Jipped and dissapointed

Like some real rpg paper Mario fans. we expected an rpg, not a side scrolling Mario bros game with bowser as a playable character. this is a terrible let down. But the n again its not the worst game its not for rpg fans like me its for little kids and those who enjoy Mario bros a whole lot. My friend brought and I thought it was going to be one of those long and good adventure rpgs like the first and second one. I say if you have a little extra money why not buy it or rent it before you buy it to see if you like it. For those who want the original lets hope nintendo makes a better 4th one, or settle for this.

Too much dialogue, not enough gameplay

Sadly, it's true: the dialogue/cutscenes in this game, while clever, get incredibly annoying after several hours of gameplay. This is too bad, because the 2D/3D flipping and puzzle solving is really fantastic and a lot of fun.

I'd rent this one, and hold out for Super Mario Galaxy.

WAY to much CRAZY info!

As a 10 and a half year-old, I've played this game and I'm almost at the final chapter. So if you REALLY want to know the game, read this!

You might be wondering exactly WHY Mario is back to the hero thing. Count Bleck, ( Semi-main baddie ) is trying to get Bowser and Princess Peach married so the Chaos heart can come forth to destroy all worlds. Freaky. Mario has to collect Pure Hearts to stop this.

To make matters worse, Count Bleck has minions. O Chunks is dumb, Mimi can change her form into anyone, Dimento (secret main baddie ) makes matters worse... ALOT.

Well, thanks for reading this and just so you know,Mario flips from 2-d to 3-d. Bye!

what does this question mean?

Fun, but abusive of wiimote's potential

This game has great sections, is incredibly innovative and seems like it will last a while, and if I were playing this for the gamecube than I would be happy as a clam.

UNFORTUNATELY, the game barely uses the wiimote whatsoever which gives you a semi-hollow feeling inside because the wii is based around the wiimote.

Basically, the game will last a long time, brings back the good old days of Super Mario Bros. (Trust me, if your not a fan of that this game will change it because of better plot and role-playing rather than just old-fashioned levels, and will give you a nice, fun challenge, but the misuse of the wiimote leaves this game kind of iffy and sometimes you just wish that you culd do something more active...I would recommend spending your money on a more innovative wii game though this one is still fun.

Where's the Wii technology?????

As a parent, I'm pretty disappointed. We invested in the Wii system to get our kids off the couch, and my kids are thoroughly enjoying Super Paper Mario...ON THE COUCH!

While it's a great video game, it's NOT a great Wii game. It doesn't take advantage of any of the Wii capabilities, so you might as well play it on a GameCube. (Ok, you do shake the remote to wake Mario up occasionally, but that's about it.)

After being so impressed with other Wii games and the amount of moving around you do to play them, this was a huge let-down! C'mon Nintendo!!!

Small Review on Paper Mario

Now I have been playing video games since back in the super nintendo era (nintendo era but that was more my brother's console and not mine) and I have seen a lot of games. The Paper Mario Franchise has always been a fun and quirky one and all of the games have been hits, this one being no exception.
One thing is to warn though if you have played the previous renditions of paper mario and are expecting the same RPG turn based battle game then you are in for a disapointment since the game takes a 90 degree turn and moves away from the turn based system to a more simple yet inovative sidescrolling action game- ala super mario games. Some of the RPG elements are still visible though such as the leveling up, items that proide for bonuses, etc.
The side scrolling feature is a welcome addition if you ever wondered if any good side scrollers were ever gona be made again, this game brings mario back to the side scrolling roots bu with a twist: the feature to switch from instant 2d to a 3d perspective. This feature allows a complete change on gameplay and is crucial in all the story to for you to master and use this well in order find all the secrets that just lie around in the 3d world. It might seem strange at first but soon enough you find the beauty in this simplicity and how deep the mechaninc in reality is. Also lets not forget that you can play as aditionay characters who have different abilities to mario's.
The gameplay itself is simple enough with a few puzzles here and there. In my opinion it might be a tad bit short and easy for the generic video game experts, but none the les it provides a nice and full experience that no other game can provide. Less experienced gamers should welcome this since its a fairly easy and entretaining game.
In the end paper mario is a great game, worthy of any library for those who own the Wii. so why do I rate it 4 stars? because from my gamer perspective the short game provides one of the only cons this game has, i would have liked it to be longer but the game is mor ehtan enjoyable non the less.

Excellent for Puzzle Fans!!

I was first skeptical about this game because I had never played a Mario game before. However, I decided to give this game a try since I liked platformers and puzzle games. Having completed just a third of the game, I am quite impressed with the fun-factor provided by this title. While the dialogs can get lengthy, they are entertaining and not too annoying. The gameplay is unlike anything else out there right now. The puzzles make you think, which is very, very fun.

If you enjoy puzzle games at all, this title is an absolute "must-have"!!!

One of Wii's best, but not the greatest game ever

I've just recently owned a Nintendo Wii and this title is the first I've purchased. I believed in the hype Super Paper Mario was getting and it intrigued me into buying it. I loved the Paper Mario series from the N64 to the Gamecube. However, I don't believe that this title lived up to it's hype but that does not make this a bad game.

The nunchuck is not featured with this game and you hold the Wii remote to it's side the entire time of gameplay. This disappointed me a little as I really wanted to get a feeling as to what the Wii remote could do. You do point at the screen whenever you feel you need to learn something with Tippi, the Pixl. Side scrolling is seen throughout most of the game and you can switch from a 2D environment to a 3D environment. An interesting feature to the game, but the graphics aren't that good for 3D. The gameplay also got a little irritating whenever I wanted to leave a world to do something different I would have to go back to the first Chapter in order to return where I was at if I did not complete the level.

Gameplay is simple. It brings a familiar vibe with the previous Paper Mario titles so it is not confusing to play. It still would've been a good idea to change a few things. I did enjoy that whenever you encountered an enemy it didn't get flashy and change to a stage everytime. That got annoying easily for me in the previous game. The gameplay also got a little irritating whenever I wanted to leave a world to do something different I would have to go back to the first Chapter in order to return where I was at if I did not complete the level. You still get to cook and The Pit Of 100 Trials can be found as a sidequest again. Not many changes to this title, but I don't think it hurt the gameplay that badly. I know a lot of people are afraid of changes in a game.

Overall, this game is fun and can keep you doing other various things aside from playing the main storyline to keep you interested. If your not so easily annoyed by repetitive gameplay this is recommended to buy, otherwise rent it first.

What game play to expect, in a nutshell

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 0 / 1

You want a review waxing poetic about the sounds, music, graphics, camera angles, and button-mashing complexity? This isn't it - there's a ton of those already posted. This is a nutshell review of what kind of game play to expect.

This game would have been more accurately titled "Paper Super Mario", since it is more of a Paper-like version of Super Mario, than the next chapter in the Paper Mario series.

Super Paper Mario stresses the "Super" part of it's title, and not so much the "Paper" aspect of its heritage. This is a side-scrolling, Super Mario-like game. It has some elements of Paper Mario worked into it, but there are no turn-based battles (which really distinguished Paper Mario from other Mario jump-and-smash games), and there is a very linear, keep-moving-left feel to the game. No RPG wanderlust for you!

Is this baaaadd? No, not really. Disappointing, if you are a fan of Paper Mario - which I am. (Yes, the previous two Paper Marios are among the most simplistic RPG games out there - but they are still such good-natured fun!)

So adjust your expectations. Super Paper Mario really is fun! Just think of it as a Super Mario taking place in the Paper Mario universe.
