Will AI ever be accurate...

EA has outdone themselves again. This game has all the eye candy AND ear candy you could ever dream of, but just like most games of this type the AI for the enemy is superb and the AI for your team is, how should I put this, ineffective, impotent, etc. The enemy AI is full of soldiers that are crack shots under any circumstances but then again they should be when your team members stand in the open looking at you...ho hum I'll still get the game and will thoroughy enjoy playing it.

more emphasis was given on graphics.rather than action and adventure of the game.

Great Game, but..

Overall a great game, there are plenty of missions to please, lots of different types of objectives, a variety, and just different types of enviroments: Desert to winter to rainy.

Though sometimes I do think its a little overated, heres why:
OK, I saw Saving Private Ryan and know about the devastation at Omaha Beach; but the graphics weren't that great- IT'S A BEACH! And when you clear the shingle, go to the bunker and camp out, if you try running back to the beach, and make it, you slowly die away..odd, I wasn't being shot.. And sometimes the realilty of it all doesn't sink in: Taking a submarine pen with at least 50+ men in it seems reasonable, IF THERE'S 25 OTHER MEN WITH YOU. Anyways, theres just a few other minor glitches and that's it.

Bottom Line: Great Game, a little unrealistic, but fun. Escpecially, getting medals for finding another POW ( in Arzewcough) or destroying a Tiger Tank.

A very good time

This is one of those games that will have you tearing your hair out, swearing you're going to throw it away or sell it, then an hour later you find yourself popping it in to try to make it a few feet further on your path to victory. MOH is, first and foremost, a game - please don't expect a recreation of real battle or a history lesson. It's an amusement, nothing more. And as such, it is successful. Starting in North Africa, you progress through the war, land at D-Day, infiltrate a submarine pen, steal plans, assassinate scientists, and blow up underground factories. It's a long road, and you'll die dozens, even hundreds of times, before you get to the end.
There are, however, problems with MOH that make me not want to go back and play it again, now that I've gone all the way through. For one thing, some weapons don't seem to be very powerful, especially the pistol and the shotgun. You'd think that a 12 gauge shotgun at point blank range would be devastating, but not in MOH, as these Germans can soak up buckshot like it was a handful of beans. The German Shephard dogs you'll run into are WAY too deadly. They are basically a "dirty trick" that the game plays on you, and while you can take multiple machine gun rounds and keep on ticking, one or two bites from a dog and you're dead. Also, there are missions that are very, very hard - the legendary "Sniper Alley" is one. There are others. These seem to defy solutions until you reload the game dozens of times and finally give up and start the particular mission over, retracing your steps, trying it on the LEFT side of the road rather than the right, anything at all. And that's just on "easy" mode. The very final mission, and the last room of the last mission, is just plain too hard. Many have said so - there's no reason to make it so hard except to make you exhausted and glad it's over. I played, and won, MOH several times until I was able to play it on "hard", finally making it all the way up to that room, but was unable to win it. Even downloading all the cheats and hints didn't help - it was insoluble to me. That's just too hard, and to me shows laziness on the game designer's part. I have not gone back to try it again - I was fed up at that point.

MOH may not be as good as Call of Duty, I have no idea - I have a life to live after all and don't want to spend it in front of a computer screen. But I'll always remember fondly the many exasperated hours of fun MOH gave me. It's highly recommended if you have time on your hands and want a dose of WW2 combat. Note: there are easter eggs and hidden games within the game. Check out the cheat and hint websites for how to enter these secret areas, including one whole hidden mission. You'll need these websites anyway, as it's nearly impossible to get through the whole game without a little help, unless you're a veteran FPS gamer, which I wasn't.

