We bought this because it came with the remote and it's actually a pretty good game! I would recommend it to others, but purely because we only ended up paying $10 more than the remote to get the game as well. I'm not sure if it's worth much more than that, but I think wii knew this when they created the game as well :) Anyways, I would get this game with the remote to see the variety of things that the wii can do and to play duckhunt :)

I bought this game primarily because I wanted a second remote for my Wii. Essentially the games were an extra $10, and are worth about that. However, that doesn't mean that they aren't a fun diversion. If you are in the market for an additional remote, spend the extra $10 for Wii Play.
An excellent training program

Wii Play is so much more than a senseless series of games. It can be viewed as a training program which acquaints the player with the simple movement found in other games. It gets the player accustomed to skill using the wiimote by going through a series of short timed exercises (games). The hunting program which has you going through a variety of shooting scenarios, which gets the player used to using the controller to aim and shoot accurately, from simple balloons to frantic aliens trying to aduct your mii. This skill will make a person a better player in such games as Zela, Red Steele, Rayman Raving Rabbids, etc., which require carefully aiming and shooting. The fishing game helps get used to fishing control found in Zelda. The racing cow game helps skills found in Rayman. Find Mii helps concentration skill which is needed in most games and helps build quick reflects needed in many games. The ping pong game builds concentration and helps in being accustomed to the controller in the single game which continues getting progressively difficult, as you try to set a new record. Pose Mii builds skill in quick reflect and interaction with the controller, is a puzzle game tool. Laser Tag builds reflex control found in many games and finally Tank, which introduces the Nunchk controller, which are found in such games as Zelda and Red Steele. As games on the disc are played, it helps the gamer make the fluid transition to more complex and demanding games.
My kids like it more than I ....but its ok.

the mini game are not too challenging. I like the tank game and the pool game...the rest really do not hold my interest. My youngest (8yrs) Loved it. She practices Fishing and the Shooting gallery and Cow Race. The older kids seem to like the Tank run. I like Pool the best...tank as a runner up!
I bought the game used for $29.00 without the remote( I did not need it) but I think I paid too much. If I were to buy it now on just the merit of the games, it is worth about $19.99.
I would have rather they come up with a "Paradise Pool" type game for the Wii...I'd be all over that!

This was definite a good buy. I had read the review on Amazon first before I bought it. Just the wI mote alone costs so you get the games for $10 which is really cheap. The games were quite fun - not as sophisticate as other games so that is why I gave it a 4 stars, could have been a 4.5 stars. I highly recommend if you are looking for a second wiimote.
Not Worth It!

Even with the free remote, this game is not worth the money. They really failed on this one. The ping pong (which I was looking forward to) isn't even a game, it's just volleying back and forth until you miss. The one or two ping pong shots you have to make on Smooth Moves is more challenging and fun. The fishing game, and horse game (whatever it is) are extremely lame. The shooting game could be fun, but it only has a certain number of levels, and then you're done.....boring. There are a couple of other games that are alright, but really nothing to jump up and down about. If you're interested in a game of pool or laser hockey, than buy it, but it's certainly not worth the pricetag!!!!
The remote is what makes it worth the buy.

At the time of this writing, a Wiimote by itself is $40, so you're getting 9 mini games for $10, which is not bad.
The games range from lame to nice, however because of their diversity you can bet that everyone will like at least one game out of the 9 that come with Wii Play.

It's an awesome way to get that next wii remote you've been needing! The games are so-so. Tanks is awesome. The major problem is that the games are redundant. Otherwise is a great addition to the wii game collection!
