Force is with this game!

This game looks so sweet. I reserved it because it factors in all of the things that happens in the movie and more. This is definetely one of the XBox's best games out now!

What kind of cruddy game is this?!?

This game is quite possibly the most horrific game to hit the X-Box yet! I've seen some crappy graphics, but this takes the cake! The many horrors of this game are terrifying, and that's just the begining! First of all, the graphics are so bad, the characters' lips don't even move and This game's structure is so bad you'll die for no reason, and this game has a tendency to glitch like crazy during two-player mode. This game is a compleate mess. Lucas Arts must have put it together in one weekend. They just slapped a title on a piece of pitiful junk! They just needed some game out just to have it out. This is a sorry excuse for a game and a waste of money, money that could have been spend on something more useful, like toilet paper. I recommend KOTOR or just plain anything else expect this.

Fun game, marred by disappointingly easy last battle

I am going to reveal the ending, so do not read ahead if you still want to play this game.
Many others have already posted their opinions here, so I will not go through the whole game in detail.
But as many others have said, the voice-acting for the Obi-Wan character is ridiculously, unintentionally humorous -- the actor sounds like a guy with a head cold trying to imitate Ewan McGregor doing Obi-Wan, exaggerating the distinctive traits McGregor's Scottish accent -- so even lilts in his voice are thrown into hyperdrive. (as exaggerated as the honker the graphics dept. gave to Qui-Gon Jinn -- yes, the bridge on Liam Neeson's nose may be somewhat big, but since when did he have Karl Malden's nose?)
The game is unfortunately lacking in the graphics department -- sometimes you can't see features on faces.
But onto the ending. The game is fun, with a handful of challenging levels -- mostly due to the swarms of droids that come your way and droids taking stance behind high-powered laser cannons.
But it's marred by a disappointingly quick and all-too-easy ending. The moment arrives -- you finally meet Darth Maul. Just like in the movie, you stand behind the laser wall and watch as Qui-Gon is struck down by Maul.
And finally the wall opens, you hold your breath, ready for a tough battle -- one that you may have to play repeatedly until you put together the right string of moves and blocks to take him out before your health runs out. But it's not to be.
Darth Maul is ridiculously easy to defeat. I beat him on my first try and in less than a minute. And you have to fight him twice -- as once you take him down the first time, he gets a new, full meter of health. So in less than a minute, I drew down two full health meters. I felt cheated, to say the least.
I remember fighting against Mace Windu to have to reach the next level, and I had to go toe to toe against him some 20 to 30 times before I finally beat him. I was expecting at least a battle on that level of difficulty, but it ended up being the easiest level of the whole game. All I had to do was slash at him and use some force saber twirls and Maul was done.
How in the world could the game's makers create such a lackluster, lifeless, no-threat ending battle? I was left extremely wanting, and if it were a movie, I would have angrily asked for my money back. I cannot say enough how disappointing the ending was. Even more now, the Darth Maul character cries out for a game of his own. One can only wish -- for this Maul must have been a clone or imposter to go down with nary a fight.

A Good Game That Lacked Graphics

When LucasArts began releasing the classic Star Wars games, everyone was amazed. Great graphics, gameplay, story, and games that REALLY got you into the game. Well, unfortuantly, every game in the world can't be a classic, as is the case here, but when I bought it, poped it in to my XBOX, and began playing...I couldn't stop! It was fun, it was creative, and while it may not be the greatest game in the world, it was a game worthy of buying in my book. Here's what I thought of Star Wars: Obi-Wan for the Microsoft XBOX:

1) Gameplay: This game takes you through the life of Obi-Wan. You start out on a planet of gang members, trying to stop them from killing your friends and co-workers. You learn all of the sweet moves: Air jump, force grab (takes guns out of enemies hands), force push (knocks enemies on the floor or off cliffs), and force weapon (uses objects in the area like rocks, or crates, and rams them into enemies). You'll also discover Obi-Wan can do back and front flips, and has one of the coolest toys in the world...a *LIGHT SABER*! You walk around in a 3rd person view controlling Obi-Wan with the left thumb stick, and control the Light Saber (when you pull it out) with the right thumb stick. And the control here is FLAWLESS! Pushing to the right causes you to attack enemies in that direction, pushing up will bring his lightsaber to come crashing down on enemies. Of course if your fighting someone else with a lightsaber, you have to block his attacks, use the force (literally), and get the hits in before your get killed yourself. It's all very challenging and fun once u get farthur into the game...the coolest part being when u learn to THROW your lightsaber like a boomerang across the room, knock out a few guards, that have it fly back for more force flying, back-flipping, light clashing battle.

Now, with these skills, you must somehow beat 15+ missions and help Obi-Wan save the world...again. Very fun in the long run!

And, once u beat the game, you can unlock new characters, arenas, and such for multiplayer. I'll go into that later!

2) Graphics: This is where the game failed. There is no excuse for a game to lack graphics on the Microsoft XBOX. They're better than most N64 games, maybe even most PlayStation games, but any system other than that could have supported this with no trouble at all! To begin with, the faces of the people are...there. They're choppy, small dots for eyes, beards are brown blocks, etc... It's ugly!

