Great game..stealth is much more important..

As the enemies are alot smarter here as they will seek you out in obvious hiding places. Try hiding in a locker when on full alert, and they'll open them. Try hiding underneath a table and they'll blow you up with a grenade. Stealth ala Tenchu is a required skill here if you don't want to get into direct confrontation as hiding isn't always a guaranteed escape from a world of bullets. Graphics are, of course, beautiful. The game is stil a bit "talky" at times. Some people might say the cinematics are too long as well. Me, I enjoyed the game. They paid more attention to detail in this game and it's those little things that make this game enjoyable. Like if Snake runs acrosss a rain soaked deck and a guard just happens to see those footprints, he'll be alerted. Although the games is a bit short, there's still replay value in playing other difficulties and collecting dog tags to get better stuff.

This game has some of the best graphics ever to be seen in a game on any system. It's no wonder that it's the most requested game on PS2. Unfortunately, for me, playing it didn't take my breath away. I didn't play the first Metal Gear so this one's story leaves me very confused most of the time. But who needs a story when you have amazing graphics right? Well, about half of the entire game is spent watching cut scenes which go on and on and bore you to death. You just want them to end so you can go back to shooting people. This really isn't a video game. It's a video game/movie. If you take out all of the cut scenes you're really left with a pretty short game. I finished it in 2 days. I'm glad I rented it because I would never want to play this game again and have to go through all those cut scenes all over again. Based on technical merit the game is perfect in every way. That's why, out of a perfect 5.0, I'm giving it:

Medal Gear Solid is such a Infomous game It has Lots of blood and Volince and you can go on lots of different Missions you can gat a whole bunch of wepons such as Guns that have Lasers and pistals and sleeping dart guns. You even have code Names such as Liquid Snake,Solid Snake,and Riden. If you like Girls,Well in this game you have a Girl FriendYou also meet a guy named Vamp he is a Vampire and you also meet another girl named Fortain. Well So Have Fun And I Hope Your Ready!!!!!!

Why the hell would anyone give this game a bad rating? I must have played this game ten times over before i got bored of it. And considering it takes days to beat it (dude, i beat zelda in just over a week if that helps) i think this game is totally tight-A$$ and is without a doubt the game to buy for anyone who hates games that end too soon. P.S--Hold out for the one coming out in december, it has all this extra $H!T.

I've heard complaints that the game was too short. "It's three hours long,". Some critics described it as "the ultimate rental."
I thought this was pretty funny at the time, because it was quite clear that those who made these complaints had neatly missed at least half of the point.

Those complaints will come again, Im sure, since its become rather fashionable to decry most PS2 adventure games as lacking in length, and again, the point will be missed by some distance. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is a movie and a game. Its not just a movie, to be watched once and put up on the shelf to gather dust. It's a game, a toy, and a brilliantly designed one at that, one you can find ways to play with for hours and hours.
If you have PS2 u need this game. If u haven't gotten by now u must be in a coma.GReat storyline, sometimes funny. This is not a game, its like you are playing a movie. Such free gameplay, its like GTA3. You can have fun and not try to beat the mission. IF u have played MGS1 this is a must. The stroyline is incredible. I've beaten this game on very easy, easy, normal and Hard. I'm working on Extreme now. But I reccomend (if u have played MGS1) to do the plant episode by itself before u do tanker becuase it will ruin the fun. Do the tanker after u beat Plant. Back to the game, it has incredible graphics and awesome replay value. After u beat u can get the dog tags to unlock stealth,Infinite ammo, Infinite air and grip. Right now go to the store and buy it, and then Buy MGS1 if u dont have it. Beat the game in 12-15 hours your first time. Play with the toy for hours afterwards. Can you collect all the dog tags?

Not as good as Metal Gear Solid

First off, the graphics in this game are awesome! But graphics don't make a game great. The enemy AI is much better than Metal Gear Solid but other than the graphics and AI the game lacks the same depth and originality. I beat the game in a little over 14 hours of game play. I was trying to get as many dog tags as possible too. I obtained several C4 and Claymore Mines and never had to use them. In Metal Gear Solid you couldn't pass the first boss (Ocelot) without blowing up a few walls with your C4. I just think this game could have been a lot better. With all the hype generated by the game magazines I was expecting a lot more. But it is still lots of fun to play. I gave it 4 stars because the graphics are incredible and there are a few really cool things in the game. But I give Metal Gear Solid 5 stars. That was the greatest Playstation game ever in my mind.

Great, even if Snake isn't in all of it (greedy people).

This is, by far, one of the greatest games for PS2. The graphics are unbeleivably realistic, the music is great, the plot is confusing but interesting, and isn't for little wimps who want to play everything in Deathly Easy mode. This a real great shot em' up game.

For those of you who noticed, that is a quote from the comic book-store guy on the Simpsons. Anyways, my friend has this game and I played the non-demo version today and let me say it is SUPERB. (...) My biggest complaint (and a minor one at that) about this game is the voice-overs in English. There seems to be no emotion in the voices of the characters, wheras in the demo you were seriously afraid of Olga when she was screaming at you. However, the gameplay has been smoothed out dramatically and i've only experienced slowdown when trying to shoot an enemy in first person mode outside in the rain. I repeat- GREATEST GAME EVER!!!!

I have just beat this game for the first time. I was kind of disappointed with it compared to the first edition. Overall MGS 2 is a pretty good game. The tanker level was the best part of the game. After you beat that level it begins to go downhill. First you have to play as someone else besides snake for the rest of the game. There is hours of movie clips which really begin to interfere with the game play. This game also has an extremely poor ending. It has a good story line but it somewhat interferes with the gameplay.
