Good FPS but.......

The graphics on this game is pretty good. I was disappointed to find out how short the game was. I have read some of the other posts about needing a objectives screen, but the game isn't that complicated to need one IMHO... I was also annoyed by the game only giving you the only 2 choices of starting completely over or exiting a game when you die if you haven't quicksaved. Sometimes I found myself backtracking very far just to get healed. Also, I would have liked more opportunities to use the heavy artillery weapons more and it is very hard to pick people off from a distance with the sniper rifle because you always get noticed and they move out of the way.

I bought this game recently, and I am REALLY satisfied. This game is great, especially now that its only $$$, it provides a great challenge, but not unbearably hard. it has many times of weapons, even a gun that shoots through walls. The multiplayer is also great, because there is always someone on it. The levels in it are also nice, some are big, some are small, and some are in between, and theres 3 game modes, such as Deatch Match, Team Death Match, and Capture the flag. Since this is only $$$ now, I would highly recomend it for anyone looking for a cheap 1st person shooter that is very good, I would also recomend it to anyone who just wants a first person shooter.

Red Faction is 1 of the best fps of 2001. It has an exciting story that gets you hooked. It has tons of fun wepons for all your fragging needs. THis game has a exciting new game engine called GEO-MOD tech which basicly means that u can blow up the environment. Some fun things you could do with this is make a foxhole, blow holes in walls to get to secret areas, or even blow up a bridge to stop movimg tanks or forces in their tracks! This game is very good at lighting and visual effects too. This game has many fun and exciting secrets and mysteries to find. Just for a little tidbit the funniest thing i saw was lighting bots in multiplayer on fire with flamethrowers! They run around screaming like little girls until u see their burning corpse drop to the floor!!! I would recemend this game to anyone who enjoys action/adventure, first person shooters, or just blowing stuff to oblivion!!! :)

Simply put, Red Faction is a good shooter. It's fun, the graphics are decent, and it's funny. It's different in that it's a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. I often chuckle at the things that happen in the game and the way my enemies will cry for mercy before I blow them up or shoot them. For the price you've got a very good value here. If you're a shooter fan, then get a copy of Red Faction.

Great game, good game play, interesting story that gets you feeling like you're actually accomplishing something... the ability to blow through the walls is alittle overrated and pointless but adds alittle personality to the game. The ending as I said was very anticlimatic, I beat it after like 2 tries, but still this game kept me involved in the story the whole way so I can't knock it too much. Graphics are good, Game play as good as any other FPS, with added bonus of riding in vehicles which controlled surprisingly well. Worth 40 bucks

First off, I'd like to say that Red Faction's premise is pretty cool. Rebeling against the enemy, following a mysterious character named eios, its all good. The first couple of levels are cool, and the guns are sweat, my favorite is the sniper rifle. But I found myself thinking, "do I ever use the geo-mod technology?" Honestly, its cool and all, but do you ever have enough rockets or explosives in handy to blow open a door, when you could just find a way to open it. Another complaint, although you can hijack 5 vehicles, you hardly ever use some, especially the driller. Hijacking should be a pivatle moment when you can use them against the ememy. In conclusion, Red Faction is a pretty good game, but has a few problems in it

Red Faction is a very good FPS, especially if you can't afford the more expensive titles. Single player mode is superb; neat storyline, excellent gameplay, cool vehicles. The weapons are some of the best I've seen; a rail gun that can see behind corners, the sniper rifle, the heavy machine gun. One drawback, though, is that most of the fighting takes place indoors, in darker areas. This game would have been even better if they let a little more light in. Also, the enemy characters can get a little annoying when they repeat the same phrases over and over ("I'll get you, miner!", "Try me, miner!"). Multiplayer mode is a blast - Geo-Mod really shines here. Definitely worth your money.

Red Faction is a wonderful game. The graphics are beuatiful but get blocked up some, but otherwise, they're good. The game lags a
bit----possibly because I use it on XP?
The story is amazing----with all the twists and turns you need,
you can hijack 5 vehicles!
Geo-Mod technology is amazing, blow up walls if the door won't open, overload gas and water systems.

Hijack these vehicles:
1. Driller--used for mining--run over guards and drill through walls.
2. Ultor Submarine--Steer through the water and luanch tracking missiles at enemy subs. (Careful, enemy subs have tracking missiles, too).
3. ATV--Dirve or use mounted machine gun. (You can't do both at once. So park if you want to shoot. (Later, going across a canyon, a guy named Orion in the rebellion drives and you use the machine gun.
4. APC (Armored Personal Carrier)--Blast machine gun fire at mercenaries, or blow them up with a missile. Not as fast as the ATV, but you could run down a merc, it's really heavily armored, too.
5. Aesir Fighter--Cool, fly and kill enemy fighters, guards and mercs, or fly low and behead them.

You get 15 weapons including.

Sub machine gun--cool, it has two kinds of amuntion
Flame thrower--it's funny when you set your enemies on fire, they scream and run around till they die
Rail driver--one shot kill, same for your enemies guns, infra-red scope--see through walls.

Theres much more. The game is long, first you riot against the guards, then a half mutated strong badass, Capek. Then face off with a hard, bitchy colonel, Massko. Kill her, decode a bomb the game is over.
Red Faction leaves you wanting for more----does Ultor die. (You don't face-off with him as Parker. What does Parker do? Do the mercenaries eliminate the rescue squad?
Does Parker like Eos?
Yes.

Overall the games good, Geo-mod teconology's cool. There's quite a bit of lag but nothings perfect.

Pros:
Great story...Vivid graphics...Geo-Mod technology is flat-out amazing...Control five vehicles...Use fifteen weapons

Cons:
Lag--(due to my XP?)...AI isn't heavily scripted, but hard to beat. (Espeicially the mercenaries.

Note: the defualt controls [stink], at least I think they do, adjust this, video, audio, see a game trailer and much more!

Anyway, it's a good game, definately worth picking up. (For those of you who like short games, like Max Payne, this is much longer and possibly more challenging. (I had it for four months and I only beat it today!

I played this game for the first time at my friends house over a LAN/Network hookup, and it was so amazingly fun! The graphics are okay, but they are showing age. The weapon technology is amazing! Theres like 15 weapons and some of them are: Heavy Machine gun, Rocket Launcher, Precision rifle, Sniper rifle, grenades, and the best weapon is the Magnetic Rail Driver. That weapon drives metal slugs through the walls! The coolest thing is that when you right-click with the rail driver, you use an infrared scope (heat seeking) to see your enemies through walls! The single player part is alot like Half-Life, so itll be fun if you liked Half-Life. BUY THIS GAME AND GOOD LUCK>>> JOIN THE FACTION!

Great single, better multiplayer

Red Faction is a great multiplayer game that doesnt require a tip-top computor to run. The single player is great, but in my oppinion it really shines in multiplayer. There are plenty of maps and plenty of weapons to play with
