"Super Smash Bros. Brawl" is an exceptional competitive video game featuring characters from almost every Nintendo franchise imaginable. Its unique gameplay, "sumo-wrestling"-style victories, unlockables, and collectibles make this mind-boggling fan service wrapped up in a family-friendly punching and kicking game.
As far as a learning curve, it's pretty low. I have NEVER played the original "Super Smash Bros." for the N64. In fact, I only played the sequel "Super Smash Bros. Melee" for the GameCube ONCE and didn't really care for fighting games at the time. However, even with my relative inexperience with the series, the game mechanics, and the controls... the third iteration of the series, "Super Smash Bros. Brawl", is easy to pick up and play... and fun for years.
Last night I had people over to play multiplayer "Brawl" and it was great. It didn't matter who was winning or who was losing, I haven't laughed like that in a long time. I thoroughly enjoy it.

We ordered this for my son's b'day and he plays it all the time now. It is really worth the money and came in excellent condition. He would spend hours playing this...we just have to limit his Wii time. I would recommend this to other parents...our son is 11 yrs. old and I think it is a fine game for him.
Fun while it last for single player, but always a hit with guest!

This game series has once again surpassed its predecessors! Though single player mode can get repetitive and boring (a continuing problem throughout all of the game series) multi-player mode continues to deliver along with the new smash ball in which people QUICKLY get violent and hyperactive to get (which is an absolutely hilarious marvel to witness)! My only gripes about this game is the fact that there is some characters that are EXACTLY the same (Come on, Young Link and Toon Link? Falco, Wolf and Fox? Luigi and Mario?! BORING! At least its not Pichu..) and the fact that the whole online play takes entirely too long in my opinion. Otherwise, this game is a blast with some friends!
Infinite Amount of fun!

This game is non-stop action and fun. There is never a dull moment. There are so many different characters that you can play as, so many different game modes, and the new online feature is amazing. You can play with friends or strangers online with the AI get's too easy, but really, playing single player against AI's is always fun and a challenge. A great game for anyone!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a great game with all your classical players like Mario,DonkyKong and Wario. The way you beat the game is you have to use each charactor in two different stages.I like it because it takes a while to beat the game and I don't like games were you can beat it in a day.I think everyone would like this game.
Great Game, The kids love it!

This game was everything I was hoping for and more. There is both the classic version of all 1 on 1 battles through the game, and there is also a relatively long adventure mode where you actually fight your way through different stages and bosses. You can even upgrade your characters through the adventure mode with the new stickers feature. There are plenty of new stages, plus some old ones. Lots of new characters that are fun to play as. Enjoyable extras mini games such as boss battles and event matches. Great Game all around.
What a Game that lived up to the hype!

I first like to say that my reaction to this game is "wow". I've never been crazy about many games in my life to want to play in tournaments and against many people I can find. This game, I believe, is the best smash brothers ever developed. I've had this game since february, and I still can't manage to put the controller down. I have so much fun with this game it's ridiculous. I also really love the fact that this game has developed the final smashes. Each character has the ability to knock their opponent off the screen or inflict major damage. Also, you can play opponents online and test your skill against there skill.
Now, you may be saying what are the down falls. Well, the first down fall is the lag which can occur in the online mode. If anyone within the fight has a slow internet, everyone has to pay the price and face that problem. I think nintendo should've developed something a little better that would allow slower connections to play with slower connections. It may seem unfair, but it's only fair for those have internet for gaming. The second problem I would have to say is the character Mario. I really love mario since his premiere in Mario Brothers. Mario is a legend, and his character on brawl should be tough and awesome. Unfortunately, Mario doesn't have that characteristic in this game. He is pretty lame and fighting with him is a little difficult. I also think that it would've been cool if Brawl had meelee's characters and the new one's in brawl.
Despite the upside, this game is totally what I expected. This game is action packed. Also, if you want to purchase this game, make sure you have some friends to play against. It makes the game more fun, and you can really test you ability, and as an addition, get the internet connection to play online against others. The game will get borring if you don't have plenty of people to play against. I recommend this game to all of those wanting a good fighting game with lots of excitment!
Incredible! Lots of fun!

I loved Melee, but this game is certainly better. It takes getting used to, that is for sure. There are stronger smash attacks, and stronger items that might leave you confused and frustrated at first, but hang in there. Once you get the hang of it, though, the game is a blast! One of the really cool features this game has to offer is the ability to build your own stages, really cool. The wifi is a little glitchy with my internet connection (Mario Kart Wii works great, though...) but this is minor. Get this game!
Go buy this. Now.

I don't think I can emphasize enough how extremely fun this game is - how many $50 games will still have you completely hooked 60, 80, 100 hours into it? If you have friends, and a wii, and even if you don't, this is an essential. It's overloaded with content (how did they fit so much stuff on one disk?), and every ounce of it is high quality.
Oh wait, I lied, there actually are a couple things that could've been better about this game - but I think I'll have a separate section for them here just because they are so outweighed by the awesomeness in this game and I don't want to make it look like I don't like the game.
First off, the online mode. While playing "with friends" is awesome and works very well, playing "with anyone" is flawed. It takes FOREVER for it to find people for you to play against, and once it does, it becomes apparent that match after match you are still playing against the same people. This makes no sense, as there are millions of people out there who have this and as such hundreds (at least) who would be online at any given point in time.
Second off, the subspace emissary mode. I'm really going to rant about this one, so if you just want to get it in a nutshell either skip this or read my final comments at the bottom of the paragraph. While the subspace emissary has awesomely epic cutscenes, co-op support, and fairly fun gameplay, it has a lot flaws. First off, the character designs are HORRIBLE. They are unoriginal and very weird, and detract from the otherwise nostalgic and awesome experience. Why didn't they use the plethora of characters they have available from all the nintendo franchises, and sonic and snake's games? You'll watch an awesome cutscene where link draws his master sword and meets up with yoshi, then you start playing (to nostalgic music from alttp), but you're not fighting octorocks, or stalfos, you're fighting freaky floating puppet things with messed up faces and giant claws. What is wrong with this?? Who was responsible for charachter designs here? Oh well, I've spent enough time rambling about that flaw. Next up is how frustrating the gameplay itself can be in the subspace emissary - so many times you will either be completely lost, or the enemies that you are facing will be extremely annoying and cruel. The level designs themselves can also be very unfair - there are many times that you will die due to no mistake of your own, but just because they placed a pit that looks like the next tunnel you should go down, or a hidden platform that will squish you against the wall when you step on it. What's worst about the subspace emissary is that it had and has so much potential - lost, due to poor design choices. Playing it will feel like work, at times. But keep in mind that there is so much to this game that you could never even touch this mode and have an amazingly awesome experience with the game - It's just an additional feature - which is good thing, due to the abovementioned flaws.
Ok, those are all of my complaints, except for maybe some really minor ones which I won't mention just because they're so small. But even the above 2 complants are small, when you consider how much AAA stuff this game has to offer. If I were to talk about all the stuff this game has done perfectly, I would be filling 10 reviews worth of coverage. So, if you have a wii, do yourself a favor and go buy super smash bros. brawl.
