star wars galaxies: The total experience

I think it is a fantastic game, the graphics are good, you can meet people online and make friends and oin guilds which is great fun, the new CU has made it more balanced in my view because now in pvp its not who has the better foods or the most mind because thats all it was heals were useless because people always attacked mind which is the only pool that cannot be healed so jedi with heals that could heal mind would run riot.

I also think the new armor system is very good despite what people say cause now there is so much more choice on what armor you can wear instead of everyone running around in composite armor making the whole game seem dull now everyone is wearing all kinds of different armor which makes everyone seem more individual.

The downside to this game (and it is a big downfall) is that SOE are ignoring all the players and ruining the game for alot of people. So many people have quit galaxies because of the amounts of bugs lack of support when things are lost due to no fault of there own and very major changes that i for one actually like but alot of people do not. Also you have to have a top of the range computer to even play this game there si so much lag on this game its unbelievable you have to have over 1gig of RAM to play this game smoothly and even then its still laggy its a horribly maintained game that should be taken away from SOE and indorsed by another company that actually knows what they are doing there are so many bugs and exploits and it is in desperite need of work cause i for one am fed up with lag especially in space the star destroyer is rediculous why put 100 guns on the SD if it cant handle it players get completly lagged to death SORT IT OUT SOE...

But i still enjoy this game very much and yes there are alot of jedi running around but who cares you cant stick to the script the whole time people always moan cause they say there shouldn#t be any jedi yet but who cares its just a basic story line where we make our own story up so quit moaning jedi rules. I recommend this game to people with good computers and people who love star wars because i for one love it.

I have had this game for 3 months and i must admit that my first 2 weeks playing i got realy mad because i wasnt making any progress. The real truth is is that this is a very complex game but once you get used to it u can accomplish great things. Like right now i m a lvl 41 bounty hunter and doctor, the highest lvl u can be is 80, so i can do missions by tracking people down and i can give myself and others buffs that help in battle. If u arent into fighting u can be an artisan or entertainer. As an artisan u can become a weaponsmith, armorsmith, or shipwhright. Artisan i a great paying profession because strong weapons and armor cost a lot. And if u choose entertainer u can be an image designer at the local salon or be a musican and dancer and dance the night away by getting tips. The choices are unlimited, all u need to do is by this game and u will be immediatly immersed in this wonderful MMORPG. one little reminder: You need fast memory and a strong videocard to run this game so check your specs on ur pc before purchasing this game. Also dont just buy the regular game, get the total experience with all th expansions they make the game even better!

You will be given a BARC Speeder in-game as a reward for buying The Total Experience. Most likely, many people will contact you in-game and try to buy it. Make sure not to sell it for less than 2-3 million credits, which is currently what they are worth.

A good game to play

I enjoy playing this game. Like some games I like the variety in some of choices in the game and dislike some of the choices in it. After I started playing it, I didn't want to log-off. I would recommended it to any fan of Star Wars.

I really do like this game a lot, the only problem I have with the advertising is that it is somewhat misleading. You can't fly in the Falcon with Han Solo and Chewbacca. Yes you can become a jedi but not right away there are a bunch of prerequisites you must do first and it will take about 6 months to a year to get a jedi.

Very boring, bugged, quests where no NPC ever moves and its just plain stupid, to much lag and with the NGE combats fun but not professions, a billion jedi wander everywhere and its jsut wrong to have that many jedi. It is still a fun, soacial game with lots of places to explore and venture, but all the planets are almost idenical and all the houses are the same, its just stupid how easy it is to see that sony did a sloppy job.BUT it is still fun at a leval

First off, I'm not affiliated with SOE in any way.

Bottom Line = This game is fun and a recommended BUY. I played for 2+ months before the CU (combat upgrade = major game revamp), and now 2+ months after the CU. So, IMO I'm qualified to give a reasonable review.

