Don't listen to all the haters, this game is incredibly fun and improves upon previous titles in the series. It's a great party game when you have friends over and also has enough depth to provide tournament game play.

This game has been in the press since it was announced years ago. I was very excited for it since I am a fan of the previous two games. When I picked up this game I hoped it would be fun and that is what I got. A very fun game.
The mechanics of the game have not changed and I do not think there should be much that should have changed anyways it updates the game I loved with a longer single player portion, more to unlock and more characters. It gives a person a lot to do if they do not have friends at the time or if they do have friends many different play styles to choose from.
Versus mode is definite the part people play most since that is where we can all play our friends for huge amounts of fun. The players get a lot of options and it just builds on what most people loved from the games before.
Single player is a drag but I found it fun for a few hours, just not too long since there is not much variety in the enemies.
But unlocking stuff in the game will give anyone who is a fan a lot to look forward to.
If you want a party game this is a great one to have to ad to any others you might own.
Did not live up to the hype

My husband and I purchased this game after reading some reviews online and watching some videos of game play. We only played it a handful of times and then sold it. The controls are not too hard to get used to, and playing with the different characters was fun. While it was kind of fun, it was not the kind of game we could play over and over.
A must buy for Wii owners

This is the most insane Smash Bros game to date! The game formula has expanded to include an ok extended story mode, but the multi-player is the best it has ever been. The addition of final smashes adds yet another level of intensity to an already crazy game. You and your friends will spend days on this game.
Fun game, but the plot is unsophisticated

Players of this game will have to put up with either endless, autonomous fighting or a fairly boring story mode that contains almost no dialogue. It consists of grunts, head motions, and hand waves instead of speech.
If you can't get anyone else to play with you, this game becomes utterly boring and depressing after about an hour.
The little gameplay the programmers included is exceptional. It has wonderful graphics and music created by real composers and played by a real orchestra. They've finally put so much detail into the characters that the individual stitches in their clothing, e.g. Mario's jeans, are visible. The characters blink and breathe throughout gameplay, plus they display rudimentary facial expressions.
If you are easily entertained by endless fighting, this game is for you. If you prefer plots and thinking games, this game is not for you. Overall, this is a great game to have for parties and for when you're feeling aggressive.
Good Follow up

It's predecessor (Meele for the game Cube) left high standards, i would say overall the game is a success. the new characters and items are original, and it can be played by new comers or veterans alike.
Eh...Not As Exciting As I Thought It Would Be

Well, honestly. Here's what I'm going to say, straight up. Don't buy this game, unless you got some friends with you because this game can get boring once you achieve everything. I know they have the online play and all, but that wasn't even any good since it lags like crazy. Seriously, in my opinion the game needs a recall because of that bad online play. Personally, I think it would've been a lot better if Sakurai didn't add all the other unecessary features such as Masterpieces, assists trophies and other crazy things to make the game lag so much.
But here's the plus about it. Group gaming is a lot of fun. But like I said, it's only fun IF you play with some buddies, otherwise boring as heck. But yes, as always, it's fun to use your fave Nintendo Characters to beat your friends around. (I'm sorry, computers get boring after a while, since they can't interact with you -_-)
Subspace Emissary! Okay, the cutscenes entertained me a lot. They had me laughing to no end. The gaming portion, not so much. It was just a bunch of troublesome levels with mazes. In my opinion it was just like the Original Melee Adventure Mode with Cutscenes. They couldn've done so much more.
But yeah, just a three. I mean I like the game and all, but I felt like it was lacking something. Something that was in Melee, that's not in here. But like I said, it's a good buy. But I warn you again. Don't buy the game unless you have some friends to play with or else you're going to get bored with Brawl in less than a week. Three days, if you're like my friend.

I hate it. My son loves it. Every spare minute he has is spent making cartoon characters beat each other to a pulp. I guess it's a generational thing. But it has its uses, too: "If you don't finish your homework, I take away the controllers . . ." It's a great motivator.
