Red Faction Is One Of The Best Computer Games Ever Made

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 9

Red Faction totally rocks. You'll have to have a upper end computer to see how great this game looks and sounds. I was amazed how real the rock in the mines looked. And I was totally amazed at how real the faces on the characters looked. And the characters actually say different lines to you and not the same old thing over and over again like in other computer games I've played. I don't care what other reviewers say, go out and buy this game if you have a upper end computer and you want to see a great first person shooter. I would have to say this game ranks right up there with Half-Life. What amazes me is the vehicles and the stationary weapons you see throughout the game. Everything is so easy to operate and it is so cool to see the vehicle weapons and the stationary weapons in action. I've never been able in other computer games to get into a vehicle or behind a stationary weapon and just blast away with both bullets and rockets. This is the first computer game made where you can make holes in the surrounding walls with both rockets and bombs. Hey, I don't care what anybody saids. I could watch the explosions into walls a million times over and never get tired of it. To get into a submarine and shoot torpedos and watch the torpedos go through the water and hit something is like watching a real submarine in action. I highly recommend this game to anybody who wonders what it would be like to work in underground mines on the planet Mars.
This game almost put you there.

Greatest First Person Shooter Ever!

This game is simply the best. It is not perfect but almost. Anyone who likes shooters WILL LOVE this game. Geo-Mode in this game is what tips the scales. This is like Half-Life with the ability to make your own trails in the game. No more doors you can't getr through because you don't have the right key, blast through it. Also you get control the vehicles you see in the game.
The story is very similar to that of Half-Life (It is a great story). The wide selection of weapons and "toys" adds up to extreme fun in this game. Most of the time you don't have to worry about problem solving. It is a pure kill everyone game will the option to kill innecent(?) workers. Any puzzles you have to solve are usually obvious.
Story twists add to the excitment and addrenaline to the game. The game is not the longest in the world and it is not the shortest. Basically it is as long as it takes to finnish the story, about one and half days.
Simply put this is a (revolution)ary game. You don't have to be a diehard shooter fan to love. Just get it!

When i first saw the review in a copy of pc gamer i was instantly hooked. i couldnt wait to get home and install the demo. i have logged many hours on the demo and i have yet to buy the game. im running it on my amd athlon 1.4 gtz with an ati rage fury pro 32meg card. the game runs fantastic. the game was much better than many of the fps i have played. of course i cant wait to play RTCW (...). i never had any trouble playing it. the story line is intrigueing and the weapons. Whoahaha nothing compares. i definately recommend this game to anyone of course it isnt for everyone but then again, have some good violent and bloody hours on this game.

A Change in Computer Gaming for the Greatest

Imagine playing Tribes for the very first time. That feeling of ,"I didn't know computers could do that." The feeling of "...Woah..."
Red Faction is a first person shooter with mind blowing realism. The graphics are clean and almost near flawless. The gameplay is fast and difficult but is extremely addicting. One could play for hours and not even realize the time.
Red Faction has fast and explosive on-line play as well as a long and challenging game for off-line play. Both gameplays are amazingly fun. I have played many games on-line (i.e. Tribes 1 and 2, all Quakes, Half-life: Counterstrike, etc.) and none amount to Red faction.
Of course all on-line games have their ups, Quake's gore, Tribe's defense ability, and Counterstrike's adventure, but Red faction is an all around great game. Being able to plow through walls with amazing and fun weapons and interact with virtually all surroundings, only adds to the excitement.
I would strongly recommend Red Faction to anyone with a love for first person shooters or a desire for fun. Red Faction is the perfed addition to any gamer's library or the greatest beginning of one.

Extremely cool game

I bought this game on the PS2 in anticipation of the PC version coming out. It is cool but Im just not gonna call it next gen or anything. The way things can be destroyed is cool, dont get me wrong but it isnt quite as revolutionary as it was made out to be. I must say the coolest thing is the way the glass shatters, its just soooo cool looking. But getting past the hype I found this to be a really fun title. The Death Matchs will be fun with bits of wall blowing up everywhere. Not too sure if my disliking of the games over-glorified luster is probably because the PS2 making the graphics look really blurry and the controls are just disgusting (if u are used to playing PC shooters that is). Just let me say that if you are lookin to get one good PC game this July, get Max Payne. It looks so unbelievable that it is mindboggling thinking how it will play. For those of you who are like me and just like buying up all the new titles, or someone looking for a good solid game with a fun story line and nice multiplayer possibilities then give this game a try. I cant wait to get my PC version and see it on my 3D ProphetIII, rid myself of that analog controller and get my Razer Boomslang mouse. Happy gaming :D

I tried the demo of the single player and multiplayer. What a game! I am a big fan of Half-Life and Unreal and this game is right up there. The "geo-mod" stuff is a great addition, but I really like the smooth graphics and a nice story line. I can't wait to get the full version. If you like FPS games, YOU REALLY NEED TO GET THIS GAME!

