10+ hours & I can't stop

I highly recommend this title, 4 stars cause well, there aren't many games that deserve 5 yet.. HALO maybe.

Hearing some of the other reviews on this site, I hesitated to purchase Obi-Wan, as I bought some other underwhelming Xbox games (Air Force Delta Storm, Fusion Friendly), and I didn't want to waste another $50 just cause I'm curious. Obi-Wan is FUN - I played it for 10 hours straight when I brought it home, which was tonight.

Graphics: really good, not amazing, but very tight.

Gameplay: Awesome. Swinging the lightsaber, force pulls (weapons), spins and flips - jeeze, it just feels cool to be obi-wan. The moves are somewhat simple, but perfecting the use of them takes hours of work, and I still feel as if I'm young Obi-Wan, in training.

Sound: Music is great, sound makes you think you're a jedi.

Cons: They didn't use the controller vibration all that much, and the levels take a while to load. The game hangs here and there, for no apparent reason, like when you turn off your lightsaber.

Should you buy it? If you liked Halo, or Star Wars, or adventure/action games you'll probably like this game. Buy Halo first though :)

More when I finish the game - happy holidays!

If you are getting a Xbox, GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!

This game is not just another Episode One rip off!!! The story starts before the events of Ep 1, with the first mission taking place on coruscant. Obi-wan is first sent on a quest to stop a band of ruffians called the Black Heth. Heth is composed of every rowdy you've ever run into in the Star Wars universe. To be more specific, Grans, rodians, Transdoshans, and other aliens. Black Heth members will be armed with a wide array of weapons, including knives, pipes, vibroblades, and blasters. The Black Heth doesn't remain the central threat for long. Soon, Obi-Wan learns that the gang is linked to the Jin'ha, a group of nefarious weapons dealers inhabiting a mysterious swamp planet. The Jin'ha which can be discribed as "Star Wars ninjas", are formidable hand-to-hand combatants. Thay are also armed with weapons made of cortosis, a rare ore introduced in Expanded Universe sourses. Cortosis is able to resist lightsabers, allowing the Jin'ha to engage Obi-Wan in melee combat. After Obi-Wan deals with the Jin'ha, the game segues into the Episode 1-related portion of the story, including trips to Tatooine and Naboo. The Tatooine segment reveals what Obi-Wan was REALLY doing while Qui-Gon searched Mos Espa for a replacement hyperdrive. The game culminaters in missions in Theed, where Obi-Wan faces a horde of battle droids armed with blasters and other weapons. And, of course, the game concludes with the showdown between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul, as seen in 'The Phantom Menace'. Aside from the standard slashing and sweeping, Obi-Wan can use the Force to enhance his attacks. These "Force swings" can disarm opponents, cut through blocks, or cause extra damage. As in the film, the lightsaber can also deflect imcoming blaster fire. While the lightsaber is Obi-Wan's primary weapon, he also has a small array of other weapons. A sniper rifle might be necessary to complete specific mission goals, and Obi-Wan also carries a sampling of powerful grenades. And, of course, the hero Padawan must sometimes use the Force.

If you liked Dark Forces you will LOVE this game! This game is one of the main reasons I am getting a Xbox.

I hope this reveiw helps you to decide to buy this game, or just a star wars game in general. Oh, and the grafics are AMASING!

okay game, but let down for the x-box.

i've playtested this game and find it rather mediocre, especially for an x-box release. As stated, in a previous review, it's just like Phantom Menace for the PC which a couple new environs. Rather tedious doing the same thing over and over.... destroy enemy (only about 4 different types and i'm halfway through the game), do some platform jumping and maneuvering, go to new area... repeat ad infinitum. Nothing new or exciting here. Just make sure you don't get killed more than 4-5 times or you'll have to start the level all over again and the levels are very large. Really annoying not to have some kind of quicksave or some continuous checkpoint feature. Some places it's wayyyy too easy to get killed if you don't do a few certain steps.. ie. jump somewhere that's difficult to see... accidentally fall off platform or something stupid. Overall, I did find the game enjoyable, but it's just like every other generic overhead platform/fighting game and it's not too different than the earlier Phantom Menace game. Don't buy into the hype. Dark Forces was revolutionary, this is just game junk food.

Its every ones dream to be a jedi NOW U CAN

Obi-wan is a bright mix of awesome force powers, Great saber combos, and exeptoinal music. I would also like to mention ONE OF THE BEST MULTIPLAYER Modes ever. It was a brilliant Idea to control a lightsaber with the right anolog stick
Want force powers? Obi-Wan has 'em. Force jump, Push, Saber throw, and finnaly saber pull. Obi wan has incredeable agility and it adds to the great battles. The music makes U think u are a jedi. Sadly this game has kinda blocky graphics it is not that bad. This game has a pretty good background. LIKE JEDI POWERS BATTLES THEN THIS IS A MUST A BETTER VERSION IF NOT U WOULD LIKE IT TOO

PROS

Great force powers
Good fighting
Slo- mo lightsaber seens
Good level play
Enganging scenes
killer multiplayer mode

CONS

Slightly bad graphics
A bar can block a lightsaber (whats up with that)
It somtimes slows dowm.

