Good game but the Geo-Mod feature is barely ever useful

This is a good FPS game, but I can't say there's much in the game that makes it shine above Half-Life - especially when you consider that Half-Life is about 4 years older than this game. The Geo-Mod technology is cool, but I can't remember a single door that I could blast through. Walls, yes, sometimes you can blow holes in these to useful effect....but doors, you wouldn't need to blast through anyway, because if there's something on the other side that's useful, then you can usually open them when you need to anyway. So, other than the Geo-Mod, which is seriously under-utilized since you can't use it everywhere, this is really just an okay game.

I need more gaming.........too short!

This game was great from the start, graphics, sound, environment, characters and game play was a perfect 5. I dont think this game was as long as other FPS I've played, I guess that would be the only downside for me:) Great game overall and would recommend it to anyone.

A lot of people smash the geo-mod tech, but really leads to a fun experience. I mean, how many times do you get to blast away enemies throught walls? How many times do you get to snipe someone with a fully-automatic sniper rifle? For fans of this genre, this is a must buy.

Red Faction will be the basis for future first-person shooters. I have been a Half-Life fan since it first came out, and this game, while not as revolutionary as HL, is still awesome. Where else can you make endless tunnels in rock walls? Getting ... kicked every time you round a corner? Blow through the corner with the amazing Rail Gun. This game is great. A must buy for any FPS fans!

if you played half life and u love it, u will definitely love this game. its nice crisp graphics and variety of fictional weapons give it a wonderful feel. the plot is exactly the same as half-life, with different ppl, and different allies. a really good buy

i can't say much that hasn't been said in the other reviews..

Geo-Mod rocks.. the only thing is, in Multiplayer games, there comes a point where, after blowing the scenery away for a while, the walls won't Geo-Mod anymore.. i guess there's a limit to how much of the scenery can be destroyed at one time.. i don't know why, but i wish it weren't like that. another player and myself took it upon ourselves to collapse a bridge. we worked on it for a while, and just before we could get it down, the geo-mod stopped working.

anyway.. its a minor complaint, and i'm sure there's a way around it.. i just haven't found it.

I hope more people buy this game and the upcoming sequel i've heard about.. that way there will be more people playing online.. fun stuff.

Get it for the multiplayer

While this game lacks a bit in single player, it's fantastic in multiplayer.
The single player is a bit of standard fare, just running around endlessly shooting people. The Geo-Mod engine isn't really utilized, either, except in two levels (and in one of those it's really only used once). It's pretty creative, though. Another flaw is the cutscenes, whose flow with the game is poor, although you may quickly forget when you see the detail of the facial expressions (lip sync, moving eyes).
But definitely this game is fantastic in multiplayer. The netcode occasionally causes lag and character skipping, but not on a good (and dedicated) server. The Geo-Mod definitely shines brightly in multiplayer, especially in CTF. There's nothing like collapsing a building onto your flag, much to the chagrin of your opponents ;)

This game;s graphic is so good. It's real fun.
If you have lot of stress from business of yours, This game, is for you.
But One THING I didn't like about was that... It was Like other games.
In shooting games , you get many bugs...Like when you play online.
That's why I gave 4 stars. But still,
the most exciting shooting game I've ever played in my whole entire
LIFE~
Also, I think it works on XP.
(it works on my XP computer...)

Awesome Engine, Lacking Gameplay

This game has, by far, one of the best engines in a first person shooter I have ever seen. Many of the abilities and effects are simply increadable. The only problem I have with the game is that they never use the powerful ability to blow through walls at any point in the campaign. At no point does an enemy (intentionaly) blow through a wall nor is it ever necissarry for you to get into the awesome drilling tank and tunnel to a new area. I (by happenstance) found a half dozen or so secrets this way, but it was never crucial to the plot. Also, the last boss was a little easy for my tastes, and you have to play a combination guessing game with a timelimit after killing the final boss, which is rather... worthless.

I like this game because of its revolutionary approach to first person gaming,Because if the geo-mod technology,You get to blow walls open! But seriously,it adds a strategic touch to it. Plus,with so many new weapons and a more than entertaining storyline,this is a must buy.
