I have four small children, so even when I do get to play, I can't devote as much attention to games as I'd like. So it took me about nine hours to beat this game the first time. Figuring there was a lot to do still in the game, I started over as evil. Wow, didn't I just do all these same things? Oh wait, now I'm fighting for the opposite team, that makes it different. Having beat it once, you don't need to learn any moves or gameplay, so it takes about the same time to go through and finsish EVERY SINGLE QUEST on the game. I hate that I was tricked into actually buying this game, but KOTOR II will hopefully make up for it.
A very good game.

The combat interface in this game is GREAT. The graphics are beautiful and our character is given a good amount of freedom.
Unfortunately the game is a bit linear and exploring the "Hero" world isn't very rewarding once you stray off your mission.
However, you eventually get to knock off characters you don't like which was a nice touch, you can get married, buy a house then live in it or rent it. I didn't much appreciate the homosexual option but I guess that's to be expected in today's all-so-enlightened world.
A solid game but not something you'll return to much after you've beaten it.
Entertaining but short

This game is very fun to play through, but doesn't take very long to complete. I spent plenty of time exploring and screwing around and I finished it in about 20 hours. It was an entertaining 20 hours, but still, just 20 hours.
The graphics are very well done, with a lot of attention spent to detail.
The sound is above average fair, as is the voice acting. The townsfolk get annoying after awhile though.
The musical score is very well done, but gets repetative, and the transitions could have been done better.
The quests vary from dumb, to annoying, to entertaining (as you would expect in any RPG). The main story line didn't really suck me in though, and the game really doesn't live up to it's claim to fame ("every decision has a concequence"). Nothing in the game really has a lasting concequence, except for at the very end (where it determines which "ending" you see).
It was a good, entertaining game to play, and probably one of the better RPGs available for the Xbox. However, there are better games out there.
This game BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i spent an hour on the arena quest and i got to the end and i couldnt finish it (because unlike those losers who brag about how good they are at Halo 2 multi-player, i have a job, a girlfriend, and a life) so i had to shut it off, now i have to start all over again because the save system stinks!!!! So this game is being traded for a game controller which i have to replace because i shattered the one i had when i slammed it into my X-box. Thanks a lot LIONDEAD STUDIOS!!!!
Two different catagories

I have heard a lot of people saying that Fabel may be better than Halo 2, however you cannot fairly compare the two. Fable is an RPG, for the gaming illiterate thats a Role Playing Game, and Halo 2 is a first person shooter. These two types of games cannot be fairly compared simply because of their genres (catagories). Fable and Halo 2 are bound to be the best in their catagories. Fable is a brand new type of RPG that allows a player to do anything they want, with a consequence. It is one of the first of its kind; in most RPGs you are a character with a set path that you must complete, but in this game you can do it all! Halo 2 has a set gameline, yes, and it is a great one, it reuses the old idea of aliens anda conflict between them and Humans, but puts a twist on it with the genetically enginered cyborg(the Master Cheif) and the design of the aliens and their strength. In many alien storylines, the aliens are all but invinceable. But in Halo and Halo 2 they can be taken out a lot easier, and they are not all little green men either. I am going to get both of these games for my X-box, when i have the money, and i look forward to playing them both, I hoped this gave the game comparison a clearer view in your mind.
Waiting for Elder Scrolls IV...

In all honesty I was dissapointed in this game. This is a game I've been waiting for a while but it turned out to be mostly hype after all. I mean 4 years for 8 - 15 hours gameplay for an RPG... Plus it is not fully free-form game as I have expected (based on stuff I read about it) - for example movement is very limited - you are pretty much blocked by almost anything that is not flat ground. Compare that to Morrowind for example in which u have full freedom to move around (swim, fly , dive, jump over things, etc...).
I have to say that the game is fun to play though. However, I seriosly suggest renting it, not buying (I played it for the first time and finished in a bit over 10 hours while completing a number of side quests, opening bunch of demon doors and acquiring a couple of legendary weapons).
Good, but falls short of the hype

