I would probably give this 4 1/2 stars, but no lower. The game is without a doubt fun. From driving a tank to blowing up anti-aricraft guns, this game has been very solid. Graphically, it's good though not as good as Return to Castle Wolfenstein. the sound is very solid too except for the grenade explosions which sound like a popping balloon. Here are some of the bad things:

1. All of the guys run around like they have stomach cramps
2. You can't see very far becasue the graphics get pixally. You can't tell if there is a man in the guard tower or if it is a rail.
3. The online play is slow and connection is laggy (My commputeris a Dell PIII 1000mhz, 256 rdram, 64meg video card and I have a cable modem and just getting connected to one of the servers is chore). And alot of the maps it's just a sniping battle.
4. You and some of the enemies are like Superman. I shot one guy in the head 3 times and started targeting someone else when the guy got back up and started shooting me. So I shot him 3 more times and he got back up again. Same thing for you except you can take even more damage.

Heres what is good:

1. Some very interesting levels, especially Omaha Beach. Anything you heard about that is for real. It is definitley the best level and one of the hardest (You got to play to find out why).
2. No end bosses. I get tired of playing games that have an end boss all of the time. Seem like all FPS do anymore.
3. Nice stories and missions (I was worried in the beginning as it seemed all you did was follow other around while they killed everything. Kind of boring in the beginning)
4. Lotsa of different scenery and things to do. There is a level where you have to take out some anit aircraft guns and other units in a heavily wooded area covered in snow. These levels are by far the best graphics and sound in the game. Everytime the breeze blew, I swore one of them dogs was coming at you. Very nicely done. Kept me on edge the whole time.

The only other complaint I have is at time the AI was bad. I shot a guy in the back and had to reload my weapon and he didn't even check to see who shot him. Just kept walking. Another time, I came to a depot with 2 guards in 2 different towers and 4 on the ground. I picked them off one at a time with no alarm going off and the other guys didn't seek cover. Anyone who played RTCW knows that those guys came after you in a hurry.
But this game is definitely worth it. If the Internet play (which is still pretty fun if you can get on. Unfortunately it is on Gamespy which I think is horrible) were alot better and a little faster paced, this would be one of the best FPS's ever. Oh well, maybe when Half-Life 2 comes out......

A little update on the internet play. They now have a patch you can download that gives you an in-game browser, but it has to reload everytime you want to change games or it says server is full. The game also plays a little better, but is still laggy.

A Sweet Game!!

When my U.S. History class started its World War II unit, I got a A+. Why? Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Not only is it the best and most fun first-person shooter I'v ever played, it is very historically accurate. I recommend this game to anyone even remotely interested in WWII, or anyone who loves a good, fun game to sit back, relax, and play. The single player very fun but probably the best part is fighting on a team or for yourself online against other human players. This is a must-have game!

It was an honor for me to play it

The Medal of Honor series has done it again, but this time the game is better than ever. The three main elements that make up the huge success of the game are sound, graphics, and control. To begin, withought it's amazing sound the game wouldn't be even half as good as it is. When your playing it actually feels like thousands of bullets are missing your head. Another great thing about it is that it is so real you can use the sound to your advantage. Like in real battles, one can hear the enemy approaching. Well, in this game you can listen to the enemy soldiers whispering or listen to their footsteps. The game also has AMAZING graphics. You actually feel like you are in war. In this one mission you have to enter this house. As I walked through it the graphics were so good, I felt like I was in it. I smelled the staunchiness. I was actually THERE! The control also makes the game great. The controls are easy enough that you dont have to spend hours memmorizing what button does what, but complex enough that its not a point and shoot thing. IN the end I think this game is amazing and is worth EVERY penny.

Allied Assault gets a high recommendation from me...

I've been a longtime fan of Medal of Honor since it first began on the PSone. I've collected them and will continue to collect them as I love war games and first-person shooters. Needless to say, when this came out, I had to check it out. I must say I'm impressed. EA did an excellent job with this game for the PC. I hope they continue to make the Medal of Honor series for the PC. I think everyone needs a taste of MOH. It's thoroughly engaging, exciting and intense with reality based objectives. The graphics are crisp, and they make use of the Quake 3 Engine quite nicely. Although, they lack the detail and atmosphere of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, at least to me. The Medal of Honor series has always been famous for its' sound so it's no surprise that this game has exceptional sound. Everything from germans speaking to shotgun fire, everything is topnotch. That's what gets you so engulfed in the game because you feel as though you're actually there. Control is deadon. The gameplay is quite challenging, too, especially the Omaha Beach level.
I really loved this game and highly recommend it to all first-person shooter fans or war fans alike. You'll find after playing it that you could be playing one of the greatest shooters of all time. Sure, it may have alot in common with Return to Castle Wolfesntein(which is an outstanding game in its' own right) but this is a reality based game.
I salute and honor all those who served in World War 2 just as this game strives to honor them. Thank you for all that you've done.

