Not for the little ones!

I'm sure this is a great game for older kids, but unless your 5 year old can read, try something else. There are a lot of written instructions on screen and the only way the little ones (4, 5, 6 year olds) can play is if you intend to sit side by side and play with him. (Not entirely a bad idea either.) But if you're looking for a game the little ones can play by themselves, look elsewhere.

This is the worst game I have ever seen. I cant believe a great company like Amazon could stoop so low as to put this on thier sight.

Getting there...but not all that.

PokéMon is nothing more than a decent RPG. Nothing speicial. I am NOT a PokéHater! I am a PokéWAKER. Someone that wakes ppl up from that stupid trance called PokéMon and into the world of a MUCH better RPG...Final Fantasys I-IX (1-9). I have VII(7) and, trust me, it's 30x longer than PokeMon and at least 10x harder than PokeMon. Compared to FF7, PokeMon is a PokePushover. It's WAY easy. So go peel yourself away from PokeFlop and power up 'dat PSX. Out.

Hmmmmmm.

pokemon gold is ok. i dont recomend it becuse i got bored with it after 10 weeks so unless you are the most serious gamer in the world dont expect a very good game.

They should have kept the original 151 Pokémon!

Overall this game is fun and a nice sequel to the original Pokémon adventures, the graphics have improved a lot and the sound has better quality. This game, just like Pokémon Silver has a lot more than Red, Blue and Yellow and is also more challenging, one of the greatest things this game can do is actually get you emotional, how? Well, if you were a fan of the original adventures, then returning to Kanto as a whole new person where everything has changed might get you pretty emotional.

The bad thing, is however the addition of new Pokémon species, I trully believe the original 151 were enough, now there's simply too many. The designs of many of these new creatures look "robotish" and "allienish", they don't have the charm of the original. Also, I began to lose track when these came out, I can't remember the names of all and it is next to impossible to complete your collection here, even with both packs, I believe you are required to get Mew to have full collection and Mew is nowhere to be seen, I hope the developers weren't specting each one of us to get Mew from a special event or by using a Game Shark. Anyways, overall this game was fun, lasted a pretty long time, enough to give you something to do for a while, but my point is there are way too many Pokémon.

PRETTY GOOD BUT PEOPLE ARE TO EASILY TAKEN

this is a cool game i am going to buy it i am a fan of RPG's and i can't stand the hype that pokemon has created it is the most ridiculose thing i have ever seen pokemon the movie, pokemonthe tvsho, pokemon the computer. i think the game was fun and challenging and i had a good time and i sometimes experiment with trying to get the best popssible pokemon but give me a break people it is not that amazing the movie was ridiculouse and the card game could use some major shaping up in. so all ion all i am waiting to play because it's fun yah! but i am not drooling to get it so all you people who think pokemon is so amazingly amazing that the world would come down in fiery and dark apocolypse need to wake up and smell the snorlax

Yellow started to pump up pokemon, but gold is gigantic compared to yellow you can set the time for daylight savings or have a radio and a cell phone and you can only catch certain pokemon in night and day your mother also calls you when you first start and every time you battle she save some of the money and she even buys stuff for you with it if you thought yellow was good then you will love this

Think about it for a second

I'll start off with this, I am not by any means a Pokemon fan. I hate the show and believe that nearly all of those mutated things with their trainers and merchandise should ....

There, now you can see that I don't like this Pokemon fad at all. I played Red and Blue, and they were good, yes they were actually good. They may [stink]when it comes to TV programs and merchandise, but this franchise is popular for a ... good reason. These games are by far some of the best RPGs ever made for the Game Boy. The monsters may look like something some Japanese artist cobbled together in his sleep, and yes they have ...names that only 7yr olds care about pronouncing, and yes, the whole fad behind this is incredibly huge and anyone above age 5 has good reason to hate, and fear it. These games are good, and this is much better than the first two. The new monsters are very stupid, but the games are pretty fun....

I liked this game but i have to say, I liked Crystal and Silver better. This is a very good game, you would think it was the same but it really wasn't.

One to be played in Retro-vision

When I originally played this game, I also had Pokémon Blue, and I was focused mainly on the 'primary goal' of "Gotta Catch 'Em All". The new features of Breeding to get eggs to hatch, and finding certain monsters at certain times of the day, were, at the time, only tools to that end. (Call me a "Team Rocket Grunt"... if you dare.). But after playing P.Ruby and P.Sapphire I realize how much more skill is needed in staying up until Midnight, turning on the game, looking for a Gastly at 'Nite'... and not hide under the blanket with a flashlight; or catching a Pikachu to raise and have it raise a Pichu family of offspring...
Visually, P.Gold is "twice-as-good" as Red/Blue/Yellow, in part to it being wholly designed for the Gameboy Color (and yes, the Gameboy Advance can play it too). The Pokédex Encyclopidia animations are nice, too. And for those that notice: The introductions of a Secret Base of sorts- with Record Mixing, decorating your room, more involvement of the Professor in your training, more specialized Pokéballs, plant tending, and more of an after-Elite Four storyline.
The biggest draw back in the storyline, though, is effectivly dropping the originally unnamed land of Kanto to the background with not as much to do beside fighting the older Gym Leaders.
