Just as good as the Dreamcast version!

The graphics and gameplay are just as good as the Dreamcast. I logged many hours at the local toy stores playing the DC version, and am thrilled to finally have it for the PS2! If you've been waiting for this one, it's definitely worth it!

Great Fun

I was lucky enough to get a copy at electronics boutique before they sold out. What a great game! Don't wait folks to get this one. Unbelievable graphics, just like the arcade.

Fun.. for a limited time

This was the first PS2 game I ever played and I was impressed with the graphics and sound.. at first. This isn't a game to buy, unless you can get it cheap. There are only so many things you can do in this game. Basically, you are a cab driver and you have a limited amount of time to drive people to their destinations. That's the game. As I said, it's fun for a limited time.

AMAZING!!

I've got two words: Must Buy! I played this a couple times in the arcade and thought it might be decent. Then I got it and it is fantastic. The plot of the game is great itself: One of four possible taxi drivers going nuts in a city getting as much money as possible not to mention being able to hit other vehicles without any cost! Where else can you find that? NOWHERE! The soundtrack is even good! You can play mini-games, such as one where you have to try to jump 150 feet, try to stay out of the ocean, etc. You don't even have to play by the arcade rules. You can work for 3,5,or 10 minutes at a time! Don't even bother renting this one. Plenty of fun 4 hours! Two thumbs up!!!

If you have the DC version don't get this version.

Being an unbiased reviewer who likes both the Dreamcast and the Playstation 2 and has played all three versions (DC, PS2, and Arcade). I must say if you have played the other two versions you know what to expect. This is indeed a very killer game (and a killer ap for both the DC and PS2) that is viturally identical to the DC version. It has the Crazy Box and the Orignal Mode that was in the DC version.END

This game is great!

I love the game Crazy Taxi. I have played the arcade version at movie theaters and arcades. This game is better than most of the arcades because of the graphics. The PS2 system takes this great game and makes it better. My one dissapointment was that you can only drive in two areas but I still love this game. People who dont like this game just dont understand it! Play it and love it!

Fun, But Not For Long.

I really enjoyed the game, but I felt once again it suffered from a repeated flaw of PS2's first generation of games. It was too short and offered candy for the eyes, but no variety for the brain. The game is a lot of fun. In fact, family members who don't even like gaming really enjoyed the experience and played for long stretches. Unfortunately, the game tops out. While all games eventually do, this game seem to do so early. Perhaps because it is the clone of the arcade, so it lacks the sophistication that home users desire. But I liked this game, but I quickly became bored along with the non-gamers in the home. My suggestion is if you want a car game, go get Twisted Metal: Black. If violence is an issue stay here and buy this, it is fun.

Crazy Taxi is a brilliant Arcade Style game to be enjoyed by all. Have fun delivering your passengers on time with unique personalities and difficulty levels to vary gameplay.

fun but repetitive

Crazy Taxi was originally a very popular arcade game, and first made a console appearance on the now-defunct Sega Dreamcast. In 2001 Crazy Taxi arrived on the Playstation 2 and sold enough copies to make it onto the Greatest Hits line. It was only a couple of months ago that I finally picked up a copy of the game.

The premise of the game is that you are a cab driver and it is your job to pick up fares and deliver them to their destination in the allotted amount of time. There are no rules, only that you get to the destination as fast as possible. You can drive in whichever lane you want (or the sidewalks), and hit as many cars as you need to if it helps you get to where you are going. It is a fast paced game and is a lot of fun.

There are two game modes, Arcade and Original. Arcade Mode has the San Francisco level that you may have played in the arcade. Original is a brand new level created just for this game. While the streets are different, there is no difference in the gameplay, and after a short time of playing, I didn't really notice any difference between the two. On each of the two levels, you have the option to play by arcade rules (limited amount of time with time bonuses for delivering passengers quickly), or to select a specific time limit. There is another game mode called Crazy Box. Crazy Box is essentially a training mode where you get to perfect your skills. There are initially 9 different challenges (and some of them are quite difficult), but as you complete the challenges, a couple more open up (and these are exceedingly more difficult). The good thing about Crazy Box is that it is something different from the regular game, and as an added bonus, I probably would not have learned some of the skills/tricks in the game without Crazy Box.

The game is fun, but it is awfully repetitive. After playing for a week or two, I started quickly getting bored because there is very little variety in the gameplay and you'll find that you are just bringing the same customers to the same locations and the fun begins to wear off. Rather than purchasing this game, it might be best to be a weekend rental with some friends. Even though it is only a 1-player game, it does have the sort of party game feel to it.

The four star rating is for the initial fun, but it wears off too quickly.

Not too long ago, I purchased Crazy Taxi for PS2. The minute I started playing, I couldn't stop! The graphics are great, the sounds and music keep you listening for more funny remarks and tunes. The game has two different towns you can drive around in- Arcade and Original. Both are guarenteed to keep you entertained! You can even play in Crazy Box- a collection of mini games with different goals. Even if you played this game 4 hours straight for a year, you still wouldn't be bored! Buy this game today, and choose to reek havoc or be a top rated cabby!
