Whats not to Buy!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone has not played the first metal gear i reccomend you to rent or buy it, it is cheap, but now the most anticpated game of the year will be more hardcore and more interactive.More of everything.More explosions, better graphics, nice sound and the most realistic A.I. ever in a game my suggestion buy it when it's out and you'll be amazed.

Plot:Taking place a couple years later,Some terrorists have went to the ruins of Shadow Moses island and found the scraps of metal gear rex. soon enough they seel it on the black market, and who better than the only soul survivor of the wreck than Revolver Ocelot to buy it, and make it Metal Gear Ray. That brings in a code red, and they get Snake(probably our greatest hero ever) to stop it at no cost. With twists turns and betrayles this game is a movie-game that is simply one word AMAZING!!!!!

The best game ever???

Maybe seeing is believing. When I say that this is the best game ever for a console, I mean it. The opening bridge cutscene is spectacular. Rain bounces off Snake's poncho, the wind even swirls the rain around. Not to mention the awesome effect of blur from the cars speeding by. The action really begins after a nearly 10 minute introduction. You take control of Snake on a tanker that has been hijacked. Guards are a lot more smarter in the sequel. They alert for backup using radios attached to their bodies. Snake can even shoot the radios, preventing them from calling for help. Along with numerous other features and special moves, this IS the game to buy in November or the year.

I bought this game expecting to play Solid Snake as the returning hero. Instead, I get Solid Snake as the introductory hero and a snot nosed rookie, who has a very over possessive girlfriend to play the rest of the game. The controls were better than the first, but the story line seemed choppy and not well put together. I also felt like I was watching a movie more than playing the game. When I bypassed most of the cut scenes, it was a short game.

One of the best games on PS2, or ever

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is one of the most anticipated and well appreciated sequels and a superb addition to a very good series.

To cut down the complex and long story, Solid Snake, a retired member of an elite force FOXHOUND is now part of a group called Philanthropy, whose goal is to rid all existing Metal Gears, nuclear warhead paraphernalia. After infiltrating the ship where the new Metal Gear is housed, he witnesses the sinking of the ship and the seizure of Metal Gear.

Two years later, a rookie soldier named Raiden is sent to rescue hostages, including the president, from a facility called the Big Shell. After arriving, he carries out many missions, which eventually, again, tie into Metal Gear. What erupts during afterwards is for you to play and find out yourself.

Also an important note, the game makes a lot of references to its previous games in the series, and if you would like to find out more, I suggest you at least just play the first Metal Gear Solid before playing this one.

MGS2 is a very old game right now, however, its great gameplay and accessibility for all skill levels make it replayable for me over and over again.

WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

well, it is the BEST game I've ever played....
BUT!
people who have clocked both MGS's (like me) will begin to hate how the writers were so lazy they made the whole thing just like MGS1... at the end of the game ocelot just says this was staged like it, but I find it just to be a lazy way to make a new game..... almost !everything! is the same:
-the pressie's and ab's (wateva his name is) death
-fighting an airship as a boss!
-snake to raiden in MGS2 is like snake to meryl in MGS1

-solidus is just liquid....
-you have to fight a metal gear at the end
-the guns....
-how the game starts... (finding the elevator, etc)
-otacon loses someone he loves... (boo-hoo)
-the music is very similar
-.....i can't think of anymore off the top of my head but there is TONNES!! more!

THIS GAME IS BORING!!!

this is the worst game you could ever sit down and play mainly for one reason, the inside cinematic sequences are SOOOO LONGGG. And by this i mean that some are about half and hour long and this cuts way down on the gameplay. I highly do not recommend this game because you are going to be sitting there for literally minutes and minutes at a time instead of actually playing the game which of course is the whole point of playing games, is to PLAY IT.

Hideo Kojima caters to the user side once again...

With MGS 1 for the PS 1 (soon to be enhanced RE 1 style for the NGC) blurring the line between interactvity in games and entertainment in movies, Kojima-san and his coders and artists built a monster of a game that has sold over 6 million copies. The story is monstruous and serpentine. Deception is never to far below the surface in each event and the the budget was FF7 huge...Welcomed voice talents such as David Hayter (Solid Snake), visuals that squeezed the PS 1 dry of its sources, amazing coding trickery (Just fight Psycho Mantis) and an excellent storyline...

So, a game garners 300mil in revenue so one should expect its sequel to follow the bigger, better and more of the good stuff rule. This is true; however, to a certain degree.

GAMEPLAY
Control is excellent for Snake with a more advanced engine for the PS2 due to a more dynamicly realized environment, more dynamic manuevers and more situations that demand more dynamic positionings and manuevers. Snake can now shoot in first person with any weapon a thankful upgrade for the tacful who prefer precision head shots. The first person view is very helpful.

A. I.
When you have small weapon and the guards have their riot shields and the ones without shields are ducking from behind the guards with shields, or weaving in out of barriers you know that these gaurds aren't direct ports with prettier gear from its predescessor. You will not be able to blast your way through this game as the term stealth really steps it up in here. You will have to hide bodies so not to alert other gaurds. You will have to opt to avoid gaurds who report to the desk sergeant via their "bricks" (CBs)...

GRAPHICS
The graphics in this game are unheralded. Very few games on the PS 2 can claim to have as much appropriate detail and one of them is Gran Turismo 3 A Spec, Splinter Cell (w/o the purdy XBOX lighting effects)...

FUN
I have to give this game a 5, story, Raiden and his girlfriend withstanding. From messing around in the codecs, to watching the sick scene with bare-assed Raiden and the Colonel razzing you for 30 minutes straight to sniping Vamp with precision while he has a valued hostage during a scene with a setting sun...It can get overwhelming....Once again Kojima created console gaming's most unforgettable characters and only one of them returned from MGS1.

DETRACTORS
I didn't like Raiden's inability to decide on scene (like a lone soldier is trained to do)in times of adversity without the input of his girlfriend...In fact, I hated his girlfriend and her whiny ass.
Oh and don't get used to playing Snake through the whole game as you may have figured out by now...

EXTRAS
I am going to be serious with you, this game is a treasure trove of goodies. You can distract gaurds with girly mags, take pics of posters and get responses from codec waveriders oh man there is just so much and plus references to the unforgettable charcters of MGS1 and Zone of the Enders. The list goes on and on

STORY
Alright here is where the game takes a hit. The core story is beautifully executed; however, Kojima-san inserts a lot of his own idiosynchracies about life, love virtual reality into the dialogue and things become a mess. The core story could have pushed this game along quite well without the opinionated verbiage that usually stalemates with another character's views on life which lead to tons upon tons of conundrum and verbal trickery that was so superfluous that it could only be Kojima and his cowriter exercising their wordy muscles with semantics, but it also gave personality to the characters. No 2 characters were sliced from the same cookie cutter.

With that said, if you loved MGS1 you will propose to MGS2 SoL.. but I recommend METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SUBSTANCE because it has everything MGS 2 SoL has plus: Snake's Stories, skateboarding and VR missions and more...

snake can wait

i love snake....always have always will .but it is nice to see that he too can take some time off.
I myslef was happy to know that snake was not the real star of the show.
this game rocks.....with all the little fun things you can do ( look up at birds and they will poop on you........and so on) I could not stop playing the game.
Some parts of the story like was stupid but everything else made up for it. IF you liked this game i suggest you play the orignal(for the nes but that game was harder), and metal gear (1) for the playstation.
