The Bitter Folks Have Left

I am another long time player of SWG. Yes, it's true SOE was deleting threads on the forums, I was banned from the forums for quite a while for what, I still have no idea. I was very against the CU that is discussed below. That said, I stuck with the game, as have many others. Lots have threatened to leave the game, but most of those that threatened have stayed and found a the "new" SWG to be just as fun as ever. My guild is closer than it has ever been. People are a lot more friendly about grouping up for the tougher missions. There is still some soloing that can be fun, but for the most part forming groups is the way to go. Updates since the CU hit have made the game more fun and involving. ROTW, the wookie expansion adds Kashyyk, which is the most involved adventure planet to date.

I wanted to put a positive spin on this, since like ine the SOE forums the only people that care enough to write reviews are the ones that like to complain. The people that are happy with the game are too busy playing to spend the time it takes to write a review or add their 2 cents to the SOE message boards.

As a life long Star Wars fan who saw the originals in the theater I highly recomend this immersive experience in the Star Wars universe.

Don't believe the previous negitive reviews

The people that have slammed this game have no idea what they are talking about. Or they screwed up the install..
This game is great. Yes it has 5 discs to install. Yes it has to update from the web. My HP took 30 minutes to install. Then when you log into the web it did take 45 minutes to download updates. And that was in a hotel on a slow ethernet line.
After all the updates this game is cool. You get to start off as a new memeber in the star wars galaxy. You choose to be whatever you want. I recommend this to everyone that has wondered what it would be like to be in star wars.

An enormous game of considerable scope

I think that you will like this whether you are a hardcore Star Wars fan, or whether you are looking for a space-based MMORPG that will keep you coming back for more.

SOE has upset lots of the original fans by changing drastically the game, but overall I think that the game has improved and it represents great long-term entertainment.

I have played on and off for nearly 2.5 years and it gets better all the time!

If you are not sure about purchasing it, go to the SWG web site and try the demo :)

Good Riddance to the naysayers

Here is the simple fact: I enjoy this game, as do thousands upon thousands of others. Some people lost their "I win" button and so they come out here and trash talk Sony because they have to relearn how to play in a balanced system.

Yes there are bugs. Show me a game (or any program for that matter) with no bugs and I'll give you a cookie.

This game is well worth the $30, and the $15/month is bearable once you realize that they provide a whole other world for you to disappear into for a while. Me and my wife currently have 6 accounts total, and it's worth every cent.

Try it out before you listen to the haters. You get 30 days for free when you purchase the game, and if you're not as happy as I am after 30 days, cancel. This game is not for everybody.

But if you like it as much as my wife and I do, you will find yourself leaving this world for a galaxy far far away as often as you possibly can...

Very entertaining game...

I am always amazed to see these people who take the time to complain about online games. They buy all the expansions, play for months on end, and do nothing but complain the entire time.

I love SWG, and would tell anyone to play it. Most of the people you see griping and having a fit on the comment lines are SWG players who are no longer able to exploit the game the way they used to. Then of course you have the purists, the most annoying of SWG critics. These people are so obsessed with the films that they actually believe the game is ruined because there are too many Jedi for the time period. (between Episodes 4 & 5). Ithorians shouldn't have battle armor, Wookies can't be Imperials, Boo hoo hoo.

Buy the game, you will like it.

This is a great game, do not listen to the naysayers!

They are just pre CU players who somehow can't get a hold of themselves, and whine because now they have to play with other people (which, I thought, was the whole point of MMOs)

Too many negative reviews have been written about this game. It is an amazing game, incredibly deep, has a great community, and delivers the star wars feel in every way. The most important thing, is that you can have fun doing any number of things, from flying, to crafting, to melee and ranged professions, everything is fun. Of couse in an RPG leveling up is the general goal, and takes time, but I really enjoyed the ride from a lvl 1 noob to a lvl 80 bounty hunter and eventually, yea you can hit jedi. This was/is my first MMO and I couldnt have made a better choice. GIve the orcs and wizards a rest for awhile and pick up this game (30 bucks is a great deal)

Game is alot more fun now

CU fixed one major flaw in the game, grinding. It is once again fun to grind, because they force you to group up and unless you are 100% against hangin with other people its almost always fun. This game is "loosely" based on the Star Wars universe and has things from every time period and every movie, which makes it interesting. Unlocking a Jedi is a reward, granted with a simple somewhat boring way to get to, and alot of veteran players now have them, as should be since were going on 2 + years of playing. Join a Guild have fun screw around whatever you want, the fun of this game is based on what the players do, not what Sony does. New players will find thousands of usable and craftable items, hundreds of different missions, space combat, group combat, and large populations on many servers, contrary to what many say. Try It you'll probably like it.

As for veteran players thinking about coming back, try the CU for a week before you throw down on it, I found it wierd at first, but after a while I figured it out and now love it. Makes combat way more simple to understand, and doesn't force hundreds of hours of figuring out what different components made an "uber" scatter pistol. Also, It is more Star Warsy now as before anyone could destroy a Rancor or Kimo solo, now....NO WAY! As it should be, they have made the critters that are bigger and badder than you actually that, including NPC characters. been on every night 5-6 hrs for the last 3 weeks, and am having as much fun as ever.

Don't believe the complainers

This game is awesome. Don't listen to the reviews that are just complaints and hurt feelings. The problem is that the only ones who speak up are the ones who are mad about something. These guys are powergamers...they just want to be the best on the server and they are mad when they are not. There is no room for powergammers in this game and those people are constantly unhappy. However the vast majority of the players GREATLY enjoy this game and play it all the time. It is the best game I have ever played....a total Star Wars emersion if you will let it be. Like all games this intense there are some bugs but the devs devote a ton of energy to fix them and we get fixes downloaded constantly. I have been playing SWG since it released two years ago, and I love all the new content. The combat upgrade is amazing...the devs did a fantastic job on it. It changed the whole game and gave people something to learn again. The other reviewers got mad because they weren't "uber" anymore...the problem is they didn't take the time to become "uber" under the new system...you can still be a God but you have to use your brain. The new expansion was fantastic and adds a TON of new content. Trust me, just try it...you will be hooked!!!

A really great game for StarWars fans

Many people give this game a bad review. But that should be all right. Everyone has different tastes. To me Star Wars Galaxies The Total experience is very fun. So what if there is a bad Combat Upgrade. Just keep on playing it. Here are some many pros and cons.

Pros: Great retail price, The game includes the 2 expansions, You can meet new people, You can work for the Empire or the Rebellion, Meet characters from the Star Wars saga, And you have a choice to be diffrent Species ( My personel favorite is Wookiee) All Star Wars should like it.

Cons: Must pay 15$ every month, Stupid combat upgrade.

This is a great game. If you want an Star Wars experience that may never end, this is surely the game for you

A Great Game At A Great Price

I have been playing Star Wars Galaxies for roughly four months now and I am totally addicted. If you're into RPGs and the like, or Star Wars for that matter, then this game is definitely worth checking out. Included in the buy is a free one month subscription to the game. After that subscription ends you'll need to purchase additional subscriptions, which cost $14.95 and it is well worth the price, in my view. After playing this for two days I knew I was addicted.
The game universe is so emmense and beautifully detailed. The gameplay is fantastic and the replayability of it is off the charts. A lot of the older players have complaints that the Combat Upgrade diminished the playability of the game, however I wasn't around when the Combat Upgrade was administered, I find that the gameplay is terrific and very easy to get used to.
It is well worth the price, as it includes the first game, Star Was Galaxies: An Empire Divided and two expansion packs, Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed and Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookies.
