Final Fantasy is a must buy! If you liked Final Fantasy VII and VIII, YOU WILL DEFINITELY like this one too! The characters do voice-overs, meaning they all talk. The magic system is easy to use and its cool. The music is warm, its also cool, lots of nice music that tells you the mood. The graphics are just STUNNING, you will be mesmerized! The party system is nice and the Chocobos, YOU GOTTA LOVE them. The World map is really better than the ones before! IF YOU HAVE PS2 BUY THIS GAME, IF YOU DON'T THEN BUY A PS2 AND THEN BUY IT! POINT IS , THIS GAME IS NOT THE ONE TO GIVE UP!! ITS TREASURE, PRE-ORDER IT HERE FROM AMAZON.COM BECAUSE THEY HAVE GOOD PRICES! PLAY ON GAMERS!
Gets frustrating after the 20th hour, monotonous after the 60th

I'm into my 3rd decade playing video games. I started with role playing games (in fact, I started with Final Fantasy - no number after that; I mean the original). I picked this up as I was getting tired of action games. Graphics are pretty nice, and the story line is decent. However, I find that once I hit the 80 hour mark, and still haven't finished, it's getting awfully stale. And you'll find three of the most inane, stupid, and poorly programmed mini-games ever created in this single title. The most annoying is the Chocobo races - how this horrible crud wormed its way into this title, I'll never know. It looks like it was programmed by junior college kids as a term project; it's completely unplayable, unenjoyable, and gets in the way of a mostly fine game. Stupid chocobos.
Second place has to go to the just as silly, just as unplayable and unenjoyable capture the blue butterlies mini-game. And third place goes to dodging lightning bolts 200 times, consecutively. That's right, you mess up just ONCE, you start all over. If I had known I needed to complete these stupid mini-games to level up my characters, I would never have bothered this title and moved on to a sequel, or another RPG altogether. I swear, I've had more fun painting - it's certainly less painful.
I must say though, this game did succeed in one thing; it rekindled my interest in action games! So, if you like to be infuriated by a game for redundancy, idiotic mini-games, by all means buy this title.
Why you shouldn't buy this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got this game because we thought you would be able to control what types of moves and attacks the characters can do. The thing we really hate about this game are the movies. They literally take an hour. During the movies you get so bored you just want to turn it off. Please listen to us! We wasted our money on this and you don't have to.
Stupid Game

This game is the worst game for the Playstation 2. They should follow the sequels in order. They released Final Fantasy 9, and now they go to Final Fantasy X? What ever happened to Final Fantasy 10? The numbers don't match! That's not right. Second of all, how do you attack? I don't understand the buttons. The cut scenes are cool, but the guy does not respond to my controller movements during them. This is unfair because I want to move the player. The character, Tidus, whines too much. She is definitely not a loveable character. But, the ending makes up for everything, when Wakka gets killed by Tidus. Justice is served. The game should be free. Actually, it reminds me a lot of Super Mario Brothers, the first one, with the same sound and graphics quality.
Hours and hours of fun

Great game, amazing graphics. If you want to get the full experience, I suggest buying the strategy guide to get all the secrets. It also helps a lot with pacing your characters and their levels so you don't get too far ahead or behind and lose interest in the game.
I went through the whole game this way once and then again mostly on my own with Tidus as the loner to get the Overdrive. If you want a fast paced action game, this is not for you. This is for those who can appreciate beautiful graphics and a involved storyline.
Barely even a game; No staying power.

I'm a huge fan of the Final Fantasy Series: of Final Fantasy 1 (NES), 7 (PS1) and 9 (PS1). Final Fantasy X, however, reeks with fanboy stupidity, annoying, repetitive battles, and hours upon hours of boring, mundane, and unskippable "cut scenes" of characters exchanging dialogue. To make a bad situation worse, the voice acting is terrible. Squaresoft found actual voice talent when they localized Kingdom Hearts, so botching their flagship series is inexcusable.
Once I beat the game (which I did, while I was sick in bed with mono for a month), I felt like I'd completed a chore. I was expecting a game, but I found myself spending more time watching unskippable cut scenes than I did playing. Even when playing, all I did was move my character from point A to point B to advance the story. The only sense of interactivity came from not immediately going to point B, seeing if I could talk to a person or find a treasure chest that would come in useful, or suddenly getting stopped to battle a random monster for little to no reward.
The only thing that really kept me interested was the sphere grid system for character abilities. This system is a bold, ingenius move away from the traditional RPG levelling system. There are no levels--only nodes with abilities arranged in a gigantic, complex maze. By defeating enemies in battle you gain moves around the grid to activate more nodes. This part of the game was very addictive.
Overall, however, this title was just a disappointment. The lack of a world map may have been to create a sense of a giant world, but the path through this giant world ends up being a giant straight line. This, combined with the overwhelming amount of boring dialog exchanges, makes this installment of the Final Fantasy series very skippable.

Well this game is killer! I have played the demo and i know all about this game. I even have the import..though i don't know how to read japnese i beat the game. Well anyway. This game has killer graphics and is alot faster! There is nomore atb system that has been in the previous FF's. There is also a system which you can bring a another memeber in at any time, but you can still only have 3 people fighting at one time. Plus the is 3D BACK GROUNDS!
THere is also a sphere board. Instead of getting exp. You get ap and you move across to the board to get hp,mp,skills etc. The weapon system i upgradable like in FFVIII. The story was great(from what i could pick up on the import). The summons also stay the whole fight. They dont' just do a attack then leave they stay there attack, use magic, and such. Then when they get there overdrive they will do there special attack.
There is also the over drive. It is like FFVII when you get hit so many times you do a special attack, but this time you have to push some buttons to get extra damage. You will see if you get this WONDERFUL game. WEll ther you people are. THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!I loved it but i am a FF freak. Well thanks for reading my review.

I got the game a little earlier than most people, and I started playing it yesterday. The game is linear so far, no room to go explore and find secrets and such. I miss that. The graphics are awesome though.. it's definetly not the best FF so far and I've played all of the ones released in the U.S. It's an average FF.
Too many movies

My gosh I wanted a video game, not to sit through hours and hours of video. I'm glad that they brought in voice acting, but the cinematics were too much.
