This game is great. If you like games like Half-Life you will like RED FACTION. It's a long game and has a pretty decent story line to suck you in.Computer requirements aren't too bad either. I ran the game with a low end video card. you get lots of saves if you like to save a lot.AI characters are okay. The very end of the game will have you cursing or loving the last 10 seconds of gameplay. This is a must have game.

The Demo i downloaded from FilePlanet was 127mb and when that happens i usually think the demo levels are gonna be huge. But they took me 5 minutes to pass. The way the characters run is poxy and the AI isnt to great but all and all i think its the GEO-MOD technology that really shines. Neing able to make a tank fall off a rock bridge simply by firing a missle at one end is pretty fun. And the glss shattering is quite fun. In the extras mode it allows you to have all weapons and you can pretty much dig your way to china with a rocket launcher. Quite nice but the gameplay is quite dull.
A Must Have

This game is the best yet. The Geo tech alows you to make holes in the walls expanding forever. The weapons are awesome. The only defect is that it is very hard. Download the demo at gamespot.com

I got this game, like I'm sure many others have, for the Geomod system. The idea of blasting through a wall seems like so much fun, and it is. Multiplayer is easy to join and has more than enough people to play with. Cheater (using mods) are a rare sight on the game, though they do come by from time to time.
I found single player to be a big disapointment. Just your basic "go here and shoot that", not bad, but with the Geomod it could have been so much better.
If you don't plan to play multiplayer, this game proboly isn't worthi t. But for multiplayer, best game I have ever palyed.
This game is not. . .

Half-Life
Deus Ex
No One Lives Forever
Undying
well written
filled with stunning visual images
groundbreaking
deserving of the hype
This game is also not. . .
a bad waste of time
a bad game to play while waiting for something else to come out
buggy
Ultimately there is nothing new here.
Geo Mod technology? Call me when the engine is at version 5.
Fun to blow stuff up...

Hehehehehe... How many of you have played Perfect Dark? Ok, how many of you have planted about 1000 mines and then watched in dismay as the only thing it does beyond the explosion is scorch the wall? The first thing I'm going to do in this game is blow everything up in a level. I'm going to see how far I can dig a hole with mines. I'm going to make a peep hole to snipe people with my guns........
The Truth About the PS2 Version

I was just reading the reviews and I saw that people were talking not so highly about the PS2 version.
1. The PS2 version rocks, contrary to what you might hear. All of the Geo-Mod effects are the same; the AI is the same; it has the same storyline; and the graphics are excellent!
2. The only way to imprive the graphics would be to smooth out the characters and make them more round (not that the character models really need this kind of makeover).
3. The storyline is great! If you take into account all of the chahacter bios and personalities that develop, then the only stories that are better come from the "heroes" of the gaming world, such as Metal Gear Solid or any installment of the Final Fantasy series.
4. The controls are actually very good for a console FPS. The controls are also used in the PS2 version of Unreal Tournament. Left Analog to go forwards/backwards and strafe; Right analog for turning/pitch (great for sniping); R1 & R2 for Primary & Secondary fire; and X to manipulate environment ("use"). I play all of the FPS games on the comp (Half Life, Rainbow Six, you name it) at my friend's house =). I am used to both, and if your tiny little rock for a brain cant deal with two ways to move your character, well, then, you should go back to your hobby of hitting a wall with a stick.
5. If your computer does not live up to par (like my 300 MHz P.O.S. Special Edition), then get the PS2 version!
6. If you don't have a PS2 or a fast computer...well...I guess you are SOL on this one Billy.
p.s.: The PS2 graphics are not fuzzy/blurry!
