Well first off to SOE-congrads boys you finally shot yourself in the foot over this game. The Combat upgrade was bad enough but to change this into a First Person Shooter, and you have the nerve to claim that customers want this-so where is your data. Naturally you idoits will not show the data. So what is the use of putting up polls on the forums only to be ingored. The players who are leaving new you screwed and you know you screwed up. To us I gaint Favor for x-mas either 1 turn off the servers or 2 simply go out of business. I am sure that will make a lot of people nice and happy.

Speaking of the forums I have noticed that as an ex-player that my station name nor password work anymore. Why, hmmm tired of the negative feedback-Er whose fault is that, not the players since you never never listen to us. Just had to give it the personal touch. Patch-nerf dumb down, and repeat. So whats instore for the game over the next 6 monoths. You are now going to have be concerned that D&D online coming out in March of 2006, Warcraft's first expansion July '06 or the yet to be released Star Trek Online for 2007.

Yes I seen changes done doing my time with WOW, but nothing has crazy, far fretched as the changes that was done to Galaxies. Nobody in there right mind would even make 2 major changes in under 1 year. So what form of crack you smoking.

To anybody who is even a fan of Star Wars. I dont have to go into the problems again. Save your money and trying something else. The only SOE is good for is making a game and later wrecking.

From what I gathered they fired there old rep to the players Tiggs, there seems to be a new person there now, and she is now more a companyman-pitching the soe way.

As for SOE-if you have common sense you better fix this farce soon, or dont even bother releasing any online games in the future-a lot of people are going simply remember this and avoid your future products like the plague-after this you couldnt pay me enough to play this trash, even say nice things about it-that would simply be a lie.

To anybody still active in this game-good luck, god speed. You may see a star wars online role player game some day. Sadly not by this company SOE they only know how to destory-and thats what they do best destory, destory, destory...

Hopeful, but Unsure

I tried SWG out the day it came out, but due to the name I picked for my character, I had a customer service problem. Basically they they arbitrarily changed my name and I lost access to all of buildings, things I had for sale on the market etc. I was so irate with the customer service and their total disregard for the problems that the name changed caused that I quit after exactly the first 30 days. The offensive name? Reichfuhrer.

Anyway, My friend has gotten back into it and suggested that I do the same. So I bought this expansion and started totally from scratch. The new name? Riik Furer, hehehe.

The combat has definately changed. First few levels are pretty easy, but but by level 10 or so, you will have difficulty killing creatures of level 6 or 7, meaning you will die quite a bit if you try. This really slows your progress down. You attack something equal to your level and you are dead, period. This just plain sucks. I'm hopeful that the CU as they call it will be tuned to fix this, but I'll bail out at the end of 30 days if there is no progress.

The space combat is a little herky-jerky, but not too bad. I think the fights should go a little faster and the some of the mission engagements are way too hard. The Imperial mission to intercept and kill the Lok Captains is an example of a mission that is virtually impossible to complete without help.

There is enjoyable aspects to this game, but there are many problems that go along with it and many obviously disgruntled players leaving the game.

Don't believe the previous negitive reviews

The people that have slammed this game have no idea what they are talking about. Or they screwed up the install..
This game is great. Yes it has 5 discs to install. Yes it has to update from the web. My HP took 30 minutes to install. Then when you log into the web it did take 45 minutes to download updates. And that was in a hotel on a slow ethernet line.
After all the updates this game is cool. You get to start off as a new memeber in the star wars galaxy. You choose to be whatever you want. I recommend this to everyone that has wondered what it would be like to be in star wars.

So much potential, so quickly wasted

Star Wars Galaxies had so much great potential. The idea was that you would be able to play any profession and get ahead, but the game was rushed out and poorly supported post-release. The developers quickly scrapped all the most innovative parts of the game and turned it into just another PvP Everquest clone. There is now little point in playing the game for anything other than PvP, and the PvP was never that good anyway. Worst of all, the developers chose to throw out all the Star Wars lore and atmosphere and instead they gave in to every desire of the leet players, to the detriment of every other play style. I used to play a musician in the game, as I was intrigued by the idea that a non-combat role could work in a MMORPG, but I soon found that non-combat players simply could not advance in the game - there just wasn't any content there for us, and the developers never showed any interest in developing it for us.

Star Wars was supposed to revolutionize online play and present the player with a deep gameplay experience in a fully fleshed-out world, but that all fell by the wayside, and what was left was a third rate RPG with no depth, no atmosphere and no point.

A total Crapfest !

haha

this one of the sillyest games ever atm...i have played this game fopr 624 days..and knew most of the high rollers and veterans on the Infinity server and even soem on The American Bria server.

After the the several socalled Upgrades..the game was dumbed down so children of the age 7-12 would not gind it as hard to play.

The game many older veteran players..but they sort of left when SOE ( sony online entertainment ) lied to ALL off their players.

We was all waiting for a Upgrade to our different professions, but suddelny out of the blue it was all changed and all the HARD professions was taken out of the game...and Jedi was made a start profession instead of a profession you would be rewarded with after time, they did this just because so many young players wanted to be a jedi after the new movies Ep. 1-3 was released !

they also made jedi rather crap, it cant even be compared to what it was.

So they said one thing but did another without telling their players...how great is that.

The NGE ( new game enhancements ) was not very enhanced at all..they made the game ready to be released to Xbox, made the combat style more crap (and easier for children ) and they lied and keep on lieing.

players bought the new expansion Rage of the wookies thinking it would be fun to play just to find that theit professions was deleted from the game AFTER they bought the expansion..hows that for custumer relations!?!?

SOE should be ashamed, they have NO ! respect for their own player base ! :(

I had a guild with 120 ppl all hardcore players, i had a town with 200 ppl and my friendslist had Soooo many people in it...before i left a few days ago..there was 5 ppl i knew online.

and when i stand around wondering what to do..i keep on getting /tells from young players asking for money ( credits ) as they dont bother to Quest for cash and when you say no..you get alot of Bad language in return.

And ofcourse the lack of content in the game is amazing...you NEED the expansions to get xp after level 30 now...:(

and when they say they added 10 level more to they game ( to level 90 ) thats just silly, cause the first 10 levels are just crap levels should be -10 to 80 instead..

i would Suggest: World Of Warcraft, Guild wars Dungeons and dragons or wait for Middle earth online !

leave this game alone !

ripoff

Used to be the most amazing game I had ever played. How the developers destroyed the game was heartbreaking. I'm now having fun with WoW, but just can't shake my nostalgia for the early days of SWG.

What were they thinking?

They took a very fun game with tons of depth and turned it into junk. Not even worth playing now.
