Best Star Wars First Person Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 1

I really like being able to utilize the force and pull guns and push objects and enemies. The lightsaber control is cool too. The graphics and voice-overs could have been better. I hated contolling the cycle through your weapons like the sniper rifle and binoculars. Why doesn't the sniper rifle have an adjustable scope? And why can't you carve your name or symbol on the walls with the lightsaber? And, why, when you fall down the waterfall you hit the sky you look like you fall on the floor? And why can't you force-pull clubs and sticks? This game is pretty solid and challenging though. Hopefully they'll come up with a Star Wars game where you can use any of the Jedi or Sith to play the levels with and they have their own strengths and different abilities. XBox developers please keep this in mind next time.

a great game,,,but not as promiseing!

*Takes place before Episode I to make it more intresting
*Great graphics

* Has the Star Wars attitude
* Obi-wan does tricks with his lightsaber something you dont se everyday!
Cons
* The game slows down after about 1 hour of gameplay (half of Xbox's fault)
* This was tittled to be the most relistic video game to the movie but Obi-Wan says suff like "Iam not sure" durin duealing itsnt that suppost to be seiad whean like trying to open a locked door?
* IF it is relestic! thean howcome the Trade Federation main base leval witch is in Episde I it takes literly about 30 min without dieing or nothing...

Sure the graphics leave a lot to be desired but the gameplay is not slow and is fun in my book. I excuse the graphics in that it was a launch title for X Box and no one was certain exactly what to expect.

That is the question that I want answered, and thought that I had found it when I learned about this game last year. But the end result is monotonous and seems rushed.

First of all, for an adventure game, the story needs to much more explained than the little snippets that are given throughout the game. What you do get are little tidbits from the Episode I plot line thrown into the mix. But, they are displayed poorly throughout, as much is in this game.

To follow up on the displaying poorly remark, I have to say that the graphics on this game are definitely sub par. Most of the levels get extremely monotonous. You will know what I mean after following Qui Gon around into room after room that look absolutley identical. You will also notice that during the cut scenes, or during other gameplay parts when characters are speaking, they lack the ability to move their lips when they are speaking. It just seemed to me that the developers avoided attention to detail that any Star Wars fan would want.

The gameplay is what I should really be focusing on though. The force abilities rock, as does the manual control of the lightsaber. I have a feeling that these aspects are what they began with and based the game around as they are the best parts of it. This game also allows the ability of "bullet time" to a certain extent, however I didn't find it useful except in a few minor circumstances.

But, the major drawback to the gameplay is controlling Obi Wans movement. He lacks the ability to turn quickly to the right or the left, and his movement is incredibly choppy. You may just laugh as loud as I did the first time you saw him run as well. Another serious drawback to the game is the camera. There are some serious problems when you get to close to a wall or to another character. Other stalls in the gameplay include when more enemies are loading, and WHENEVER you turn on or off your lightsaber.

This game is barely worth the rental in my opinion, and only worth the purchase if you are a die hard Star Wars fan who needs to play all the games related to the series.

Pretty Sub-Average Game with just a few nice surprises

Aside from some of the really cool things that you can do with the "force" and decent controls, everything else about this game... The graphics look out-dated and non-Xboxish and you fight the same monsters over and over and over and over again in a very repetitive game. The voice-acting and CG movies are just plain bad.

Avoid this game -- get Halo instead.

This game is very nice. The controls aren't hard at all and the force powers come easily so that you'll be force pushin' and pullin' between lightsabers swings amongst a drove of battle droids on a whim. The graphics aren't bad and it's all a lot of fun, including facing other Jedi from the council inbetween missions. There is also a great multiplayer feature which adds years to it's playability. However, the game towards the end over all seems rushed. Darth Maul appears in the end and the game does nothing to maybe hype him up before that, as to build some sort of tension or fear. After that, he was easier to defeat than Mace Windu. The game, which focuses on Obi-Wan' path to become a Jedi Knight, has a horrible ending that looks sad and does nothing to tie it all togethor, but insteads brings in Anakin who is unheard of in the movie. For that, this game falls short of greatest, but is still a fun game. As far as the dissapointing ending and the last two levels (which seemed to drop the difficulty level a few notches)the multiplayer makes up for this. If you're wondering whether or not to buy this game, do it. It has many nice features, the multiplayer, and the incredibly sweet force slow-mo feature.

Buy if a fan, rent if not.

It's fun, especially if you are a fan of the Star Wars world.

But, the graphics are pretty poor. Just bland, drap stuff. And the game stutters when Obi-wan puts away his light saber (kind of like Halo does when it loads areas/checkpoints, if you are familiar with that game, only worse).

I'd buy it before I'd pick up Halo, but not before I'd buy Max Payne or Silent Hill 2.

Second only to Halo

First person console games are usually not up to the standards set by avid computer gamers. Obi Wan holds its own without breaking a sweat. Excellent interface and gameplay. The only console game better than Obi Wan is Halo. Get them both and you have the best of all worlds.