The fact is this game is way more playable for new people than it was before the CU. The combat is more balanced. They got rid of the ridiculous "buffing" system (buffing = powering up your characters health stats). Before the CU, you were absolutely forced to pay about 10k credits for a 3 hr buff before being able to complete anything in game. That typically took up to 30 minutes or more just to find a Doc that would buff you. It made casual play almost impossible. Also, if you were a new character, you didn't have a bunch of extra credits for this type of activity. Then, as a new character, you would probably die rather quickly and lose the buff. That means paying 10k again, and repeat process. Now, everyone has higher health stats and there is no need for buffs.

What everyone calls "forced grouping" is not the only way you can play. I solo when I want to. I group when I want to. I even have one of the worst combat professions (Ranger). Now, if you want to gain experience and level up VERY FAST, then you group with 6-8 players. The reason people call it "forced" is because a new player starts at a Combat Level of 1. When you group with a higher combat level character (say CL 80) you essentially become CL 80 as well (well, almost). This allows you to travel in the more difficult regions of the game without being instantly killed and gain incredible amounts of XP fast. Kinda makes sense I would say.

If you are more concerned about the "journey" than the end result, then there is no need to Power Group. Just find a couple of buddies online, and play at your own pace. I recommend placing your primary character on the Valcyn server, only because there are lots of people there.

There are alot of Jedi in this game, thus the timeline is not strictly adhered to. That said, if you don't like seeing all the jedi around, I strongly encourage you to become a Bounty Hunter and terminate as many player character Jedi's as possible. It's fun. It will get your heart pumping. You'll make some great friends and enemies in game if you take up this line of work.

The great thing about this game is that you end up meeting alot of people and you create alot of content yourself (you'll see what I mean if you start hunting Jedi). This game has really become more of a "Knights of the Old Republic" feel than Galactic Civil War. A huge part of the game is either becoming a Jedi or hunting Jedi. This dynamic drives crafting, it drives weapons, armor, guild wars, etc etc.

So buy the game. Give it 60 or 90 days (first 30 are free anyways). In 90 days, you will meet tons of people, probably join several different guilds before you find one you really like, if you choose a combat profession you'll basically become very high level in the first month, and you'll probably unlock your characters Force Sensitive Slot. Then it's your choice whether to pursue the Jedi as a profession, or just keep playing your character as-is.

I have played many MMOG's including Anarchy Online since beta and Ultima Online since beta. Yes I agree with some that this has some kinks (IE Bugs) but overall I like how it plays. With that said however I have never played it before the Combat Update so I have no prior experience with that and I have been playing on a friends account for a couple of months and although it can be slow going at times I still find it interesting. There are parts I wish would be changed like the point cap of 250 to something slightly higher so people like me who like being a crafter can still focus on one element and still do some other things as well. Over all I think this is a good game and a work in progress. Since I have done beta tests for years I have no problem playing a current game that might have patches released that are beta releases to see if they fixxed the problems that occure, afterall the programmers can't fix what they don't know is broken. I have run several muds and emulators in my time to know that without player input as to what is found wrong it will never get fixxed, all be it that some things that players find are actually "features" not bugs and are a certain way intentionally. To all the boo-hooers and naysayers you can complain all you want but don't knock a game because programmers are doing their job. Yes fixxing some bugs do inadvertently cause other ones, especially with large games like SWG and any online game for that matter. I enjoy this game enough that I am purchasing it now even when a new update is comming out within the next couple of months, which I am also looking forward to.

All in All I recommend this to anyone who has a love for starwars and for those who love space combat sims since this includes that aspect as well and you can mod/upgrade your ship, and buy/build new ones (from existing templates), for those like me who like to craft there are tones of options and for those who like to do quests, they can be found all over the place just talk to the npcs. If you like the community you can get involved in that too since there is almost always people online from what I've seen and many looking to do group missions. If your just starting watch out for the REDS (if you start playing you will see what I mean). This is one of the higher monthly fees but the more months you pay for at a time the cheaper it gets and there is an option to buy gametime cards at $30 a pop for 60 days of gametime. So come join the starwars galaxy and be part of the community.
