What a disappointment

The graphics are great BUT you have to take a look at the whole package. As other reviews have mentioned, the AI has a lot to be desired. I haven't tried the multiplayer part yet but as far as the missions go they are very frustrating. In some parts, seemingly unlimited solders come running when everything has been cleared out. One part (and this is what made me write this), I couldn't even see the sniper after countless times trying to find him not caring if I died. I just wanted to see where he was hiding. That is fine if it works both way but fire one shot, even if you're hidden and the entire enemy force know exactly where your at. Also, the whole game is choreographed so you can't do anything out of the ordinary (so much for thinking on your own). In one battle, I tried to get a sniper rifle but when I ran ahead, there was an invisible barrier, which stopped me. Then friendly soldiers came and blocked the way so I couldn't get though. We usually all got killed. I tried several variations and it happened every time. This was during the Omaha Beach mission. Also, in some parts of the game, depending weather or not the authors allowed it at the time, soldier's weapons seemed to magically disappear when they are shot. So, if you like more of an arcade style game this may be for you, but if you like more realism, check out Operation flashpoint. In my opinion, the graphics are in the same league but the game play is 10 times more enjoyable and realistic.

This is a fantastic game! slight issues with graphic renderings, but despite that, the playabilty, the sound effects and the music/soundtrack (something I find that no other video game has ever come close to) is simply great!
If you like PVT Ryan (the movie) you will love playing this game! The soundtrack actually makes you feel like you are in part of a movie. The history aspect of this plays well too - especially the sound of the weapons being fired. My Dad (who fought in this war) was amazed at how acurate the sound effects were - chilling ;)
Get this game - it beats any FPS I have played to date.

Fun Stuff for WW2 buffs

Great graphics (Is coming extremely close to Saving Private Ryan a bad thing?)interesting missions and enough challenge to make you angry at times. You can get through the various missions in different ways by using different tactics. If you shoot the nazis just the right way they will actually say, "Mama"! Lotsa fun after a bad day at work!
The weaponry is outstanding and the gun performance is realistic. The entire game is well designed and I would highly recommend it.

Game of the Year to Buy

When I read previews of MOHAA back in around november/september I was extremely excited for this game to come out. Finally! A game that captures the actual D-Day from first person! MOHAA's centerpiece is the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach. However, I must say that when I played the D-Day level finally it was quite dissapointing. The invasion is only small scale and the events are ripped shamelessly from the WW2 hit movie: Saving Private Ryan. The run up the beach is incredibly short and pretty easy. The events are all scripted so that if a soldier is scripted to die, he will die automatically in the place where he's supposed to die. This means that there's no possible way to have any variety. You get to the shingle and go to get bangalors like in SPR(Saving Private Ryan). You then explode the shingle like in SPR and run to the base of one of the giant bunkers.

About 10 guys run over the shingle with you, but only you and 3 others make it because it's scripted to have the others die automatically. The captain in your battalion looks almost exactly like Tom Hanks did in SPR. The men at the bunker base with you are the Tom Hanks captain, the Sergeant guy from SPR who was bald and is bald underneath his helmet. And some random Private. Captain tells Segeant and Private to run across to the other bunker the space to it is covered by machine gun(s) just like in SPR. They run across and are scripted to get killed so they die. You run across snipe the machine gunners like the sniper did in SPR who instantly reappear and run into a trench.

Now is where it just turns into an FPS game. You go on to take out an entire German bunker by yourself which is incredibly unrealistic. It would've been a better level if you could go to the top of the bluffand clear that out, but no. The case in the single player MOHAA is that the levels lack much depth although it is fun to be in disguise as a German officer and walk around not being shot at....hehehe =)

The graphics in MOHAA are good like in the D-Day level when you're in the Higgins Boats the soldiers around you actually look scared.

.... MOHAA's audio and graphics are quite amazing. MOHAA could've used more larger scale battles like the D-Day invasion except more realistic. MOHAA's multiplayer I think is the best part about it. It has 8 or more(+) maps and 4 or 5 different types of multiplayer games to play. Realistic and all extremely fun to play! Maps: Stalingrad, Omaha Beach, Destroyed French Village, etc. etc.....
Games: Team Deathmatch, Objective Based Match, etc. etc.....

For what it's worth:
BUY MEDAL OF HONOR: ALLIED ASSAULT!!! AND BUY IT NOW! AS QUICK AS YOU CAN!!!

HEHEHE
HEHEHE..... ;)
=)

Lots of fun, but not very realistic at all

I bought this game because I have loved the the serires since it came out on Playstation. Those first two games got anybody who played them hooked. This game is the same way, but like the first two has a lot of flaws.

I'll start with the good parts, and there are a lot of things to like about this game. For starters the graphics are very good and so is the enemy and your friendly soldiers AI. The weapons are all authentic and sound real. Almost all the levels are fun to play and have well thought out missions.