The first Medal of Honor game I played was MOH Frontline for the XBOX. I liked it a lot at first, but there were a ton of things in it that didn't make me want to play through it again. The AI was horribly stupid in terms of cover and weapon accuracy. Sometimes I would just sit there and stare at the enemy soldier standing about 15 feet away from me, shooting all around me with his rifle. Another dissapointment in Frontline was the D-Day mission, which was way too easy. You get blown out of your landing craft, swim to shore and run around on the beach with two MG42s blindly fireing short bursts in your general direction, along with your allies charging at the trenches. At Omaha, most of the troops were pinned down at the shoreline behind the obsticals because of the machine gun and mortar fire. Because Medal of Honor Allied Assault came out before Frontline, I was sceptical as to whether Allied Assault would be any better. I gave in to the great price it's selling at right now and bought it. The first mission doesn't really fit the amazing opening level profile that the Medal of Honor series has kept with most of their games, but it's a lot more fun than any opening missions that I have played in any other Medal of Honor games. You and a small group of soldiers riding in the back of a truck go to a small village where a british special forces soldier is being held at an enemy prison. When the guard at the checkpoint outside the town doesn't buy the ID, the stealthy rescue mission turns into intense, close-quarters battle through the town. I was amazed by the amount of little details in the game and wondered why they couldn't do it in the later Medal of Honor Frontline. Then I realized that a computer is far more powerful than a game system such as the XBOX, something I overlooked when I was worrying about the quality of the game. The little details that I am referring to are things like the shell casings flying from my allies gun when he fires, each one bouncing off of walls and rolling across the floor, and shrapnel, dirt and peices of wood flying from a grenade explosion. The graphics are a little rough around the edges, but they are far from bad. I was never once dissapointed by them. The character models are good and the explosions are detaled. Now, I'm just saying that they could be better for those of you who can't enjoy a game unless the graphics are top notch. In my view, the graphics are still great. I have a 32MB graphics card and the game still looks great with the texture detail set for medium (the framerate never drops on this setting no matter how crazy the fighting gets). The sound is excellent, from the weapons to the great orcastral score that always fits the level perfectly. The games 30 levels are very well layed out and very challanging. I am playing with the difficulty level set for medium and I often find myself repeating the same level over and over again putting myself on the verge of crushing the mouse. However, no matter how frustrated this game will make you, you'll always find yourself starting the game back up and having another shot at it. The controls are great and easy to get the hang of. There is no way to zoom in and look down the sights (aside from sniper rifles) which can be a problem at times, but little things like that aren't enough to bring this game down. I noticed many reviewers complaining about the levels not providing enough ammo for you to complete the mission. I guess the people who are complaining about this must spend time between fights shooting pictures on the walls or something, because I have not once run out of ammo for all my weapons, and I can only recall one occasion where I run out for everything but my pistol, and even then I just took out a few more enemys and I was loaded back up and on the move. The AI isn't the best, but far better than the AI in it's console brothers. They don't do much in terms of trying to find cover, but this makes the battles more intense in a way. There is more action if everyone is standing in the middle of the street blasting away at each other rather than running around trying to find a good place to hide whenever they see an enemy. The AI is also very good with grenades. As for the accuracy issue that the AI in Frontline has... it's a little too good in Allied Assault. The fact that an enemy soldier can nail me with a MP40 submachine gun from 400 feet away gets on my nerves and the snipers will drop you before you even know what happened. The D-Day mission in Allied Assault is very action packed and extreamly hard at first. It took me a while to figure out how many MG42s where on the cliffs and in the bunkers because I was too busy trying to get behind something. When your landing craft reaches shore, the ramp drops and the four soldiers in front of you are immediately cut down by machine gun fire coming right into the ship. You have to jump out and wade ashore with MG42 fire landing all around you. It took me almost ten trys before I finally made it out of the water and got behind a shingle without being cut down in four feet of water. However, with my health already very low after being hit so many times while trying to get to cover, I was promptly shot to pieces the second I poked my head out when I tryed to run to another shingle about eight feet away. When you eventually make it to the barbed wire fence farther up on the beach, you have to destroy the barrier so your forces can reach the bunkers. The invironments are very good and nicely accessable. You can go into many buildings, take cover behind debris and man machine guns. MOHAA isn't the most realistic game, though. The fact that you are either on your own or with very small groups of soldiers much of the time makes you wonder how you can take on a whole army of enemy troops. The unit damage is very unrealistic as well (I was under the impression that a person is supposed to die when he takes two M1 garand rounds to the spine and one to the back of the head). There is also the matter of your character being able to carry a pistol, a submachine gun, a heavy automatic rifle, a sniper rifle, at least four hand grenades, a radio, demo charges and an anti-tank weapon all at the same time. Medal of Honor Allied Assault also has a great if somewhat difficult to figure out online multiplayer. I prefer playing games online at places that have everything already set up allowing you to just boot it up and play. Gamespy is more of an "I'll let you play in my sandbox, but you have to provide your own toys" kind of thing. Sure, you can just join a public server match, but I don't really like to get involved in too much of that stuff. If you're looking for a realistic and historicly accurate WWII game, you should try Call of Duty (unless your computer can't handle Call of Duty's system requirements). However, if you are looking for a fun FPS, or just a good game set in WWII with great multiplayer, this is the game that you want.

