GOOD but not GREAT

This game has the best graphics I've seen so far on PS2, and the game modes like season, franchise, practice, exhibition are fun. And the create-a-player is great the anoouncers can even pronounce ur last name. But this game has many disappointing characteristics such as: John Madden & Pat Summeral say the same things over 'n' over, after a while you know what they are gonna say before they say it. And it so annoying hearing them talk so dully with no enthusiasim once oh ever. And the franchise mode is good, you can even create a coach, but Madden and Summeral can't pronunce his name. And after like 3 or 4 seasons in the franchise mode It is riddiculosly boring. This game was extremly disappointing, Rent or Borrow this game. BUT DONT BUY IT.

Greatest Sports Game Ever

Madden 2001 is by far the greatest sports game I've ever played, and I would consider myself an expert on sports games. The graphics are incredible. The players look like they would on an actual shot on TV, and instant replays are even better. The game play is also great. You can control basically anything in the game, and the AI actually makes winning a challenge. The only drawback I've found is the repetitive commentary from John Madden. However, this does not detract from the overall quality of the game. I highly recommend this game for any sports fans who actually have a PS2.

Players have wrong numbers on jersey's

This is a good game but some of the players have the wrong numbers on them and that kind of messes you up if you like detail. For instance Emmitt Smith is 32 instead of 22 on the old Dallas teams.

I was an original fan of the madden series until 1998 when i bought based on professioanl reviews Gameday 98 which until i played madden 2001 believed to be the best football game ever. For the first time I truly feel like i controll my team. If i mix up the play calling on offense and time my recievers right i can move the ball. The running game is amazing. the way you have to be patient and let the hole open up, and if it doesnt find another one and quick. The way you need to stay in the pocket and step up to avoid being hit. Every time i get sacked it tends to be because i droped back 10 yards. The ability to throw route based passes or just throw to where the reciever is running towards is great. The only weakness i have foudn it the in ability of the secondary. I find that my secondary will give up 200+ yards almost every time. Given I am playing as the redskins. Also the options are great. You can adjust the A.I. for player and computer cotrolled teams. The madden cards are an interesting feature. I have to say that madden 2001 is by far the best football game to ever grace a console.

This game is a ton of fun. Everything and i mean everything about it is perfect. The playcalling is great with features like ask the coach (the coach sugestes a play and tells you why.) and go to guy (gives you all the plays of the guy that you want.)With the east mode on you can learn in minutes, literally my friend had never touched a playstation in his life and after 3 min he returned a kickoff for a toughdown! Ahhhh:) The Graphics are soooooo cool it looks soooo real. The weather looks so real at dusk (and every other time) the stadiums are great and it is just perfect. This is by FAR the BEST football game out there. I love this game. If you like football you will Love this game.

Madden 2001 vs. NFL 2K1

I have a friend who has NFL 2K1 and another who has Madden 2001 and let me tell u Madden is a whole lot better. The people in 2K1 are 2 tall and skinny looking. the people in madden however look awesome. especially line backers and defensive line men. plus its a whole lot more fun. i wuz playin NFL 2K1 and i got sick of it in bout 30 minutes. my friends did 2. then i played madden 2001 and we played almost none stop from about 12pm 2 about 3am. madden is just all around better than 2K1. no doubt about it. and by the way all u people who think dreamcast is better should stop while ur ahead. u look stupid and in a couple of years u'll feel stupid 2. in the beginning playstaion wuz pretty bad and now its one of the highest sold console ever.

the best football game ever.....

thats the best way to describe Madden for the ps2. the graphics are great, the game play is a tad slower than the ps1 version, but it is still the most realistic around.(sorry DC) the player animations will make you wonder if its tv or madden. throw in all the coaches, team playbooks, and all the stats you can think of and you have a must-buy for the ps2

also, the AI is second to none. the CPU picks up on repeat "money" plays and stuffs you for nothing or will pick you off and "take it to the house".

the thing that really sets this apart from all other football games on the market, is the franchise feature. its in-depth and will keep you coming back for more

Very good game

Exelent graphics, it's hard to compare to other systems because they don't have the quality or horsepower of the PS2, a lot of views look almost real. The sound in the efects is very real, but the comments tend to be repetitive. Game play it's the best i have ever played, it's above al football games in the market rigth now. I would recomend this game to everybody who love football or want to show of the PS2 to friends, i like the season play a lot, but there are more ways to play it, the franchise play is nice but i prefer the season
