This game gets better each time I beat it. Its amazing. I finally finished it on extreme difficulty. It took 24 hours to complete and was an incredible gaming experience. You haven't finished MGS2 until you have beaten it on extreme difficulty without radar.
I wasn't too impressed last fall but one year can make quite a difference.
I played it, so listen

The graphics ,the new abilities, the storyline where you wish you could tell the world that Sergei Gurlokovich(im not sure if this is correct}was mentitioned in Metal Gear Solid(and also many more connections wich some may remember from MGS 1) ,and the new equipepment are great. But it lacks three things. The game was not as long as MGS 1. ( If you didin't finish don't read this one ) It would much better if you had the Sword (I think it was a Katana) earlier.Like in the beggining of the game.Even though it was supposed to be ( you'll understand this if you finished it) , it is too much like MGS1 . So the story Is A very little bit .........umm ...how should I put this..... Bad.
It's all in the Stealth

Solid Snake is back but this time he is working with Otacon as a team. He is on a mission to stop the latest and most powerful Metal Gear, Metal gear ray. Another awesome creature this time amphibious. It has new moves, like hiding behind walls and peeking past, hanging, and old moves like knocking. Use your wits to outsmart your enemies. The harder the level the smarter your enemies. Enemies may raise an alarm if they see a dead mate which don't disappear like in the last game. Hide the enemies by dragging them into a locker. Take pentamazines to keep your hand steady while sniping. Shoot well cause a bad aimed shot may hit a wall making sounds causing an alarm. Awesome gameplay and graphics. There are 2 chapters, first the tanker chapter where you use snake and the second chapter where you use Raiden a new player with all of snake's skills. Old characters like revolver Ocelot and Solidus are back for more. The 2nd chapter is alot like the 1st game maybe even too much but that doesn't stop me from giving it a 5/5. This is another game worth saving for. Get ready for some action...
Best game of the year

This is one of the most highly anticipated game. When I got my copy, I was exhilirated. The game surely does not disappoint. Konami always pushes the envelope when it comes to video games. The guards in this one are so much harder to dodge than the first one. In the first you could wipe out the guards with your AK, but in this one they just keep coming. Hiding from them is a lot harder, too. There are tons of new tricks snake can pull out of his sleeves. He can tumble, hang, and turn the corner and shoot. The game has different modes to play in which will challenge the beginner and the expert.
The story is good with tons of subplots. I don't want to give it away, so just get it.
I'm not quite sure if they have the VR training in this because I haven't played that far in the game.
In any case, this game will not disappoint.
FANTASTIC!!! GREATEST VIDEO GAME EVER!!!

This is a fantastic game! It takes a while to get used to (some aspects are a little strange at first), but you will grow to love everything about it. The plot, though incredibely complicated is amazingly crafted and will blow your mind. The gameplay is amazing-the controls are tricky at first, but once you master them you have more control than with most games. The graphics couldn't be better. Besides MGS3, I haven't seen better graphics for PS2.
The bosses you fight are great-from Vamp, an immortal vampire to Solidus, a clone of Snake bent on taking down the Patriots to Fatman, a crazy bomber.
Also, you use some awesome weapons which you can pick up along the way. Some examples are the M4, M9, AK-74u and socom.
For the first tiny section of the game, you play as Snake, the protagonist of MGS1. Then, as a twist, you play as Raiden, a young, somewhat androgynous soldier with a dark past for about 95% of it.
After playing this game once, I decided I prefered MGS3. But after playing a again, I've realized just how great MGS2 is. It's more than just a video game. It is a truly captivating story, with an incredible plot and engaging characters. It encompasses philisophical issues and conspiracy theories while remaining a very fun game to play.
By the end, you will have gone though an amazing journey and you'll feel completely satisfied with the story's ending.
I cannot reccomend this game enough. I don't know how to explain how fantastic this game is. Simply play it.
certainly is...odd

This game is great. First thing first though, do not look up anything about the plot before playing this game, just be prepared for anything.
Graphics: 10/10 These are some of the best graphics i've seen on ps2. especially considering the game is from 2001.
Sound: I didn't really pay much attention to the sound in this game...
controls: 10/10 The controls are almost perfect. Theres a few things I had to adjust though.
Gameplay: 9/10 Actual gameplay is awesome. It's the bosses that aren't very good. The bosses either seem to be trying to imitate the first game (or should i say...third) or are just plain stupid.
plot: 7.7/10 This is where the game falls short a bit. The plot is good, but it's extremely unfocused, confusing, and rediculously out-there. Towards the end, stuff makes less and less sense, especially a certain part which i won't spoil, but it's after the really really long cutscene.
Bonus: Snake has one of the coolest mullets ive ever seen.
Good entry to the series

MGS2 starts out rather straight forward and has the expectable 50 plot twists before its over. However this one takes it even further and some of the weird stuff that happens towards the end might be pretty confusing. (like having in game characters break the 4th wall by telling you to turn off the game console!!)
I love Raiden. He should totally star in more Metal Gear games. It is unfortunate that you only get that sword so late in the game but I think you can unlock it for the whole game later.
All in all very impressive.
Almost perfect

SPOILER:
Gameplay-wise, this is 5 stars. But just because the player no longer controls Solid Snake in the latter 75% of the game and instead controls a... (well I don't want to offend anyone so I won't use a certain term), I substract 1 star from what is otherwise a perfect game.

Raidens a fine character. It would get boring if Solid Snake was the character forever and the storyline is great.

I got this as a gift for my younger brother. He was so happy when it arrived because it completes his collection of MGS Games. This came in good condition and kept my brother occupied for 3 hours or so.
