Hilarious and fun to play, but painfully easy

This game is very enjoyable. The dialogue is very well written and has a very dry wit about it, and the fun found here pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the game. The graphics are very soft and playful, none of the enemies are that imposing... really all this game offers is old fashioned fun and clever puns.

WHICH THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH!

But seriously... this game is laughably easy. The puzzles are simplistic and repetitive, the enemies are so weak that you could take them out of the game and the overall enjoyment may go up, as that would allow you to get to the next batch of dialogue faster. You have a little helper that gives you advice... but honestly, the solutions to the puzzles/weaknesses of the enemies are so obvious that I have trouble imagining these tips enlightening anyone over the age of 5.

So basically, if you are looking for a challenging platformer/action RPG... you need to look elsewhere. If you just want a fun game that will make you laugh I suggest buying this game used, or renting it, as it is hardly worth $50 when you can easily beat it after a few days of dedicated play (I think I finished in a touch over 20 hours? And I think I talked to everyone in the game at least once...). So yeah... let me sum it up like this:

Things this game is: cute, fun, hilarious, quick and simple to play through

Things this game is not: pornography, microwave safe, Pokemon, challenging to anyone who has experience with any of the first three 'not' points

An Interesting Flip to the Mario Series

This new Mario game for the Nintendo Wii console brings a new dimension to both the Mario and Paper Mario series. Like most other Mario games, the Princess has been captured and taken away. In this game she is taken by Count Bleck. His plan, following the Dark Prognostics, is to have Peach and Bowser get married. This marriage will open a void that will consume every world. Mario is brought to the land of Flipside, a demension between dimensions. He has to stop the void by retrieving the 8 Pure Hearts throughout the game, as well as rescuing Peach, Bowser and Luigi.

Now to the most unique and interesting addition to the game: The ability to "flip" between 2-D and 3-D. This allows you to find secrets and solve puzzles in the game. The downside is that you are only allowed a limited amount of time in 3-D.

Fun: A
Creativity: A+
Story: B+
Overall: A

P.S. The music in the game is quite dull and bland and never actually uses the Mario theme song. This is not important but is mildly annoying.

P.P.S. This game is very long, especially if you want to go back and find all the secrets. Also it uses the Wii Remote's features very well in creative ways.

Solid Game

My favorite things so far about this game is the storyline and the 2D/3D interaction. The controller adds a little extra to the game but not much. In addition to the main quest, there are treasure hunts, card collecting, and finding ingredients for recipes. The only drawback, in my opinion, are that bosses are too easy.

I thought this game was pretty fun, but it was really annoying to have to read so much dialog about the story. I was expecting it to be more like the original mario brothers games (from the nintendo/super nintendo) based on the fact that it had 2d graphics, and the video that I saw of the gameplay. I wasn't expecting something like mario rpg. That being said, the gameplay that was there, was pretty fun. There are a lot of homages to other games, for instance on one of the later levels you get to fight a boss in a horizontal scrolling shooter mode, which is pretty fun. The game isn't too difficult to execute, it's more of a "dang where's that doorway" type puzzle in places.. at least, that's where I had the most problems (it wasn't from dying).

Paper Mario is 5 star on paper only

Start playing this game, you will be annoyed so much with the theory and story telling and no way to bypass it. Unnecessary stretched and stretched, you will keep pressing buttons to move ahead will be so annoying, u will wish to just close it and go away. I am not a hardcore gamer, I want to enjoy for whatever time I get after my busy day, I don't want to be bored like this.

but 2D and 3D concept is good and its worth trying once.

Hey am not a review expert but i got to say if you like Mario games and funny stuff, this is a very good game. I like it cuz of the style of it very good crazy story. good graphics nice songtrack and well the wimote is not really at full use here it has good control too. hope this helps :P

PROS:
Great gameplay

This is a great game for all of those who love Mario Bros.! It doesn't utilize the unique features of the Wii so wonderfully, but it is still a really great game. Well worth the money compared to other Wii games out there right now!
