I played pokemon red and blue but now gold and silver came out and its 3 years from when the kid saved the poke planet.I love this game and I can't get enough of it.You don't need to cheat to beat it its just as easy without cheating.I loved going through Johto and beating the 8 gym leaders then the elite 4 and lance. After that I took the boat to Ken.. and beat the other 8 gym leaders. It is a wonderful game and I REALLY recomend it.I loved getting all 16 badges. Its fun to play and is WAY BETTER then Red and Blue(also yellow ...don't get it)

Good Game

It's the same idea as pokemon silver and crystal. I have all of the games (except green version) and this one is the second best (red is the best). There's 16 gym leaders, a whole new pokemon league(but it's weaker than pokemon red, blue, yellow), and you get a chance to battle Ash Ketchum(Red)!

I like this game because you can get more better TM's plus 2 new HM's. You can also clone your pokemon in pokemon gold. I think this is a good game because you can get Ho-oh at Level 40 and it will know sacred fire. But when you catch Lugia it will not knwo areoblast. These pokemon are pretty dumb deleting there special attack.

This is a pretty good game. I can't complain with that though it sometimes gets a little long like all of the pokemon games.

I hope you have fun with your new game and by the way, the pokemon league is very easy. All yu have to do is train your pokemon up to level 50-55 and you will have no problem defeating it!

An Amazing Improvment from Red, Blue and Yellow!

This game is much better than Red, Blue or Yellow! The graphics have improved greatly!

You are no longer a tiny little Ash character, you are now a lifelike character. The character anmation is amzing and now there is battle animation!

The only bad part is that it's takes forever to get items like Pokeballs and when you've found them you've already missed the chance to catch alot of pokemon.

fantastic.....above and beyond red,blue,etc.

Gold and silver take other pokemon versions and build on that premise, while tossing in a whole lot more. Besides the features of most pokemon having a gender, real-time gameplay, and breeding pokemon gold and silver have little things that make gameplay a lot more efficent and fun. Things like new HMs,TMs,attacks, and pokemon breathe life into this now-old series. One could spend hours just manipulating pokemon throgh breeding. If you're nostalgic for the old versions of pokemon, don't worry; you'll see your old, um, friends. All pokemon fans and the ones curious of pokemon should get this game.

The best Pokemon game ever.

I have played every Pokemon game from Red and Blue to Emerald. (Japan Version) This one simply kicks butt. I say start with Totodile.

This is my favorite game because it has day and night, 251 pokemon, 16 badges (Instead of 8) And a lot more. I even know some people who don't like pokemon, but they like Pokemon Gold + Silver. If you want some screen shots, ... ...

Fabulous!

This is actually 2 games in one! You first start out as a trainer from New Bark town and work your way through the land of Johto collecting Pokemon, earning badges, stopping bad 'ol Team Rocket, and hem you go to the Pokemon league. After that, you can travel to Kanto (The world from the origional pokemon games)and battle there! You get to go through the whole world in Kanto collecting Pokemon and earning badges. To travel from world to world (Kanto, Johto)you have to take a really cool train ride! Some pokemon only come out at night, while others only come out during the day! I would highly reccomend this game to anyone! It is the best one out there!

This is the best game boy game! With all the new pokemon in it it's the best! You start out in New Bark Town, then journey through Johto, then go back to New Bark Town and surf and your in Kanto! Then journey through Kanto. You should have 16 badges when you finish. If you like gold get crystal and silver too!

One of my favorite RPGs of all time!

Say what you want but Pokemon Gold and all other versions are completely awesome RPGs. It is way better than the stupid final fantasy series! The storyline aint anything epic but it's good enough. Say it's too kiddie but there is just so much to do! There so many side quests to play through, and pokemon to collect. If you are so scared of people making fun of you because you play pokemon than so be it. There is no other game I've ever played that has had so much to do. It is definetly a classic game. Bring on Pokemon Ruby/ Sapphire!!!!!

One to be played in Retro-vision

When I originally played this game, I also had Pokémon Blue, and I was focused mainly on the 'primary goal' of "Gotta Catch 'Em All". The new features of Breeding to get eggs to hatch, and finding certain monsters at certain times of the day, were, at the time, only tools to that end. (Call me a "Team Rocket Grunt"... if you dare.). But after playing P.Ruby and P.Sapphire I realize how much more skill is needed in staying up until Midnight, turning on the game, looking for a Gastly at 'Nite'... and not hide under the blanket with a flashlight; or catching a Pikachu to raise and have it raise a Pichu family of offspring...
Visually, P.Gold is "twice-as-good" as Red/Blue/Yellow, in part to it being wholly designed for the Gameboy Color (and yes, the Gameboy Advance can play it too). The Pokédex Encyclopidia animations are nice, too. And for those that notice: The introductions of a Secret Base of sorts- with Record Mixing, decorating your room, more involvement of the Professor in your training, more specialized Pokéballs, plant tending, and more of an after-Elite Four storyline.
The biggest draw back in the storyline, though, is effectivly dropping the originally unnamed land of Kanto to the background with not as much to do beside fighting the older Gym Leaders.
