I have only been playing the game for a short time, but I have quickly discovered the wasted potential of this game. The game is riddled with performance problems and server lag and especially extremely poor customer service for a subscription based game. Do yourself a favor, forget about this one and buy Battlefront II, you will be happier and save more money in the long run.

The game advertised in this ad is no longer the game you receive when installed. as of Nov 15, 2005, the game has been completely changed. The immerive game that is advertised here with 30+ Professions that you could switch around at will has been changed to you being able to pick one of 9 premade character classes, in which if you dont like how it is, you have to delete your character and start an entirely new one.
On a scale of 1-10 10 being best, 1 being the worst, I would actually give this game a -100, this coming from somone who played for 2+ years... It originally was a game I enjoyed quite well, until 11/15/2005.
Between the bait and switch tactics of SOE/LA in the Trials Of Obi-Wan expansion (Release/advertise expansion to 'improve ' your professions [IE: New creatures to tame, Master Creature handlers necklace] available only as a digital download, then the very DAY after payments are processed announce the game is being changed, and said professions were being removed from the game entirely?)
The removal of original game entirely... Yes, the game did have issues, but dumbing the game down entirely after being out 2+ years with 2 weeks notice of said changes that are being implemented hopes of drawing in the consol crowd when it is ported to PS3 because "the pre NGE style was too difficult for gamers to understand.." so they tell us...
The game went form an immersive online role playing game, to a VERY bad attempt at a online star wars first person shooter, as well as making it next to impossible for disabled players who were able to play quite well in the old system to remain playing...
SWG is simply the best

First off, everyone complaining about SWG thinks they can do the job better than the game designers. They are same pathetic fools who sit at home and critique how "wrong" athletes are for their performance in this game or that game even though they have never played the sport.
SOE is a company and one of it's products is SWG. True they have a responsibility to the players, buut they also have a responsability to attract new players as well.
Yes there are bugs and crashes, but that happens in every game at some point. It has always and will always happen---deal with it.
The CU is awesome don't let anyone kid you. I am a player from day one as well and what these people are complaining about is you can now no longer set up a stack of attacks and walk away from your PC. You actually have to play---imagine that, not grinding easily, but playing the game. What a concept.
There is so much content if you want it, it is larger than any other game out there and will definately throw you into the feeling of Star Wars.
Even without all that, the people you will meet are great. The friendliest I have ever met.
Ignore the whiners, they are just mad about no longer being able to make milllions of credits every day for doing nothing. That is why they are spamming this and all SWG related websites.
If you don't belive me, try it for one month for free and you will see
Way too many bugs.

I used to enjoy this game until the recent changes made it almost unplayable.
Save your monthly subscription fees for an MMO that works like World of Warcraft or City of Heroes/Villains.
Give it a chance.

Ok, so I played the game before the "dreaded" CU. After the upgrade I was furious and all but canceled my account. After 2 weeks I gave it one last try and stuck with it. It's better now than it ever was before the CU. Plus, non combat professions are popping up every where. I see them all the time and am tempted to convert to non combat. This game is at it's best and from what I've read, it's going to get better.

This game is not like an mmorpg at all. It is like a fps that has no system of aiming or any kind of skill involve. you just click and hope it will hit the enemy good.
This is a great game, do not listen to the naysayers!

They are just pre CU players who somehow can't get a hold of themselves, and whine because now they have to play with other people (which, I thought, was the whole point of MMOs)
Too many negative reviews have been written about this game. It is an amazing game, incredibly deep, has a great community, and delivers the star wars feel in every way. The most important thing, is that you can have fun doing any number of things, from flying, to crafting, to melee and ranged professions, everything is fun. Of couse in an RPG leveling up is the general goal, and takes time, but I really enjoyed the ride from a lvl 1 noob to a lvl 80 bounty hunter and eventually, yea you can hit jedi. This was/is my first MMO and I couldnt have made a better choice. GIve the orcs and wizards a rest for awhile and pick up this game (30 bucks is a great deal)
Been playing since day 1

I have been playing this game since day 1 and have purchased Jump to light speed and Rage of the Wookies. Be advised that there are many people who like/love this game and are very happy with the new combat upgrade. It was a big change that took some time getting used to, but now that I have been playing on it for a while, I have to say that I like it much better than the old system. I am also a fan of the new combat icons. The game promotes hunting in large groups, but one is still able to do solo missions if they choose. Most of the bugs that I noticed have been worked out by now. If you are considering this game I would suggest checking out the forums on gamespot to get more player opinions.
SOE ruined this game

Beware of the disclaimer "Game Experience May Change Online". The developers took a fun game, and amputated all the best features out of it, and forced the veterans into owning garbage programming, by drastically changing the game into something unplayable. This is not a RPG anymore. This is not a diverse online comunity style game anymore. It's a sad, bug ridden, attempt at being a "console" game. It fails even in that respect. NOT RECCOMENDED.
