Good game, But LucasArts could have done better.

I dont own this game, But I have rented the game three times and I have almost beaten it, the graphics are great, music score is wonderful, character movement is also a wonder, but the only two things that i have found wrong with this game, first, was the voice over for obi-wan, it was terrible, Lucas Arts could have hired someone with a more convincing obi-wan voice. It didnt sound good at all. The next thing that was a problem, was when I de-activated obi-wans lightsaber, there's a quick pause in the game and then the game resumes. Over all, it is a good game for star wars fans to rent or purchase...

give it a chance

i know this game didn't live up to expectations, but give it a chance. yes, the graphics can be bad(more about that in a minute), the voice acting is terrible, and the enemy a.i is rather stupid, but for some reason it's still one of my favorite xbox games. i think it's a great game for when i just want to hack stuff up. single player running around with a lightsaber. granted its not as fun as halo, but you don't have to think while playing this game either. it's good for winding down after a hard day and you don't feel like getting amped up to play halo but you stll want to play something. back to the graphics, i found that the monster cable component set really helped this game a lot. more than any other game i have. obviously, component is a digital connection, but it really did tighten up the picture and the colors are awesome. just give it a fair shot.

And I was really looking forward to it, too

I saw that there was going to be a game for the XBox that allowed you to be a Jedi wielding a lightsaber, and I was really excited--I mean, that's every kid that grew up with Star Wars' dream, right? If only the game had lived up to it.

The graphics were just not up to XBox standards--everything just seemed fuzzy, not the crisp nice graphics that other games have. The graphics seemed about 4 years old, instead of the ahead of the times graphics you expect from XBox.

The controls were very hard to get used to. The manual suggests that its possible to do things that I was never able to get done. The basically necessary auto-target command was off by default and reverted to off in the middle of fights. And shouldn't a jedi have lightning quick reflexes? The pause between when I pressed the stick for maneuvering the light saber and when it actually moved was noticeable and irritating.

My biggest problem with the controls was actually more with the camera than the controls. Its a following camera, which for starters you have no control over. I thought every game now let you change which direction you were looking--what's with that? There were times that I wanted to look up or around, and it was absolutely impossible. The following camera also caused another problem. It changed view direction too quickly. Because the controls are in relation to the camera, not the character (pushing forward on the stick makes the character move in the direction of the view, not necessarily forward to the character's POV), having the camera move too fast means that you can have trouble walking in a straight line. This was most obvious when you round corners, or are backed against a wall. The camera sits off to the side of you (because it doesn't want to look at the back of a wall), and as you step forward away from the wall (by pushing to the right or left, since you are at an odd angle to the camera), it suddenly jumps to behind you. Since you haven't had enough time to stop pushing to the side, you are now running the wrong direction, and the camera continues to try to stay behind you, making the movement even worse. By the time the incorrect movement is done, you are facing completely the wrong direction, and your enemy has had a chance to hit you at least once, if not multiple times.

Finally, there are the out of game issues. Why does LucasArts force you to use the analog joystick/pad to maneuver through menus? Most games allow you to use any of the controls, and this just seemed like they weren't thinking of usability. And these days it seems like most games have made a point of having quick to no loading screens. Obi-Wan has the longest loading screens of any game I have played on the XBox, even when you are just restarting a level that you just played.

All in all, this felt like a game that was done too quickly without enough time put into usability--it seems like a few tweaks would really make it much more fun (the graphics would probably be a lot harder to fix, but I could live with that--the usability problems just ruined the game for me). Yeah, you get to play a jedi with a light saber, which really gets my adrenaline pumping, but if only it were a better game.

The Best Game I have Ever Played!

