The Best Game Ever Challenge FFVII or tLoD

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3
Date: August 06, 2004

Simply this is one of the hardest challenges out there. Whats Better this or Final Fantasy VII. They both have unique story lines(but tLoD's story line is way more unique than anything i have ever seen). The world was once nothingness until the Craeator Soa mad a tree called the Divine Tree. The tree then bared 108 fruits. But only 107 were to come to life because the 108th fruit was the God Of The Destruction. Now tell me if you can get more orginal than that.

In the Game you are Dart. Hes the typical Rpg lookin guy. You know the Blonde Spiky Hair,Big Sword, and a girl who likes him but he doesnt show feelings for her, until later. In the beggining he is in a search for the person who killed his parents and hometown 18 years ago.For 5 years he has been searching for him it or Her. The he comes to find out his Second hometown has been destroyed and to top it off his child hood sweetheart was taken away (for what?)When you get this game and you are at the end of Disk 3 talking to a certain person, listen to what he was saying. After that scene you might just wanna piss your pants because you wont believe it.

The graphics were respectible for a Playstation Game. The FMV sequence were Jaw Dropping off the wall Beautiful. These graphics compare to some of the scenes in FF X or X-2 just not that much detailed. Now during gameplay tLoD had extremely better graphics than FFVII. I mean on FF Cloud had toothpick looking arm, while on tLoD Dart had a full body, and not shortened.i.e in battle Cloud was tall and had a full body, but in gameplay he was shortened. Dart was always full size which is a plus. The background of cities were magnificent too.I mean the water in this game looked so real and sounded like you were right there.

The other thing i loved was the battle system.Imagine FFVII's Limit Breaks, Now imagin doing that over, and, over, and over, but with less damage. The Attacks are called additions. Over time you get new additions. Different character have a different number of additions, and each person has their own unique one. There is also a Final Addition. To get it You must master all the other additions. For example: Dart has 6 additions, but then once u get to level 33 you get his 6th addition to get the final addition Blazing Dynamo (which is very complicated to do 7 hits!) you must do all the other addtions successfully 80 times. Its like that with every one just a different number,(Kongol has 3) but since they have less it takes longer to get them.

The Best part in the game is of course the Dragoons. Each person has a dragoon spirit. there element is kinda obvious. Darts armor is red so you can kinda guess what element he is. Over time you level up your dragoon to level 5 and you get magic for each level except for one. The final magic is always the dragon you got the dragoon spirit from (Dart Red Eye Dragoon Spirit,Final Magic Red Eyed Dragon) And the final magic are all really cool. A con to this is just they are long. Lavitz/Alberts Rose Storm reminds you of the Magic in FFVII with the knights. But still its worth it.

I reccomend this game to all rpgers you want to spend about 130 hours on a game but its always a twist so it is worth it spending time on it. and the game is not like 100 hours of movies and cutscenes either. i give this game a 10 out of 10

And one more note whos the Game bad ass now Sephiroth(FFVII) who Kills Clouds Girlfriend or LLoyd(tLoD) Who kills Darts best man)

Not the best RPG

Overall not a really bad game. Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana and the FF series were much much better games though. Legend of Dragoon's graphics are great but a real RPG fan doesn't go by the graphics they go by the storyline. Not a good storyline.

Sony releases its Final Fantasy killer

If you thought Final Fantasy was good, try this! This game is great!the best thing about it is it's challenging.Unlike the straight-through Final Fantasy [Which actually took me 24:47 only to beat ] this game actually has a look for it point to it.Legend of Dragoons graphics are better too,Final Fantasy's graphics are all blurry on the edges. These are only a few great things about Legend of Dragoon. You like RPG's? buy this game or even better like a smart gamer rent it and then see if you like it, you'll be glad you did.

3 years in the making a waste of time

After spending my hard earned cash I was expecting a game that would rival that of Final Fantasy. Cinemas were great but the story falls short and the voice acting is almost as good as a B movie from the 70's. The battles get repeatative after having to do the same combos over and over. So aside from some amazing CGI I wouldn't take another look at this game.