This game is awesome although some of the allies tend to run around in circles in tricky situations and get killed. The game follows the movie with a few extra sequences but all in all if you watched the flick, you will know what to do to succeed in the missions. I love the immersive environment and the music is awesome. The sounds add to the experience as well as the enemie AI. The Germans tend to be a little more formidable opponents than you are accustomed to seeing in these games. The battles are intense especially the beach landing at normandy (expect to not make it out of the LST). The only thing that seems to annoy people is the lack of blood. I for one am not bothered by it as the game is enjoyable enough to hold your interest even without the customary gore. I highly recommend this title and if you purchase it be careful of the snipers as they are deadly.

Best FPS Ever!!!!

Hands down, the best 1st-person shooter game I've ever played. The graphics are dazzling and the historically-accurate single player missions kept me up till 3 in the morning playing.

If you're into 1st-person shooter games, World War II history, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault is a must.

Great WWII Fun

The Medal of Honor franchise continues with "Allied Assault." MOHAA lives up to its (high) expectations, and Electronic Arts (a company whom I'm not a big fan of) did an excellent job on this game.

This game came out within a month of the fantastic "Return To Castle Wolfenstein," and I was very interested to see for myself which game was better. I've played through both games, and I have to say they are both some of the best FPS games I've ever played. MOHAA follows a more realistic approach to WWII, but this doesn't make it any better or worse than RTCW.

The graphics are very good when pumped up on a good graphics card like mine (GeForce Ti4200 128mb), but the default graphics are poor. The physics are also good, but the animations are a little bit quick.

The gameplay is very good, but it doesn't quite touch the gameplay of RTCW. The reason for this is the AI, which is...well...dumb. The enemy (on medium difficulty) simply ran by me countless times, taking away from the realism a little. Still the realism factor is there, especially in the stunning D-Day mission.

The sound is fantastic, and the great soundtrack and sound effects add to the gameplay alot. Overall, when compared to RTCW, it is simply a good game, but on its own, it is a fantastic gaming experience.

Hated it...but it grew on me

I played COD before buying MOHAA. Matter of fact, I bought MOHAA because COD was rather short (in terms of levels), and I wanted a similiar game.

I was annoyed by the choppiness and lack of realism in confronting the enemy, compared to COD. I thought some of the missions were clever in their design, entertainment and objectives...but, other than that, this game was a dissappointment.

I felt that my success was more a function of previous knowledge and having run the level before, rather than developing a strategy and trying to force a win by using it.

It is amusing that in many circumstances, you can fire a weapon into a compound, drop an enemy surrounded by 20 comrades and no one else reacts.

It was also amusing that an enemey can walk into the room you are in, surprise you, and take as many as 20 steps serpentining through the room before he engages you. Terribly unrealistic. The software triggers were way too obvious to the player. I.e. stand around, nothing happens and everyone freezes...take a step, and things start happening.

Sorry.. to be somewhat fair, this game is entertaining. Next to COD, however, this game must be embarassing to its developers.

Medal of Honor is definitely a mixed bag.

The demo deals with a rather straightforward mission: locate and destroy a group of enemy rocket launchers. You lead a group of 3 soldiers thru a town, some ruins and then against the launch site itself. Lead is a misnomer because you can't actually give your fellows any commands. Which is too bad because they are dumb as bricks. They will stand in the open, taking shots for way too long and frequently spoil your efforts to sneak through an area. On the hard difficulty setting, you basically have to just give up on them and let them die. The battles you get into are very hectic and can be exciting but the game has a few major flaws that will seriously limit your fun. Enemies will spawn based on in game triggers. For instance, run into building 1, and enemies come pouring out of building 2 across the street to shoot at you. But if you skip building 1 and go right into building 2, those enemies are not there. This happens frequently. Also, these are the most eagle eyed soldiers you'll ever meet. Crouched or not, behind bushes, at ultra long range; they will always see you. Kind of unrealistic. Beyond that, you get some nicely modeled weapons that function for you relatively realistically. Hit locations matter and a head shot of any kind will finish off any bad guy, but you have a buncha health points. For those used to tactical shooters like Ghost Recon, its not quite as realistic as that. And for those used to Quake-style games its not quite as arcade like as those. Is a unique style and may or not appeal to you.

The game looks pretty nice. Ran very well on my machine (athlon 750, 256 megs, geforce 2 mx-200 64mb) with only slight slow down during some of the more hectic moments. The colors do seem a little washed out but I think that's a style choice. they are obviously going for a Saving Pvt Ryan, Band of Brothers type look. Lots of olive drab, khaki and grey. Ocasionaly you'll see a gun barrel poke thru a wall but otherwise pretty sharp graphics. Explosions could be a bit better tho.

The sound is probably the best sound I've ever heard in a pc game. The gun fire is startling. From the sound of shell casings hitting the floor, to the shuffle of footsteps, it's all done perfectly. Occasionally nearby voices will fade in and out, but that only happens rarely. Whatever you think of the rest of the game, the sound is a major step forward.
