BEST WWII SHOOTER EVER!!!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 7

This game is awesome! I bought it a couple of days ago and so far I have been really impressed. The graphics are amazing, the strategy is very realistic, and the opponents have very realistic logic as to how to attack. About half-way through the game you have to do some covert operations, and if you get caught, you're basicly dead 'cause the enemy will swarm on you and keep on coming.

I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone that can handle the violence. The story goes along with how we faught in WWII very well. You even get to do a Normandy mission, starting in one of the crew boats. The only drawback of the game is that it seems to go by quite quickly. I have a feeling I will have beat the game in as little as 5-6 hours of playing. It would have been even better if it was around 10-12 hours, making it more of a storyline-based first-person shooter.

Anyway, it is a great game that will soon be a classic so get it now!

Not even close to Return to Wolfenstein

The biggest problem with this game is the lack of balance in play. 90% of the time, the game is much too easy to be interesting. The other 10%, it is ridiculously difficult and frustrating due to game flaws which the computer opponent is exploiting. There is very little middle ground.

Except for the occasional guard dog (they're a joke) the only enemy in the game is German soldiers. Sure they have different uniforms and slight variety in weapons, but they're all basically the same. And if you shoot any of them even once, they'll stagger for a few seconds unable to shoot back or else die outright. Whats more, many of them drop health when they die. This makes them basically no challenge in 90% of situations. If you can see them you can shoot them, and if you can shoot them you're in no danger.

The other 10% of situations, the incredibly difficult and frustrating 10%, are where you can't see them. The AI can see through bushes, in the dark, and in the blurry gray haze at the limit of your visible range. So you are often shot at and killed by enemies who you literally can't see - not a single pixel of them on the screen. The entire 5th level of the game is filled up with invisible snipers. You could walk around the corner, be shot by 4 snipers, pause the game, and study the screen for 5 minutes and not see a single one of them.

Another problem with the game is many of the missions involve friendly computer controlled team mates who you generally need to protect and keep alive. All fine and good, except they will almost unerringly rush into the line of fire of the nearest machinegun, die, and force you to start the level again. When they're not doing that, they're either crowding around you so closely you get stuck in doorways, or else standing in front of you to block your line of fire.

Yet another problem is there's no blood. The general plot of the game plays like a war movie. The D-Day level flows almost exactly like the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan. What's a war movie without blood? The looney politicians like Joe Lieberman aren't going to approve of a violent video game whether it has the added touch of blood or not - but the gamers who buy these things sure as hell miss it.

Download the 1 player demo before you buy it, and see if the game is really your style. I wish I'd done that, my pocket would be ... heavier.

Medal of Honor - Allies Assault is a visual treat that transports the player back into WWII with fantastic graphics and fantastic game play. The missions vary in style and difficulty. The jewel has to be the Normandy Beach landing in which you start in the landing craft and must make your way to the shoal. It brings the opening beach assult from Private Ryan clearly into your mind. The side conversations on the assault are a great addition for realism.

If you like the 1st person genre you must play this one.

I shudder to say it - This Game is Better Than Half-Life

Finally I have played a game that surpasses the Best Game of All Time, Half-Life. Even your stubborn old Dad who hates video games will want to play this one, once he sees it. Metal of Honor: Allied Assault (MoHAA) is 30 missions in Northern France and Europe that will take you through WW2 like you have only seen in movies. MoHAA is beautiful, it is exciting, and it often reminded me of what my grandfathers went through. Parts of the game are ripped straight out of great war movies like Saving Private Ryan, Das Boot, or even Schindler's List, with a little flavor of Indiana Jones mixed in there to temper the sometimes harsh events.

MOHAA is intensely beautiful. Every image I ever had of WWII is present - the U-boat facilities, the bombed french villages, the concentration camps, the bridge from the finale of Private Ryan, or the creme of the group - the invasion of Omaha Beach, D-Day, present in every tiny detail. At times, there is so much action going on, so many soldiers rushing around me, there I just stopped to admire the detail (and promptly was shot into a thousand pieces). I was often amazed how far video games have come, I saw so much progress in this game. The music is Hollywood-quality, and the sound effects deserve special mention, as I think the developers used actually weapons to create the very convincing sounds I heard.

If only you had time to admire the scenery. The enemy AI is outstanding, and will definitely keep you on your toes: German soldiers fire from behind cover, or run to find a better position. They hide in towers and dark corners and rush you from all directions. One mission has you moving through a destroyed French town crawling with Nazi snipers, another has you creeping through the woods in the middle of dense fog, looking for a hint of the enemy between the trees.

There are only a few minor problems, and I mean minor. The game requires a very powerful computer, more than it's minimal requirements. There are a few graphical glitches here and there, but nothing distracting or important. The multiplayer portion isn't all that great, but who really cares? You don't buy this game for the multiplay.

A landmark game. A piece of history. Something you can show your father, maybe even your grandfather.

