 - THE NONE ABILITY TO RUN DOWN THE PLAYER AFTER HE HAS PASSED THE LINE OF SCRIMAGE....(fa-get-abow-dit it's a touchdown) #4 - IF A PLAYER HAS GOOD STATS LIKE Issac Bruce OR Keyshuan Johnson, THEY HARDLY EVER DROP A PASS (double or tripple team coverage) #3 - THE ABILITY FOR THE Q.B. TO SCRAMBLE 20 YARDS BACKWARDS AND STILL HIT THE RECEIVER 40 YARDS DOWN FIELD WITHOUT BREAKING HIS ROUTE (how lame is that) #2 - THE VERY SLOW PLAY OF THE ENTIRE GAME. #1 - THE CRAZY ABILITY FOR THE Q.B. TO THROW A PASS WHILE BEING TAKEN DOWN IN A SACK. NFL2k1 has the upper hand by far because of on-line play with anyone in the country. Bordem sets in fast when playing Madden 2001 against the computer because of the ability for the computer to cheat at will. When ever PS2 decides to go on-line with there console I may pick this one back up ....

You know Playstation 2 isn't all that good trust me.Madden2001 is nothing compared to NFL2k1 I mean the commentary on Madden is a piece of trash.And look at gameplay between those 2 Madden 2001 and NFL2k1 if you look real close at Madden2001 players there ugly.NFL2k1 players look much more realistic. If you want a good Christmas present parents get the Dreamcast and NFL2k1.You will love me for it.

Nowhere near Madden 2001 for PSX1! Forget about "giving him the business" after the whistle because just like NFL2K1 the play is automatically stopped after the whistle. And you will know the play is stopped because the camera automatically zooms in on the player involved. After every play you will see a huge player, faces all the same, blinking until the choose play screen appears. Other disappointments include big arrow on kick offs making it simple, impossible to shed blocks and no 86 Giants-you got to be kidding! Listen--stick with the dreamcast. PSX2 launch is a joke(this is what I waited an extra year for) game developers are already anticipating the xbox and Maddens 2001 is no good.

Let me give you 5 letters G-R-E-A-T!!

I am playing this game right now on my hard-won PS2! This thing really freakin' rocks.. I wasn't really in to football games, but my husband convinced me to get it. I love this thing- YOU MUST OWN IT!