Don't get me wrong, Fable is a good game, it's fun to play and has the best graphics I've seen on Xbox, but in every other category this game falls short of its hype. For starters the manual is awful, the worst I've seen in ages, it tells you very little about how to play the game, so most of your early play is fumbling around with the rather clunky controls, but this is only a minor annoyance. The real problem with Fable is that you aren't "free" to do what you want, which was the major selling point of this game! The story is VERY linear, and people in town will always be telling you what do or where to go, there's no freedom to do quests when you want. Also, you can't live with the results of your actions, if you fail a mission you MUST start over, I thought villagers were supposed to make fun of you and you lost renown, but that isn't the case. You'll play the same mission over and over until you succeed. Character customization isn't "free" either, basically since you get strength, skill, and will points which MUST be used in that category, every character you make will end up being the same, a jack-of-all-trades. In the end, Fable is a good game that falls victim to it's own hype. If you can forget what was promised by the creators and just enjoy the game for what it is, than you should buy it. Just realize that there is nothing new or innovative about this game, it is a typical hack and slash RPG with amazing graphics.

Fable is a ground-breaking role-playing adventure game from Peter Molyneux, in which your every action determines your skills, appearance, and reputation. Create your life story from childhood to death. Grow from an inexperienced adolescent into the most powerful being in the world. Choose the path of righteousness or dedicate your life to evil. Muscles expand with each feat of strength; force of will increases with each work of wit. Obesity follows gluttony, skin tans with exposure to sunlight and bleaches bone-white by moonlight. Earn scars in battle and lines of experience with age. Each person you aid, each flower you crush, each creature you slay, will change this world forever. Forge a hero based on your actions: Age and evolve a hero or villain through the actions you choose and the path you follow--be it for good, evil, or in-between. Ply the way of the sword, and see your muscles bulge. Weave the dark arts, and witness power crackle at your fingertips. Skulk in the shadows, and watch your skin bleach.
Engage in intense real-time combat: Collect battle scars as you duel with a world of cunning foes and deadly creatures. Master an array of deadly weaponry as you hone the art of blade-craft. Hunt your quarry using subterfuge and stealth. Weave death from the elements, as you harness the dark arts of the arcane.
Build your living legend: Through deeds and actions, build a name for yourself across the land. Recruit allies and followers. Gain glory or notoriety. Make friends and enemies. Interact with a living world of people, places, and event all reactive to you. Hero or butcher? Who will you be?
Explore and shape a living, evolving world: Champion or manipulate an ever-changing land with competitive and cooperative heroes, dynamic weather systems, and deformable environments. Interact with teeming cultures, creatures, and citizens from various towns and cities.
Hone your character with scores of unique skills and extras: Master new abilities and add possessions as you develop.
Never play the same game twice: Once you finish your adventure, go back and try the experience again, forging your character and thereby a new tale with unexpected twists and turns, new skills, powers, influences, allies and enemies.

Let's get one thing straight- I typically despise RPG's. But this game was different. I...I enjoyed it. For the first time, I began to respect RPG's.
Here's Why:
On the + side:
1. Awesome graphics
Simply Breathtaking. My only problem is, night doesn't seem that dark.
2. Fun and varied gameplay
There's so much to do! Go on a quest, go fishing, or even turn evil as you run through a town, killing everything in sight.
3. Great sound
Both the effects and the music are good in this game.
On the - side:
1. The controls
While they felt okay for this game, they felt a little clunky.
2. The story
Even though the developer promised a varied story, it ends up being the same for every game.
Overall, this is a great game and definitely worth the money you pay for it!
Excellent

I bought this game before I knew what the hype was about, so my expectations weren't really as high as most people's.
I absolutely love this game. Though it is somewhat short and linear, there's lots to do and different ways to play it. I've beaten it about 7 times with variations of good and evil and different skills (though by now I can just upgrade about anything hehe), and months after I still can't put it down.
As far as I'm concerned, it's the best game I've ever played and I'm even looking forward to getting The Lost Chapters on PC.