*clap clap clap*

That's all that can really be said. I found no flaws at all in this game. I've heard people complaining about the jumping system; you put on all that gear, jump up and down a few times, and tell me what it feels like. I'm a real WW2 buff, and that's what I was most concerned with in this game when I got it, was it accurate. And, yes, it is very historically accurate. The timeframe for the weapon development is off by a bit, but it makes the gameplay much more enjoyable. The only thing I didn't really like, is that you're one soldier carrying around a sniper rifle, sub-machine gun, a pistol, and a primitive assault rifle. Realistically, you'd have one or two of those, but I really doubt you'd have all of them. I'd like to see a limit on how many guns you can carry, like in Halo, but this wasn't really an issue as far as gameplay goes. I was just really surprised by how historically accurate it was, while still turning out to be a really well designed game. It took me a while to beat, it could've been longer, but again, not bad. More than worth the money.

Excellent gaming experience...

MOHAA is an intense, first person shooter with great graphics and incredible sounds. You are Lt. Powell, who must complete a number of missions for OSS that scope the major battles of the European Theatre in WWII. Gameplay is straightforward, exciting, and progressively more difficult. This is not a more "realistic" combat simulation like Operation Flashpoint, but there is a good balance of realism with gameplay. The Omaha Beach landing level is amazing and gives you a very small peak into what those brave men went through, and the sounds are overwheming. The only drawbacks I see are the multiplayer, which is not really team-based like the Half-Life mod Day of Defeat, but really just a massive frag-fest...You will also need some serious hardware to run this well. Overall, the developers did a great job, and I hope that the new installment in this series, Frontline, which is to come out for PS2, is also ported to the PC.

Greatest game ever!

In Medal Of Honor you play as Lt. Powell a soldier in the 1st Ranger Battalion. This is one of the most realistic games I have played in my life. Though I have only played the demo I hope the game is even better. One of the things I notice the most is, when you shoot a Kraut in the knee, stomach, or any place that isn't fatal sometimes they get back up and start shooting at you again. This game takes you from North Africa all the way to the Rhineland. The weapons are all real and the same with the uniforms (I know cus I'm a history buff)the only non-realistic thing is that you get shot about 25 times before you die, and you can't kill a teamate. Alot of this game though is taken from Saving Prive Ryan, ex. the cafe in the Demo (Nebelwurfer Hunt), or Omaha Beach (Coast Guardmen yelling "30 seconds!" This is overall one of the greatest games ever made and anybody would enjoy it.

What are they smoking?

Ignore every other review that gave this game under 4 stars. i say (and game informer magazine agrees) that Allied Assault is the best first person shooter ever coded. It has the best sound of any game out there. the sound team at ea actually recorded the weapons fond in mohaa and put them in the game. So when you use your thompson, its the actual weapon youre hearing.

The Storming of omaha beach puts many movies to shame in the effects department. artillery sends sand up in your face, men sit on the beach and sob, and mines blow up and sending you flying. (hint: dont use your weapon untill the captain yells "covering fire!" and also, the path through the mines is taking th most direct route to the craters, cind of looking like this: M(a big zigzag.) then run straight to the bunker and jump down. also USE COVER! if you dont, you WILL DIE!

but there are many more levels to this game besides dday. the first level is a rescue mission taking place in arzew, africa. the countries you fight in include france, north africa (yes, i know its not a country) and germany itself.

the weapons include: the m-1 garand, the .45 thompson, the Broning Automatic Rifle (BAR), MP40, Colt 45, panzershrek, bazooka, winchester riot shotgun, springfield 03 sniper, kar 98 sniper, and last (but DEFINENTLY not least, The Fearsome STG 44 (MP44). the chated weapons Are as follows: Walther p38 and the kar 98.

this game id worth the money you pay for it

as good as it gets!!

This is the best fps that is in the world war 2 era. THe missions are amazingly well done. The graphics are amazing, and so many options on graphics, such as vumetric smoke and many graphic settings. In thsi game you go in undercover several times. this game requires you to be imaginative, it's not just that you can do it only 1 way, and the AI is pretty good. THe multiplaayer is incredibly good. Usually it has around 4,00 people on it. I'm not kidding around, if you want check out how many are on yourself, courtesy of gamespy arcade. If you are looking for the experence of a life time, combining realism and imagination, your ship has come in. (though i have had it scince it was realised. that was awhile ago, so you should be able to get a good price). :)

MOHAA BEATS THEM ALL!

Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault is a brilliant one person shooter set in World War II. The great graphics and cool sounds makes it feel as if you are actually there! The sudden explosions and ambushes will have you jumping out of your seat and breaking into a cold sweat. There are six real WWII guns to choose from with a pistol and some grenades on the side. The campaign is long and challenging featuring some real missions like the Normandy Invasion. Muliplayer online is fast and features 7 awesome maps and different playing modes like objective match, round-based match, survival, or team match to make the game more interesting (You cannot play online if you have a 56k modem it will not work). Please buy the best game out there (much better then any Half Life game) and kick some Axis Butt!!