Okay, fist off this game is heck of a lot fun. while in other games its just shoot, shoot, shoot, this game is fun because you just do more! twice you disgiuse yourself as a german officer, while other times you sneak a ride in the german transport trucks. and theres 6
huge missons each with optional objectives to do to get medals. but i truly think that this game was the first real WWII game. okay, call of duty is good. but this game created a furiocity of shelling and machine gun fire on the freezing water of normandy that no other game may even have come close to exept the sequel MOH frontline for ps2. but even that isn't as good as the omaha beach level. what keeps it fun is 2 things. first, the variety of the missions. ist not just kill kill kill(okay so thats mostly it). ist rescue the downed pilot before its too late! detroy the mustard gas facility! second, the expansion packs are a great addition to the original game. the only flaw is the slight unrealism. like when you blow up a u-boat and kill 1000000000000 germans along the way. it truly was the first REAL WWII game.hey, why am i typing? i should be playing1 so buy this game! it wont tear up your system like some other games will cuz' of the system
requirements. runs on 98! so stop reading, order now!

Very Fun WW2 game.

This game would rate a 5 overall, but I had to uninstall norton ghost in order to play it without it crashing. I also had problems with windows live messenger running in background. I have an ati radeon 9600 running under charge of an amd athlon xp barton with a gig of ram at 400mhz; There should be no problems with handling this game at all. Once I got rid of the two progams from running in the background it performed like a champ. The only other thing about this game is that the enemy can sometimes shoot you even if their guns are pointed 20 degrees in the wrong direction, but that was ok it only happened a couple of times and I killed them quick anyway.

On the good side, there is too much to talk about so I will only touch on the best of the best. The Omaha beach landing, holy crap, that was like the real deal as far as death goes. I died about a hundred times before I made it even onto the beach. Save quick and save often on that one. The sniper level actually has good snipers hiding very well I don't expect that it would have been any easier than that, don't get flustered you have to sneak inch by inch and kill enemy that are hidden from rooftops to groundlevel and anywhere in between.
The best thing you can do is to get and play this game then next get call of duty. That way call of dutys graphics and overall gameplay won't blow you away until you have enjoyed this game. Both are good but play this one first and you will get your money's worth out of both.

ATI X200M wont work with this game

The game is very good, but ATI X200M video card wont work with this game, even on the lowest video settings you'll will get sluggish frame rates, the ATI X200M, found in a lot of Laptops has a lot of problems with OpenGL games, so if you have a Laptop make shure you dont have this video card before buying.

The game is very good, I just wanted to make a point so that you don't go to the same level of frustration as I did.

Defenitly a great game. I beat it in like, a week. The length of the game is not as long as I would like, but still very fun.

Gameplay:4.8/5
Lots of fun. No really boring stuff like solving a puzzle, or avoiding some garuds. Alought there is a couple parts where you have to avoid sherchlights. its nice when your under cover and you shoot someone, its not gameover. Sometimes they don't even sound an alram. lots of guns to use. My favroite being the shotgun. The controlls sre very simple. Use, reload, and movement, using the mouse to aim.

Audio:5/5
Nice gunshot sounds. Especially the sniper rifle. when you shoot it, theres an echo. Music is O.K. But I don't really listen to it. i'm to busy fugring out where some sniper is. Nice explosions sounds.

Graphics;4/5
Being an older game, the graphics are not top notch. Nothing real fancy.

Realilisem:3.5/5
Although there is alot of little things like oil comming out of barrels, helments comming off and stuff like that, the UNrealilism things like on the last level you exfltrate a base alone, killing 100+ germans.
And in the 1st level, when you walk into a room, theres these guys playing cards. If you walk to just the right spot, the all jump out of there chairs, but they don't do anyhting till they can see you. Ironically, you get shot alot becuse they always see you before you see them. Once I fired an entire clip of shotgun round into a capitan guy before he finnaly slumped to the ground.

Apropreitness:4/5
Theres no blood or gore. Just some gray vapor. Of course the main idea is killing people, so its not for younger kids. And on ohamah beach(I died like 50 times on that one) when you get these bombs for you capitan, if you don't get them fast enough, he says,"What the h**l are you doin powel!? Get those bombs!". But thats it.

Over all its very fun and i got mine for five bucks so its defenitly worth the money.

P.S. I would use my own account for this review, but i haven't bought anything yet.

P.P.S.Heres a link to the web site. [...].

MOH Allied Assault is a great 1st person shooter game and I really was impresssed with it. Yet I would advise you to read the following so as to decide wether you want to purchase it or not:

1. Requires a very fast computer with atleast 256MB Ram, 700Mhz and a Very Very good Video card if you want to really experience the charm of the game.

2. Different from the PS2 version. The PS2 Version is way better!!

3. Moderate Graphics..Nothing Great!!Similar to the prior MOH games!

4. No Blood and no Gore. Takes away the fun of killing the Nazis!!

In conclusion if your computer meets the above listed requirments, If you can deal with the moderate graphics and if you can forget blood and gore, GO GET IT BABY!!