As good as Half-Life? Hell yeah!

I just got a copy of the big red faction demo on a cd and decided to try it out. Now, I have an HP Pavilion from late 1999 and wasn't expecting the game to be great, but it said I would be able to run it smoothly. With the level detail at medium, the charecter detail at high, decals on, and shadows and dynamic lighting off(I usually use this config as I don't think its any worse than the maxxed settings are), the game actually RUNS WELL! It looks like Half-Life on steroids with the better graphics, and the game DID slow down at some points, but I was running it on a 466 megahertz with no video card! The characters moved fluidly, and the only slowdowns were a slight pause when I blasted a hole in a wall. This game is fun, low requirments by modern standards, and the geo-mod is VERY cool!

Red Faction- Falling short of my expectations

Red Faction starts out as a great action escape game. THe problem is the plot goes down the drain. You start out revolting against to evil Ultor trying to escape from Mars, but than become you are controlled by the Red Faction leader to do a few tasks that lead you to destroying Ultor.
The game itself is not that challenging, and took me about 5 hours to finish it. Throughout the game you will have fun exploring thigns newly introduced to FPS gaming. For example the GEOmod technology is something that I found to be fun. Other things that might you might enjoy are the vehichles. Although the game has alot of new enjoyable things, it is simply a short game.
The multiplayer part of Red Faction gets old quick. When i first played in a multiplayer game I thougth it was great, but the same great thing wont stay great forever.
If you are thinking about getting this game I suggest getting the demo first and seeing if you like it. The price ... is alot for such a short game, but other people may like it.

This game is the most incredible thing I have ever seen! I have the Playstation 2 version and I'm going to get the PC version anyway. I am going to because I will be able to verse people over the internet with the death match feature! Anyway, in the game you play as Parker and your mission is to go to a mine in mars and stop this agency from harvesting the deadly material in the mine. Atleast that is what I think I'm trying to do.( I forget what happened at the begining because I've gotten so far). I find myself playing atleast 2 hours a day because of the engrossing storyline and the fun factor. If there's a tank coming your way, just blow a hole in the ground with a rocket launcher and it will fall right into it! Also with the pin point aiming mode, when the opportunity arrises, take aim and fire! The death match mode also gives it great replay value. Plus the geo mod engine lets you blow up just about everything you want! This game is one of my favorites and always will be. Five stars!

This game is good...but it lacks some stuff. The geomod of course is amazing. It adds a whole new level of strategy. I was trying to get into this room, so i shot open the windows and i still couldnt fit in, so i had no idea, and then i was like ohhhh i can blow it down! The submarine part is incredible. If anybodys seen or read the hunt for red october and liked it, youll love the submarines. The torpedoes look so cool, and theyre heat seeking so it keeps you on your toes. When your hit, instead of some stupid flash going off, the whole screen shakes and even tho its annoying, its so freakin realistic. The weapons are really cool too. Unlike some other games where you get like a frap ray luke skywalker blaster laser pistol, which is so dumb, this game offers real military-style weapons such as the assault rifle, which shoots in three round bursts like a real army gun. the shotgun is awesome, and the reload times make it difficult but again realistic. the pistol has a silencer which is really cool. also, the automatic weapons actually have recoil that throws off your aim, which is better than any other dumb gun. so the shooting part is not as bad as some say. the only bad parts about the game is that although its addictive its kindof repetitous. it is just like all the other fps games in the sense that you have to go searching for doors and such. i havnt got that far into the game, so im still optomistic about the gameplay. my advice is that if you havnt played every single fps game there is, get this game. if you like explosions and rapid fire battles, get the game. and if your into vehicles get the game. if you live in a box and do nothing but play computer games however, your not in for something that will blow you away. it blew me away, thats all i can say.
