The games looks amazing, I'll give you that. I'll probably end up getting it, but if it's like 8 and not like the other's, then I don't think it's gonna be that great. FF8 was good for many different reasons, but it should not be a part of the FF Series. Final Fantasy was built around magic, knights, mages, etc. I've played Final Fantasy since 2 through 9, including the jap one's and the only reason that the games are THAT great, is because of the story and fantasy realm. I'm sure 10 will be no exception, the story will be great, with some incredible moments, however since it's more realistic (like FF8), I really don't see it being that "special". Take this for what you will.

GET THIS GAME!

Yo ive played all existing Final Fantasy games and i have alot of favs like FF7, FF8, but this new installment for the PS2 which happens to be the first RPG game and first Final Fantasy game by Sqauresoft WILL BE THE BEST. I suggest that u get the game the week it comes out and trust me the visuals, graphics, sounds are just incredible. You can play Blitzball which is like a underwater football game, and FFX introduces the facial system which shows the charecters facial emotions, u must GET THIS GAME!NUFF SAID.

Absolutely Awesome game!

I have to say this is a game that was worth every dollar spent! It's a game that I will keep for life and probably play again someday! I don't know what the previous Final Fantasy games were like so for me there is no comparison. I think I'm totally biased toward Final Fantasy X. The two coolest aspects about this game, for me, are the Aeons and Blitzball. The other thing I like about this game is the storyline, the characters and the beautiful scenary. I forgot to mention how great the music is also. I've been reading reviews about current and previous Final Fantasy games and the thing that is still missing for me is, the Aeons and Blitzball. I'm also attached to the characters in Final Fantasy X. Even the sequel doesn't cut it for me right now. For me, it's Final Fantasy X all the way!

Killer App

Final Fantasy as a whole has always been my favorite game series, ever since I played the first one on my uncle's old NES. The game was awesome and captivated me more than anything ever had. Now, years later I'm still playing the games and X is the best, it offers voice acting, amazing gameplay and a sweet story to match, its the series best.

Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call this morning (December 20th), telling me that my copy of FFX had come in. I was under the impression that the game wasn't set to be released until January, but I guess Christmas came five days early this year! I've only put in a meager three hours into the game so far, but these are my thoughts so far:

Graphics: As usual, FFX's graphics are astounding. The blitzball game during the opening literally gave me goosebumps. Remember the pod race in Star Wars I? It's like that, only cool. The cinema scenes are as lush as ever, but are by no means heads and shoulders above those seen on the PS1 installments. No, the real show is in the real time scenes. The characters have fully animated faces and take another step towards "is it a real person or not" territory. In fact, the only thing I dislike about the graphics portion of FFX is that only Tidus is displayed while exploring (in FF8, all characters were displayed).

Sound: Voices! I was actually a little worried when I first read that FFX would feature voice actors (Resident Evil, anyone), but I am thus far pleasantly surprised. While Tidus' voice is a bit high, it's by no means annoying. The music, with the exception of the Blitzball sound track, is a bit disappointing, though. Why the hell Square hasn't decided to add a little variety to the battle music is beyond me.

Battle System: The new use of Aeons (summoned monsters) is a vast improvment over their former "cameo" appearances. Even cooler, though, is the fact that characters can be switched out during battles. This option adds a whole new level of strategy to FF battles. The sphere grid is a bit confusing at first, but also appears to be a positive improvement over the former methods of developing your characters. In fact, the only problem with FFX's battle system is the fact that THE BATTLES ARE STILL RANDOM (that makes this a four, not five star game in my book). Random battles are REALLY, REALLY annoying, as they have been for the past decade of FF games! Take a look at Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross for a better (though far from perfect) way to handle battles in an RPG.

From the little I've experienced so far, the story appears to be a vast improvement over the convolution of FF8 and 9.

My first impressions of this game definately make it among the best of PS2 games so far (definately on par with if not better than Metal Gear Solid 2). So far so good!