OVER ALL

For all wise Jedi knights if U like what I stated above BUY IT but if Ur not sure RENT IT both work this game is good for everybody that can play a game of a T rating.

Good luck,
Mace windu

I shouldn't enjoy this game, but I do

Obi-Wan comes across as an old stuffed animal that you like, but don't know why. It's dirty, it's smelly, one of its eyes is missing, but you love it all the same.

True, Obi-Wan is fraught with frame-drop errors, poor lighting, bad modeling, non-existant AI, terrible mapping, short gameplay, cringe-inducing voices, and a dumb storyline.

But...

First of all, it's Star Wars. That's worth something. Secondly, the multiplayer is actually pretty fun. Unlike it's sister game "Jedi Outcast," the emphasis is on the lightsaber, and the control scheme they've thought out is pretty inventive. I've been playing this game with friends for months. Even the obvious mistakes it makes (sometimes characters just keel over and die) have become entertaining to watch for.

Basically, if you've always wanted to [mess] around with a lightsaber, buy/rent this game. But, if you don't like Star Wars all that much, or are bothered by...well...shoddy programming, don't.

Does this game deserve 4 stars? No. But that's how much I personally enjoyed it.

sick of people dissing

I'm sick of seeing people diss this game because they saw one screenshot, or they think that every Ep. 1 game sucked, so this one must suck too. Throw all of your pre-conceived notions out the window. This game looks so fluid, with some truly amazing effects. With a thick storyline, in-depth missions, force powers, absolute controls, and a multiplayer battle mode this game should be one of the absolute best of the xbox releases within the first couple of months. I've heard complaints about the game being slow at E3. Well guess what? That was a long time ago, the game was probably no more than an alpha version, and the latest reviews say it's super smooth now with superb controls. If you enjoy a hack and slash game with a meaningful storyline and beautiful graphics then this is the game for you. If you have doubts check out the trailer on lucasarts.com, that movie convinced me.

Light saber battles shine ... but too short

Star Wars: Obi Wan is a first person set pre-Episode One, and its light saber combat truly shines. The misions, though, are a bit short.

I am a HUGE fan of the Star Wars series, and immediately buy each Star Wars game to see if they bring me into that universe. While I've been disappointed with many recent ones, I was really pleased by Obi Wan.

The light saber duels are really the shining part of the game. The fluidity and grace with which he moves really embodies the Jedi Knight's years of training. Add in a few force moves, and you really do feel like you can take on seemingly overwhelming enemies and come out victorious. Playing in multiplayer against a talented friend can challenge you for months.

The game was pushed out for the release of the XBox, so there are some down sides. The graphics don't really shine, because the system was still being explored for its capabilities. The levels are very short. And there are a few bugs in the game that are mildly annoying.

Still, the game is great fun as a stylish combat system, and any sequels using the base graphic engine will be a joy to play!

Star Wars:Obi-Wan-A Reveiw by NewAtomMan

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 5 / 6

Now,I've seen loads of bad reveiws for this game.Star Wars:Obi-Wan is a great game that needs to be given a chance.

The earlyer levels in the game takes place a few weeks before the events of Star Wars:Episode 1.Those missions take place on the cloudy planet of Bespin,to the seedy underworld of Corusaunt.

I think this is an absolutely great game, except for the graphics and voice acting.
True, the graphics are TRUELY horrible. If you stand close to a wall, you can see all of the pixels...As this is an Xbox game, the graphics could have been a million times better.

Also, the voice acting is cheesy.Obi-Wan sounds nothing like Ewan McGregor...

PROS:
1.Non-stop action.Every single second is full of chopping droids in half, ect.
2.Lots of mission, ranging from a fight to the death Jedi arena,to rescuing Queen Amidala from the Tusken raiders.
3.You use a lightsaber,so you can chop up stuff and deflect laser shots.
4.Lots of combos. You can throw your lightsaber like a boomerang,or you can do backflips, ect.

CONS:
1.HIDEOUS GRAPHICS!
2.Cheesy voice acting
3.Enemie AI is stupid

As you progress through the game, the levels get tougher and tougher, ending with the battle with Darth Maul.

Also,a note to parents:Since this game involves lightsabers, you must think it involves chopping peoples heads, arms, and legs off.Well, you can't do that!Whenever you defeat an alien, they just go,"Ahh!" and fall backwards, and dissapear.

Since this game is now a Xbox Platinum Hit,it costs less than twenty dollars!

Overall,Star Wars:Obi-Wan is an awesome game that every Xbox owner should have.

Fun!

Man, this game gets a lot of bad reviews that aren't deserved. The only bad thing is that the graphics aren't up to X-Box quality, but that's not a big deal. This game is awesome and I always have fun when I play it.

Don't bother the force is weak with this one...

This is not the game that it was originaly hyped to be. It has a slow frame rate and very poor graphics. Simply a hack and slash game (can you say phantom menace? If you've played that you've already played Obi-wan). It would be best to pass on this one and get Jedi Knight 2 (the sequal to Dark Forces) when it comes out in the spring.
