A Fun Game, But Not For Everyone

This game is a mixed bag, through and through. There are elements to adore, and elements to despise. There are some rewarding sequences, but to get to them you have to suffer a little. Oddly enough, this game is a lot like another game based on Episode 1, Jedi Power Battles. If you liked Jedi Power Battles (Dreamcast version!) there's a good chance you'll like this game. In the very least, it's a decent rental. For the folks that hated Jedi Power Battles, there's not much chance you'll like this one. Take the money you would've used to rent or buy this title and find Jedi Knights in a bargain bin somewhere for your PC, you won't regret it.
Overall, the game *sounds* rather appealing. I mean, anything that's based on killing stuff with a lightsaber and some force powers can't be bad. It's just too cool a concept to *totally* suck. I've had a ton of fun playing this title and don't regret my purchase, but it isn't for everyone.
Bottom line: if you enjoyed Jedi Power Battles, give this game a shot.
Not bad if you are a Star Wars Fan

This was one of my first X-Box games and I was not too impressed with it. I am a major SW fan and enjoyed the story line and the awesome sound. The graphocs are a little poor for the X-box. The replayabilty is zero. consider renting for 5 days.
The best Star Wars game yet-but doesn't reach it's potential

This is without a doubt the best Star Wars game ever made. The controls are good, you've got a wide range of sweet Jedi powers at your disposal including "Force Push" "Force Weapon Pull" and "Throw Objects". The Light Saber controls are amazing, it's as close as you can get to wielding the sword yourself. I have a great deal of fun with this game.
However, I have to be critical to the good people at Lucas Arts... they seem to have only been content with the Best YET--not the best POSSIBLE. The motions are still slow, you can't fight and use a Force power simultamiously and every once in a while the motion will jump--the game boards are needlessly difficult to navigate through sometimes--while the control of the lightsaber is good it doesn't have the control of some other games--not to mention they did not take full advantage of the Xbox's speed and graphics. There is a great deal of room for improvement. rent this game, It is fun for five days and while you're playing it you'll say "This is a good game but I'm glad I didn't spend [money]on it" wait for the new Star Wars EPII RPG coming out in a few months, that looks like it has a lot of promise.

First things first, it's very clear Lucasarts could have spent a bit more time on this, and made it twice the game it is. But, none the less, the critics have been cruel, and unjust. This game isn't a total loss. It's fun factor I think is pretty high up, as is the multiplayer. The loss is it's a short game, and some levels are nearly impossible to beat with the inconsistent camera angles. I'd say this game is very good for a rent, pretty sketchy for a buy, and is OK for used. I just need to say one more thing. George Lucas has been incredibly irresponsible with his Star Wars License. The whole Star Wars Universe, which once we found sacred, is now tapped, and leaky. Information doesn't agree with other information. Now Star Wars is becoming a bumbling mess, and I suggest George Lucas, or Lucasarts does something about it quickly.
This looks like the best Star Wars title for a console!

This game looks awesome. The graphics that I have seen lately on this game are much better than what i saw earlier this year. The gameplay looks very fun. Who wouldn't want to play as Obi-Wan and chop up bad guys.

I played a demo of this a few weeks ago and found the game to be rather lame. The animation had to be the worst part. I thought it would at least be a beefed up fighting/quest game taking advantage of the xbox's power but came away from it utterly disappointed. Obi-Wan's movements are rather choppy, almost robotic and not fluid in the least bit. Like what was said earlier, not just the plot but the actual gameplay and movements are almost identical to TPM for the psx and pc, with better graphics and shading. From everyone I've talked to, Obi-Wan is shaping up nicely to be one of the worst xbox titles out there. Beware of the dark side of the force, as well as crummy games from Lucas Arts.

Star Wars Obi-Wan is the best XBOX game I have played so far. The graphics are unbeleivable. With 15 plus awesome levels plus many bonus levels this makes for a grate game. It's a lot of fun to duke it out with your friends on the two player mode. This is a great game for all gamers, but especially Star Wars fans like myself.

one of the major dissapointments i had with jedi knight jedi outcast was that you had no control over your lightsabe. in obiwan, one analog stick controld your lightsabe, which leads to great action. also, by holding down force and pressing the white button, you go into focus mode, in which you can pull off devastating combos
Worth playing

Just finished Obi-Wan and overall I was happy with it. It's a blast to go through the Star Wars world, cutting droids in half and using force powers to throw objects, etc. I was basically addicted to it for the two weeks it took me to get through it (playing for a couple of hours at a time). The length was about right, although I was a little sad to finish it (always a sign of a good game). Gameplay does take some getting used to, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. It probably could be a bit more difficult, but I appreciate that I never threw the controller in frustration. Graphics are so-so and sounds are decent. Not a bad game, give it a shot.
Better then expected!

I purchased Obi-wan, used for under $15, to see what the game was like eventhough it gets horrible reviews at most places and is rated one of the worst xbox games out there.
I was pleasantly surprised though as the game was much better then I had expected. If you are a Star Wars fan there is a lot to like here. Players of the Jedi Knight series of PC games will feel right at home, once you get used to the controls.
There are some negatives to the game though. As noted in other reviews the voice acting isn't great, the control set takes getting used to and there are some glitches in the game. Those aside there is plenty for Star Wars fans to like, fighting along side Qui-gonn in levels, Saber training with Master Windu and battling Darth Maul, how bad can that be?
