The Legend of Dragoon was the best game i played on the playstation in a long time.Althogh i do not like the words they use like bastard or damn i do really like it.When i fist started playing in 2005 i thought the grapics were realy cool, and it took me a moth to finish it.and when i saw the end i thought "this is it,it's really over"then when i shut off my playstation and started to cry.I really didnt want it to be over, but then i said to myself that in another day ill play it again.
Its 2006 now and now im back on the fist disc battling doel and now that i got a bigger tv it will be more cooler then ever.
All i got to say is that you gotta buy it because it will touch your heart forever.

I have passed many rpg's like final fantasy 10 but I like to say that Legend Of The Dragoon is even better then FFX . Legend of the Dragoon will take you upon a great adventure , one sure thing though a hard adventure . I am 16 years old and I have bought the psx when I was 13 and I still say that Legend Of The Dragoon is the best RPG ever . It is worth to buy a sure thing . When I fist saw it it was in japanese but it hit me even in that language. One last thing all the fans of RPGS be sure to buy it the best of all RPGS Legend Of The Dragoon .

When I first played this game I was blown away at the presentation. Sony had put so much effort into making one of the Best Games Ever Made and they had succeeded. Everything about this game rom the excellent battle system to the amazing storyline with grab the gamer and not let go. When your not playing this game you'll be thinking about it wondering what will happen next. The graphics in this game are spetacilar for PS and the character and the emotion brought to this game by them is great. The game will take you EVERYWHERE. From a lowly cave to a mountain fortress to the city of the dead. Not to spoil anything but.... A certain someone will die in this game and many hours later in the city of the dead you will actually be reunited for a short while in an intense battle with eachother. I cannot stop raving about this excellent game. Five stars and beyond for this EPIC 4-disc long RPG!
A highly underrated game.

When I first borrowed this game from a friend, it sat for a while on my desk because I thought it was horrible after the first few minutes. The fights were slow...the battle system was horrible...the boss fights were horrendous. Finally, one day I played it again, and picked up from where I left off. From then on, I loved it!
You are Dart, the typical run-of-the-mill-hero-guy-in-cool-armor-with-equally-cool-hair-who-gets-caught-up-in-something-major guy. Eventually you meet a cool knight, a mysterious chick...etc. But the coolest part of the game was teh battle system. It's called Additionals, and requires a bit more skill than with [other games]. It requires extreme hand-eye coordination, and in my opinion, a body loaded to the brink with caffeine. If you can hit X when the two boxes align on the screen, you pull off a neat finisher. And mind you, we're talking about a split-split second interval here.
The Dragoon ability is my favorite part. I won't reveal that much, cause it contains spoilers, but you morph into characters that resemble Dragons, allowing the use of magic. It's very fun.
Take it from me, an avid FF fan...I base all judgements of RPGs off of Square's Masterpieces. Get Legend of Dragoon. You won't be dissapointed.
Pros:
Awesome Story
Unique Battle System
Dragoons...
Cons:
Innane transition times
Game is horribly slow at beginning
Only can carry a certain amount of items
This game is great, but stop comparing it to FF series.

..because it's just not possible! Final Fantasy has been around since the early 1990's (or earlier, I can't remember), LoD came out in '99, as a first for Sony. And I think they did an excellent job. The FF series has always been the high-light of the RPG world because it's been around for so long, it's been perfected, flaws are minor, and the series just plain nearly rocks everyone off their seat once they played it (i.e. King Sephiroth, and that fantastic ponderer, Squall.)
The characters may be slightly stale, occasionally, but it's liveable with. To me, that just means you have to dig deeper and PAY ATTENTION to dialouge and how the characters move (even a shrug means something). To me, Dart (sadly), is the weakest character when it comes to character. Everyone else had something that let you know what they were like.
So, don't think that because so many reviews say the characters stink, means they do. It's a matter of taste.
The music I didn't like when I first heard it, but, my boo boo, I was comparing it to the wonderful tunes of FF8. Once I suddenly told myself not to, the music is great! BOSS battle music really gets you going, and sad music...really is saaad!!
The graphics are definately good for being first time. Leaves blow in front of you, little creatures scamper in the woods when you walk in a forest, flags blow, water trickles etc.
The game-play is quite easy to master, after a difficult start. The additions are challenging, yet pack quite a punch when mastered. The voice acting could be better. The dubbing was done most horribly, mouths do not match up with words. The voices are fine though. This is a minor annoyance, since most of the characters talking...in the earlier parts of the game, are done when you can't see them anyway.
Relationships between the characters are entertaining and fairly believable. Lavitz and Dart form a rather quick "friends till death" bond, but, they did break out of the jail together..among other things, so it's fairly genuine; Dart finds Meru to be slightly childish, and almost everyone in the game, , finds Rose to be an absoloute SNOT and Lloyd to be a total pretty boy. There! More character development!
So, buy it, or rent it. Don't listen to the negative ones ALL the time, because they could be wrong. I didn't think I would ever like it when I was learning those dag nabbed additions, but I own the sound-track now, and LUV this game!!
great

basically i play many rpgs. dragoon has been my favorite game since i got my playstation 1 way back. I still play it from time to time and i bought it right when it came out. the additions make battles immensely fun. i never get tired of turning dragoon, especially against the final boss. you grow in love with all the characters. dart has been my favorite character from any game even beating cloud. some people say that this is a ff7 knockoff, but they are wrong. The story is very interesting even if at some times it is somewhat predictable. simply put this game is a gem and you must purchase it if you have never played it.
Unfulfilled Potential

"Legend of Dragoon" will break your heart. It is not a bad game. In fact it is a good game. The problem is this could have, and should have, been a great game. Looking back on "Legend of Dragoon" is like looking back on a past relationship; there are elements of melancholy, regret and yet some pleasant memories as well.
Part of the problems come from the characters. The Dart/Shana relationship reminds the gamer a bit too much of Cloud/Tifa from FF VII. There are other types of romantic relationships in this world than hooking up with an old childhood friend. The stoic knight Lavitz and the talkative highbrow King Albert are much more original. The character of Rose remains enigmatic and she remains one of the more intriguing female characters in RPGs for the old PS. Some of the characters, namely Miranda and Haschel, have as much point as a broken pencil.
The game play seems a little tedious. The graphics are fine for a PS One game. The music seems a little repetitve. The battle system is interesting, especially the dragoon combat and the fact that the heroes can actually defend themseleves.
The main problem is the plot. While the villians are generally interesting and, for once, an RPG is able to work a mythological back story into the game pretty well, the chief problem is the game seems to get bogged down over and over again in wandering around, covering ground that you have already gone over. Oh look, we are in the Barrens again and now we are in the place with the weird gravity for the fifth bloody time. This gets old quickly. But the game does intensify in the last stages though the last battle goes on forever with some rather strange interludes. The ending remains one of the most satisfying I have ever seen in an RPG as it reminds the gamer that the events that unfold in the game concern more than just the heroes but also the world they have to rebuild. The only question is do most gamers have the patience to trudge through the game for that long.
loads of fun

The game as played by my son has an entire story line to it with many characters and places, lots of imagination. He talks about it often, and put aside other games just to play this one, so it must be good. Received product quickly and in good condition.
