The only thing better would be Metal Gear Solid 3

This is on of the best games i've ever played.I reserved it at my local (store) the first time i seen the MGS2 banner..The game is great.The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay is wonderfull..This game is worth alot more (...),I give it 5 stars..Being one of the best games i've ever played.

THIS IS THE BEST RPG OUT THERE!!! I LOOKED AT THE RATINGS FOR THIS AND DECIDED TO GET IT. I WAS AMAZED AT THOSE GRAPHICS!!! THESE WERE ACTUALLY REAL PEOPLE AND NOT CARTOONS!!! YOU'VE GOT TO GET THIS IT'S SO ... COOL !!! ONCE AGAIN, GET THIS ... GAME!!!

MGS2 certainly surpassed my expectations when it comes to graphics, gameplay, and the sheer fun of playing the game! But, one thing sticks out like a sore thumb. The plot! The beginning is excellent: the infiltration of the Tanker by Solid Snake is definitely THE classic video game level to set standards for years to come. But, as the game progresses, you start to realize just how much of a screwball plot this game has. I won't spoil it for you, though. What makes this game worth buying is the gameplay, and the fact that you get to play as the most revered video game action hero of all-time! Solid Snake.

MGS2: Sons of Liberty is a game that all PS2 owners should own or at least have played. For Konami this game is a milestone for a game publisher that has proved throughout 2 decades that it is still one of the best.

The game itself focuses on a strong plot, VERY strong character development, stealth and exploration. The controls are great, the weapons and characters are for the most part very believable, and the situations the gamer finds himself in are thrilling. Do not pass this one up!!

I'm normaly not into these first person view/action games, but I've played the first metal gear and second on regular nintendo. and now I have a PS2. When I saw that there was a metal gear game available for the PS2 I jumped into it. I mean, come on for $$$ I thought I might check it out. Thinking I would get what I payed for, Fooled the hell out of me. Its better than Vice City GTA. If I could give it a ten I would.

like most reviews you'll read here, i agree that in teh context of gameplay, this title is excellent, except for playtime duration.
my problem (and its a big one) is that the dialogue and story are frustratingly weak. since they spend such a long time giving us plot exposition, for such a painfully [weak] story, it takes away from the whole experience. there are tongue'n'cheek elements, cheesey elements, and moments where they try to be profound, and cutting edge in their thinking.

the games i respect most are those that give equal emphasis to gameplay/story/voiceacting. when one of these elements faulters, so does the game.

This is the best action/adventure/strategy game I have ever played! The graphics are THE best I'v ever seen in a Playstation 2 game.

The story may not be easy to understand (lots of cut sceens and twists in the story) but its a neat story.

The voice acting is very good. It is just like you are standing right there with Solid Snake!

The enemies are very smart. The enemies duck behind cover and jump out and shoot at you, of course you can do the same thing. Sometimes you can knock on a wall and the enemy will come to see whatis going on. The enemies are a lot smarter than the enemies in SOCOM Navy Seals. Just hiding in a box won't out smart these enemyies, you will have to either knock the enemy out (punch or use the tranquilizer gun)or hide in a box among the same kind of box, and don't move!

The levels are huge! Though there are only two levels there are the biggest I'v ever seen. The first level is a large oil tanker and you have to take pictures of the new Metal Gear Ray (giant robot) to prove that the U.S. Marines have built one. The second is a huge oil clean up plant, the plant was built there after the oil tanker was destroyed by Metal Gear Ray.

Solid Snake (1st level) is a much better charactar than Raidon (level 2). But the end of the game you get to fight with Solid Snake (fighting the Tegu-Warrors, not Solid Snake).

And you can turn the blood off!!!!!!!

There are alot of different weapons to use,

M9: A tranquilizer pistol

USP: A very fun pistol to use, it is fun to blow the dishes up with it!

SOCOM: Another very fun to use with a silencer.

M4: Very fun assault rifle, but the AKS-74U is better.

AKS-74U: Better than the M4 because it sounds alot better! The M4 has a tin sound.

PSG1: High power sniper rifle.

PSG1-T: A traqilizer sniper rifle, no real use.

RGB6: Grenade launcher, very fun!

Stinger Missile: Very fun! You can use it on anything!

Nikita: A radio guided missile, but it doesn't has much of a range.

Grenades: Stun,Chaff,Fragmentation, very useful!

C4: Can be placed just about anywhere!

Claymore: Perfect for traps, (a laser trip wire is turned on)add a claymore with C4... a VERY powerful trap!

And many more items.

A must buy game for the intelligent gamers!

The game is very well detailed in story and visual effects. The controls are fluid and the gameplay is great. The major drawback is the lack of playing time. At many times in the game you feel as if you're watching a movie more than playing a game. You'll find yourself running from 1 cut scene to the next and they can last from 5 minutes to 45 minutes. If you want more playing time, save the [money] you would have spent on this one and buy MGS2: Substance. Save movies but alot more to do in the game. Better bang for your buck.

I just got this game today and I wasn't dissaponted, not one bit! It's the best game I have played for the PS2 so far! Great, great graphics, excellent storyline...what more can I say?? Excellent game! If you have a PS2, you've got to own this game! Do it now, 'cause I don't think you'll get a copy 'till next year! Sit back and enjoy: thanks again, Konami!

If you do not own a PS2,sell whatever ...thing you have and buy PS2.Cause when MGS2 comes out and you can't play it,you are going to be one sad kid.This is the best game in the world.When you get shot,you can see the bullet holes.You can say "hands-up" to gaurds and shoot them.And the story is awesome[A robot goes haywire and you must stop it.].Plus you meet interesting characters.This game is going to sell like a lot of copies buy it or else you are going to be missing out on the best game you'll ever play.
