RUN, BUY IT NOW! So far OFP is the most complicated game i've seen. Obviously, in the point of a game developer, it is complicated. Combine all those nice shooting games and drama, that's Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis!
HINT: This game is not just a fancy shooting game...like Quake! You don't spend hours playing this game jumping like an idiot frog! Serious.
An excellent creation of a simulated war conflict

It's been nearly more than 8 months that I purchased this great game from the nearby Software Store. I enjoyed playing this military-style and realistic game, though I did not like the model structure and how they reacted; they just seem to be toys or something like that, they do not turn their faces against you or act in a realistic way like Medal of Honor Allied Assault. But the most important thing in Operation: Flashpoint that we should take notice of is strategy. This awsome game requires a military strategic mind to control your squad or just how to engage the enemy if you're caught by an ambush or an outnumbering force. Also the open space that not all games provide is very interesting, so you can go anywhere you like on those islands without being bothered by an invisible boundary like in MoHAA. I also want to say that in most squad-based games no actual radio operator can be seen. You just hear your radio talking without seeing an actual one! I hope that the developers take this seriously, and also give us some artillery support in the next version of Flashpoint!
Oh, another thing. The radio signals weren't that precise; when requesting air support a squad leader or platoon Lt says something like this: "November One, this is Crimson one Actual, requesting air support on vicinity AT902474. T-80 platoon suspected to be in the field. This is crimson one actual over?".
Well something like that!
I hope an upcoming version of this game is underway. Now Gear up and prepare for the big fight with the commies!

As a novice PC gamer I was given this game as a gift. I was completely blown away by the realism and graphics not to mention the difficulty. I also enjoy the fact that there are limited cheat codes available that make this a true challange to any level of gamer. The graphics are seamless and move in a 360 degree environment with almost flawless effort. The controls are easy to master and the cut-out command key legend makes playing that much easier. I highly recommend this game to any fan of this type of involved first person shooter.

This is one of the best games ever! It is amazingly realistic. If you are shot in the chest or head good-bye. Leg: limp or have to crawl. Arm: lets just say it's going to take a few shots to bring a guy down. The enemy AI is great also. They throw grenades, target officers not grunts, and have very keen eyes. The single player missions are incredible! My favorite is when you land on the beach and have to capture a airport. It's ... hard, but very fun. Anyone who likes FPS should buy this game!

Get ready, they're coming! I had to expand my catalog of cuss words after playing this clunker. Be prepared for much weeping, knashing of teeth, and learning the art of wrapping your own wounds. Very realistic gameplay is this shooter's strong point; almost a testomonial against modern warefare as few get out alive and winning is an alien concept. Remind self to never buy game with only one save port! That's my biggest grievance. Shopping for cheats, I eventually found some and now at least have a running chance at finishing the campaign games which are very good....Give my cheats or give me...well, you know.
Several of the missions are great fun--until a machine gunner shows up! The AI is good, trust me--it doesn't forget faces and really gets upset when beaten! The designers evidently had several personality issues! Ever see Drowning Mona?
After returning to this off and on for two months, I've learned to accept it on its own terms and even beaten it a few times. In Sniper I commandered a tank and took out most of the enemy base; boy, did that feel good! Then a RPG soldier blew me to kingdom come....like I said, the AI is a bitter, vindictive foe.

A good game, when it came out, though it's a bit dated and behind the technology, now. However, it's a lot cheaper than some of the hot new games. It has different modes, within the war campaign. In first-person-shooter mode, it is generally fun, though sometimes, there are long, boring scenarios. Later in the campaign, when you drive tanks, the controls are too confusing, and it can become VERY frustrating. Also later in the campaign, you serve as an officer and must give orders to other soldiers, which is just too complicated and more like work than fun.
Real, real war

This 1st person shooter makes a new era in this kind of games. Maybe not so graphically espectacular as Medal of Honor or similars, but with realistic ballistics and weapons.
A single shot at 1000m can kill you and the weight of ammo and weapons is limited, so you can not behave as a Bradley tank as you do in MOHAA, for example.
The enviroment is very big, with a tactical use of maps and obstacles, and there is not so much pleople as in other shooters.
You can manage a wide range of infantry weapons, including RPG or LAW grenade launchers, guided AA and AT missiles, machine guns, and a wide range of vehicles, including M-60, M1A1, T-55, T72 tanks BMP or Bradley ATVs (nice realistics, but it is NOT a tank simulator), or helicopters (poorly realistic).
As a complement ther are some cars and even a bus, useful for ambientation.
This is not an arcade, is nearer a tactical trainer for an officer academy...
It comes with 3 campaigns, the original one for Western forces, Resistance (Nice Anti-soviet Propaganda exercise) and Red Hammer (A really shame if you are not an US citizen).
If you want to use this game as a soviet-eastern-block soldier, better make your own missions with the editor.
The editor has 2modes, one simple an manageable and the otherreally comprehensive but difficult to manage.