I loved this game, it was the best game I ever played! You play as Obi-Wan with his lightsabre and all and a load of force powers, such as push, pull, defend jump, and so on. The handling with this game is easy and the storyline is great. So of the reveiws for this game that I have read, people give reasons, but their reasons are not that great. I mean come on people, do you expect every single game made is perfect? Give me one game that has no flaw at all, that everyone in the entire world would like! You can't! I'm not say this game is perfect, but it's most fun I have ever had on a game... any ways back to the game, It's story star before episode 1 and over laps it. Jedi battle arena is alot of fun too. And if you ever need to brush up some there is a training level.
I love this game it's the best

TOO EASY

Bottom line after playing this game for ten hours and then its over is weak. There should be different difficulties. Nice Idea and great soundtrack but too easy. And there should be an option in the jedi battle to be darth maul and robots and other characters...i mean now it is just a jedi versus a different face...nothing real special on that aspect...fun for while, but....

I was ready to play some more!

This game rox! With it's stunning graphics and scary music I couldn't believe it!Maybe even better then the movie! I loved how you'd here this music that would freak you out and then the Tuskin Raiders in big groups maybe even 19 would jump out of the fire! You have to be constantley on guard or you won't see them coming! You see I own a nintendo64 and I'm not used to the xbox but I'll tell you it's GREAT!!! The only problem is the multi player battle isn't fun unless you have like four people playing.
Overall;
One word;GREAT

Obi-wan is a good game but is too hard to beat. It would be better if you could play the COMPUTER in Jedi Battle.

Not bad at all

Great gameplay. Plenty of action. The whole "mission" thing Lucas Arts always make with primary and secondary objectives is getting annoying though. Not very happy with the plot. (what can you expect from a starwars game) But overal, a great game to play. If you get good at it, the one on one battles can be quite fun.

I forced myself to continue playing this game in hopes that towards the end, it would get funner...it never did. To be completely honest, I actually dreaded playing this game every day. Besides the below average graphics, and awkward controls, the gameplay was far below par. The graphics would be sufficient at times, but at no time were they spectacular, or even better than average. I found the game to glitch, and pause for no reason in the middle of battles, and if I ever tried to do more than one thing at once. The controls were very hard to get used to, and it was nearly impossible to do more than one thing at once. Granted it is hard to make it possible to have all the powers a jedi knight has, there were too many things to do with the controllers, especially considering you cant use more than one power at a time. The gameplay was oftentimes confusing and extremely frusterating. The only way I could even come close to recommending this game is if someone had a guide to let them know the missions they were to accomplish. Sure the game would give a brief description of what to do, but in no way was it enough information to get the job done. Also the fact that the player is only given four chances of continuing a level before they have to start over again was extremely frusterating. The levels were long and drawn out, which would be fine, but the way the continuations worked, I would find myself gettin to the end of a level, and then not having any continuations left (which was extremely frusterating to say the least). Overall, I would not recommend this game to another gamer, but with a guide, or level maps, it has the possibility to be BEARABLE.

IT WAS NOT THAT BAD!!!!!!!!

Ijust recently got my x-box and had my eyes set spiderman as my first game. Once I got to the store they told me it was sold out and the only other game that caught my eye was starwars:obiwan. reading some of these reviews I felt a little recentful of buying it at first but then I thought "hey, it couldn't be worst than starwars:Jedi power battles on dreamcast and playstation right? Yeah I was right!! This is a pretty good game to be beat down in the reviews like it was. Yes the graphics weren't as good as the xbox was capable of but they were good. Yes the voice acting of obiwan sound like he had a cold and was still holding his nose but it gave me something to laugh at. If that was all the game had to offer yeah it would [stink] but fortunatly you got to actually play this game other than look and listen to it. The force powers are great. Pushing objects, pulling blasters, pushing people, once you master these skill on some levels don't even need to use your lightsaber. Nope you can just walk around all cool and stuff while your foes are mysteriously getting to beat down by forced flying objects. And when you finely get tired of being the silent yet cool avenger of the force then take your light sabar and become and extremely violent and loud (yet cool) avenger of the force! If you ever wanted to become a Jedi knight this your game! Well I gottat go now because it's lighting and thundering and computer almost died twice. Anyway all I'm trying to say is that it wasn't that bad.