So whats bad you ask? For one thing the enemie soldiers aim is exceptional, they don't even have to aim at you to hit you. For example, I ran up a hill along with a friendly soldier and ended up beside a baracade that had a German soldier behind aiming at my partner, but every time he pulled the trigger I got hit!! The same thing happens around corners, through walls, and other objects. The enemy also has bolt action rifles that shot as fast as they can pull their triggers. Also in one level called Sniper Town you must find a lost platoon in a town full of snipers, dah. Doesn't sound bad, but on every block of this town there are an overwhelming amount of snipers. Every building you look at has two or three snipers in it. If EA was going for realism that definetly isn't it. To have every sniper in the Wermant in on town is totally unrealistic and incredibly frustrating. Basically what I'm saying is is you can't beat the game without using cheat codes, which doesn't make it any fun. The enemy can also still withstand taking twenty bullets and be fine enough to run a marathon. Sometimes your troops fighting beside you can be incredibly dumb, for instance standing in the open and getting shot repeatidly.

This is a fun game, but EA still needs to put a lot more into it to make it realistic and one of the best first person shooters.

This game has some good and some really bad elements. Graphics are very nice though Q3 engine is starting to show its age due to its inability to render huge exteriors (see Operation Flashpoint exteriors for reference). Playability is average - ok in single player mission and highest in team multiplayer... Deathmatch in Medal of Honor should not even exist. It requires no IQ - simply luck in good reflexes.

Realism and originality is where this game misses its mark. First of all, the game is more or less a remake of the motion picture - Saving Private Ryan. Sure, everything looks nice and some of the graphical elements are revolutionary (e.g. explosions) but the predictable nature of the scenes and missions ruins the overall feeling as you can not compare this game with the movie. Secondly, hello -- there is no blood! I guess that means more $$$ for the publisher since the violence rating is then lowered. That in itself is a major turn off. We are not talking here paint ball but actual WW2 combat. Something more on the violence scale of Saving Private Ryan would have been more appropriate and realistic. Third, the main character can carry at any time a small aresenal of weapons. Please... Sniper rifle, Thompson sub-machinegun, and a bunch of stuff that you need a truck for...

All in all, if you are looking for a realistic 1st person combat game this ain't it. It's all pretty graphics like Return To Castle Wolfestein...

In my opinion, Operation Flashpoint is to date - the best 1st person military combat sim. Save your hard earned dollars for it.

Don't buy iy until they fix it!

The game is great if you can get it to work. The success rate for that is horrific. It does not seem to mater what your system is based on - AMD, Intel, VIA, etc. Your chances are about 50/50. Six other folks I work with have purchased this game. Only 2 got it to work right out of the box. Two others got it to work with a lot of sweat and tears and then to find it fail later in the game (audio looping problems). The remainder gave up and returned the game. I wish I would have done the same.

Support for this game is slow in comming. EA hast left it to you to debug their software and find work arounds for the numerous problems. I advise two things:

1. log on to the MOHAA site and check out the user forums. It will give you a good idea of what you may face.

2. Don't purchase this game until EA comes out with a major patch to resolve the problem.

Good luck.

This game was deffiantly one of the best I have ever played. When you get to D Day you will no wat I mean. This game has awsome graphics and a wide variety of World war 2 weapons. I think it is worth the money.

This is sadly one of the few games that I felt so bad about that I needed to write a review. My biggest complaint is that all shots by the enemy AI are predetermined whether they will hit you or not. This part of the game is beyond frustrating. Whenever you try to duck behind cover it doesn't matter because once that bullet is launched its gonna hit you one way or the other. All evasive maneuvers are pointless. On top of this, if you stumble upon an enemy and blow him away, he falls back and stumbles as bullets hit him. Magically he can still fire, his gun is pointed straight at the ground, but you can watch the bullet fly out and still hit you, even if his back is to you. The enemy also always knows where you are unless there on patrol. Patrollers you can sneak up on and kill, however, everyone else is always pointing there gun at you. Its rather frustrating walking around a corner to find a fortress with everyone's gun already pointed at you. The damage model is also horrendous. It always takes three shots to kill someone with a basic rifle and more with a pistol or submachine gun. The only headshot that actually kills someone is the sniper rifle. The enemies are also everywhere, you have to search every single corner of every single house, because there is always some random guy cowering in a corner just waiting for you to pass by. This is not unrealistic per say, it just that there are hundreds of them.

The rest of the game is decent. It has good music and a good attempt to recreate Normandy, some of the levels are pretty fun. But compared to Call of Duty, which is more squad based with better weapons and realism, this game is a weak shooter.

Fun single player...

To a point. Get tired of waltzing through town blasting germans after a while. If you're going for realism, I say go all out and get Ghost Recon. If you're going for muchos kills, I'd go get Quake 3. And if I wanted a multiplayer game, those two and Counterstrike still have this blown out of the water. Oh yeah, and Wolfinstein too, eh? So take my advice and don't waste your money on this one. Remember, Jedi Knight II comes out pretty soon. yeah baby yeah!
