The gameplay is amazing, story is great, and the controls are awesome. The only problem is that the game isn't long enough.

God of War is a really fun fast paced action game, but one that you have played before. It is deeply indebted to Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, not that you are looking for originality in these types of games. In fact, when your health or magic levels up it looks identical and makes an identical sound effect to when this happens in Ninja Gaiden. It's uncanny! Anyway, what does GOW does well is provide an outlet for sensational over the top action and a good execution of an epic story (even thought the game is short). If the developers had copied DMC and NG a little closer (which they should have) I would have liked more bosses and a longer journey.

A gem. This is the best video game I have played. Grand Theft Auto is a close second, but this by far has the greatest amount of action, superlative graphics, difficulty, top notch fighting/gore, etc. If you are a playstation owner, are older than 12, and have not played this yet, you are missing out.

PS2 still has a little life left in it

I personally am more of a Final Fantasy kind of guy than a hack n slasher but I have enjoyed "Tomb Raider", "Soul Reaver", and "Devil May Cry" in the past. The movement of the character is very fluid compared to these other games and makes the combat very fun. The puzzle element is there as in these other games but isn't such a frustrating focal point. The violence and availability of ways to kill oponents was astonishing. The cut scenes also push the limit. In one early scene the character yells at some topless women in his bed to put clothes on and get out. Overall I say the game is very worth while.

this game is f'n awesome!!! way better then prince of persia, spartan warrior, resident evil, etc. this game blew my mind. can't wait until GoW 2 is out. if you don't think this game kicks *ss, something is wrong with you!