A Sweet RPG

One of the best RPGs I have ever played(right behind the Final Fantisies.)It has everything you need in a game,a great storyline, fast paced action, and great characters. The best part is the storyline it can get a little confusing but it all comes together at the end.In the End this is how it stacks up against bigger RPGs.
1.Final Fantasy 7
2.Legend of Dragoon
3.Final Fantasy 10(PS2)
4.Chrono Trigger
5.Chrono Cross
6.Final Fantay 9
7.Final Fantasy 8
8.Final Fantasy 10-2
So in my opinion one of the best RPGs ever.

yay....(cough cough cough)

I've read the numerous reviews praising this game telling how wonderful the graphics are. Granted, the graphics are pretty cool, but that is it. TRUE RPG FANS KNOW THAT THERE IS MORE TO A GAME THAN JUST GRAPHICS. First of all, the storyline was abysmal. I could write a better one... when I'm not sober. Want to know what it is? A bunch of people randomly meet and all of them (coincidentally) discover that they can control dragons. Wow. I'm impressed... my little brother could turn a story like that into his 5th grade English teacher and maybe get a C. Also, they got the whole dragoon thing wrong. A dragoon is a "dragon knight" or a lancer... not some mighty morphin doofus who shouts cheesy incantations when he attacks or casts OVERLY flashy spells. Furthermore, the battle system is flawed. A TRUE RPG would require strategy. In this game, every battle's strategy is as follows: "pound on your enemy until it dies." That takes a lot of thought to play. Sorry sony, I appreciate your effort, but I'm just not with you on this one. If you really want to play a GREAT RPG, let me recommend these: Any Final Fantasy title (Check out 9... it rules!), Chrono Chross, Lunar: The Silver Star Story, or Vagrant Story. The only reason I felt this one deserved a 2 rather than a 1 is because it passed time while I had the flu this fall. Thanks for reading, and happy hunting!

I bought this game without knowing how it will be, but just the title made me wonder ! I began to play, and I found out that it was a really good game with excellent story and graphics.

Playstation's best work.

The Legend Of Dragoon is one of the best Playstation RPG's out there. It has great in-combat options, like, turn into a Dragoon. The game is a little long, and dosen't offer a lot of save points off the main map, but that is what makes the game great. The graphics are amazing! It feels like your watching a movie! Even though there isn't a lot of combat in the game, and the bosses arn't very challenging, it still is a great game. The game offers a lot of well-preapered charcters, and a lot of strategy. It relates a little to the Final Fantasy series, but has a whole different plot. If you wanna buy a good RPG game this is it. The Legend of Dragoon offers a lot of enemies, but focuses on Dragons, and Sandora soldiers. What makes the game so special, is that it offers an option in combat to turn into a Dragoon. Dragoons are legendary cratures that can deafeat the dragons. I don't want to tell you so much, but as I said before, if you like RPG's this is the game for you!

What the HELL?!?!

I remember seeing previews for this game a couple of years ago; beautiful, sweeping lanscapes and dragons floating through the sky. I decided to buy the game about a year ago (I was poor, and waiting for the price drop). I had hoped that this could fill the void as I awaited the release of Final Fantasy X on the Playstation 2.
Well, FFX has come and went, as have countless other games, and I STILL cannot muster the energy to put the sad, sad "Legend of Dragoon" out of its misery. I don't even know where to BEGIN damning this game, so let's begin at the beginning...
Firstly, who in the WORLD conceived the lousy, pitiful soundtrack? From the opening title screen on, it seems as if the music was composed by some hair-metal band after a suicide attempt. And the plot? Can't Squaresoft sue? I mean, I have never seen a bigger ripoff of Final Fantasy VII, from the spiky haired lead character to the silver haired foe leading him by the nose across the world! Unfortunately for all, the results are far inferior to the Square offering...
Also, who in the world TRANSLATED this thing? (I assume it is translated, I HOPE it is translated, I PRAY it is translated, sigh). Every character needs about a paragraph to say what could be thoroughly explained in a sentence. Does anyone even CARE about these characters? I sure don't...
Oh, let's not forget the battle engine. Before every (RANDOM) encounter, the screen melts away like sand, followed by a sweeping camera laying out the poorly drawn field of battle, followed by a shot of the characters, and then one of the monsters. This happens before EVERY battle! I estimate a good ten hours of playtime is wasted just from this...
Oh, and the battles? Don't even get me started. I will describe but one of the (uncountably infinite) shortcomings: a character can only cast magic while in the "dragoon" state. This makes every battle unbearably long, and expect to be hit with a random encounter every 5 seconds or so...
I guess I'm left to ask, "What was the big deal?" Personally, I feel sorry for the schmoes who plunked down full price for this stinker (and apparently there were a lot of you; this game is a best-seller!). I suppose this is the reason for the ridiculously high rating this knockoff has received. Well, if there is anyone else thinking of buying this, DON'T! I hope the rant has dissuaded you! ZERO STARS!!!

COOL COOL