The worst part here, though, is all the freezing this game has. It has major glitches. If your in the middle of a big battle, things will start to slow down, the music and sounds will start to get choppy. When a lot is going on, the framerate drops, and everything looks like a game that...in a word...stinks! The graphics, for the most part, are pretty good. But nothing has any detail. There are no faces, no animals in the grass, no real living water. And the framrate gets so choppy at times, you can't even play...really annoying. Counsidering the power of the XBOX, all the glithces and lack of detail are in-excusable. This game might have even worked on the N64, and in today's world, ladies and gentlemen, thats sad (especially on the XBOX).

3) Multiplayer: Extremely fun. As you progress through the game, you unlock characters and arenas to fight in. While it's only for 2 players, it is pretty fun. You can knock your openants down, fling objects into them, have light-saber battles, hop all over the place, fling your lightsaber like a boomerang, etc.. It's all fun and good, but 4 players would have been, in one word, AWSOME. And the fact that they didn't include 4 players is just another blown effort. This, with a little work, could have been a 5-star game. But it seems like the makers got lazy toward the end, and just didn't add what could have been added.

Overall, this is a great game, especially since you can soon find it on the "*Platinum Hits*" lineup (a group of games that, starting soon, you will be able to pick up for less then twenty bucks!). It's a really fun game, and even the multiplayer is pretty cool. More options here would have been better.

Hopefully they'll make an Obi-Wan 2, and put the work into a good game, that could have made this a *CLASSIC* game. A good game none the less, reccomended to all action gamers, and of course, *MAJOR* Star Wars fans. This won't disapoint, as long as your not expecting greatness.

Thx!

I give this game **** stars for fun because the 2 player mode has limited exploring space. Still this game takes video games to the x-treme.
P.S. This game is cool to people who own 64s like me.

Didnt expect........

Ive read reviews saying the worst things about this game, and saying it was horrible. There were also great reviews on this game too.The graphics are bad, and so are the voices, but aside from that this is probably one of the best star wars games out there.Awsome action such cool lightsaber battles and interesting levels the funnest and best way to tune tour battle skills are to play the battle royal.(every jedi in the game verses everyone)its exciting when you win and you want to play it over and over again. The last fun thind to do is the darth maul fight.Overall, I took my chance with bad AND good reviews.Take the chance You wont regret it.Sawhen its all over though........

Fun and stupid all in one

The lightsaber action is way fun...I enjoy blocking laser blasts and whatnot. The force action is really fun too. Water effects are pretty good. But that's where all the good stuff ends. The voice acting (in addition to the people when they talk don't move their mouth in the cutscenes) is sub-par to say the least. Qui Gon's voice is decent...that's it. Obi Wan's voice sounds like a drunk Scottie from Star Trek. The camera angles, particularly when you need to see up and down...stink...there should have been more control over this aspect...especially when jumping and falling on platforms plays such a big part in the game...bad LucasArts! I'm almost done with the game...the only draw I have is to have to finish the game out of sheer agony I press on! Some levels are better than other. My biggest gripe though is that the biggest challenges in the game come from really stupid stuff like dying because you can't look down. If I'm going to die it should be in battle! Overall a mediocre game to play...but great fun feeling like a jedi. Thus the three stars.

Not a Bad Try but it Still Failed

Though this game may be called "Star Wars: Obi-Wan" it's really an interactive experience of Episode I with little bits and pieces taken out and put in (which would stop many people from buying it already). But there is more to it then just that.

In the game you, of course, play as Obi-Wan Kenobi fighting to save the galaxy and kill the evil Sith Darth Maul. Also, you get to experience more weapons then just your standard lightsaber. There are sniper rifles, Ion Grenades, Fire Grenades, and Fragmentation Grenades. The only problem is that when it comes down to it all of these other weapons are useless.

The lightsaber, however, is very useful. You can reflect lasers with it, throw it, and even unleash a totally destructive force attack with it. Regular combat with it is also a blast since the right thumbstick controls its movement instead of commonly seen "A= stab, B= overhead attack, etc."

The game play itself is very primative. Every part of the game only has one solution and it's always the same one- just go in there and fight. The other problems are found within the characters in the game. The AI is terrible, characters won't stop repeating themselves, and besides Darth Maul having twice as much health as you he's just a push over.

All in all I would reccomend this game to a person that was looking for a mildly entertaining video game without very much immersion or excitement.

All Force .... no Power

Using the force is great ..... but the game is almost the same as Epsiode 1 on the playstation I used to have. There is very little different despite the power of the Xbox. Very disappointing, with the only real challenges being (a) remembering Obi Wan is not Scottish in the movie and (b) Darth Maul at the end.

Unless you are a big fan, forget this one.

Pretty nice, but could be better!

You will def. have fun with this one. Light-sabre battle is just awesome, and using the force to your advantage certainly is fun.
However, there are disappointing aspects to this game. Going through an entire level, just to be killed a second or two into the final battle which mainly depends on luck is no fun. Having to sit through several minuted of silly story ever time you attempt to make it through the first two seconds of the final fight of that same level plain ... And the fact that all the dialogs in the game are pretty stupid and badly done doesn't help.
However, the game certainly was good enough to make me play through the whole thing. It's just that I would expect a bit more from LucasArts.
