I thought this game was great but a little short. The best part is proboly the way everything you do effects the way your character looks and how people respond to you. It's not as good as Morrowind, but that game pretty much can't be beat. This is my 2nd favorite RPG right next to Morrowind.

Fable is undeniable fun. The gameplay is smooth and there are many innovative features that make the game stand out from the rest. For instance, the good versus evil idea is played out very well throughout the span of the game (your character quickly develops its own unique appearance). Each quest and deed gives players evil or good points that further affect the player's alignment. If you wanted to, for example, you could terrorize a village and become evil very quickly. Or you could divorce your wife (which is _really_ bad apparently). Yes, I was evil.
That said, the game's downfall comes from its length: the game is painfully short. Having developed my character to significant length, I was surprised to find that the game ended (not to spoil it for you) when I completed the "final" quest. There is no reason why this should be; I expected to be able to continue playing around in the world outside.
In addition, the game is easy as even the final boss presents a relatively small challenge. This is partly due to the fact that players are able to stock up on an infinite amount of potions and food (which instantly heal), giving an unreasonable advantage.
All in all, however, I would recommend the game. Just don't expect a Morrowind.
Excellent

Fable is awesome. It's one of my favorite video games. I love how you can choose to be good or evil. First time I played I was good, and the second time I tried to be evil. But it was too hard for me. I did go on a killing rampage. I killed just about everyone in Oakvale and all the peoples' houses went up for sale. It was really funny. This game deserves 5 stars, but as you can see I only gave it 4. That's because of the whole long loading process that you have to wait forever for everytime you enter a new area. That's the only flaw. Other than that Fable is fun and the best.

This game looks amazing. I love the idea that every little thing you do will have an effect on the game later. The graphics also look amazing. The story doesnt seem as good as Tales of Symphonia, but then again nothing can come close to it.
I don't have an xbox(just a gamecube), but i really want one especially because of this, Suduki,Kameo, Conker, and of course Halo. Xbox is truely becoming the greatest consel out there.
Another Molyneux "classic"

Peter Molyneux, the main brain behind this game, has a tendancy to create games that look flexible from the outside.. that look like there may be different ways of playing the game. Indeed, Fable does offer it's share of variety. For one, I've seen a few other games try to offer the concept of getting married but fail in some way. Fable does do a little better in this respect, but once you're there you're like.. is that it? There's more even, such as buying up other houses and buildings, renting them out and returning later to collect rent. An interesting concept few other developers have explored. But, again, there's not much to it and you're again left with a desire to find more substance out of this game.
The combat system reminds me a little of the Dark Cloud series on the PS2 and the Zelda Wind Waker game from the GC (if you play more of a melee type in Fable). In this respect Fable is not that original. It is more involved than those titles, yet this is also a bit of a downfall. It was a system that could've accomplished more actually with a little more simplicity and common sense.
Another downfall is leveling up your character. You can make your character more skilled or powerful, however you wish to view it. But, by doing so, your character gets older. If you get too old, you die. I think Mr. Molyneux has forgotten that there was a reason why RPG makers left out aging and dying of old age in RPGs so long ago. Not only did Molyneux forget it, he tied the "dying of old age" concept directly to one of the main reasons why people play RPGs- character building. Remember, every time you level up you age. I'd like to be able to work on my character and make it better without worrying about being punished for it later on.
This brings me to the worst part of Fable, but this is mainly my opinion (I say that because I don't see many people talking about this next part). Molyneux's worst tendancy is to create a game that offers different things to do, but one that will harrass the player if that player just isn't playing the game the way the designers or Molyneux himself intended. I saw this trait in Molyneux's old games, such as Dungeon Keeper 2 and it's very present in Fable. If you decide to divert from the main storyline for a while to explore other possibilities (getting married, being a landlord, etc) you are harrassed with the following message:
"Ah, there is an important quest card at the guild for you."
"Ah, there is an important quest card at the guild for you."
"Ah, there is an important quest card at the guild for you."
Over and over and over again, every so many minutes and there's no way to shut this one thing off. No, it doesn't seem like very much at first, not while the game is still new to you. But, it wears thin quickly. That may not be much of an issue to some people, but I found it irritating enough. When one considered everything it was simply the icing on the cake, as the saying goes.
Peter Molyneux's titles always leave me with the feeling that he's more interested in being different with his games than anything else. Creativity and diversity are the main reasons why I prefer RPG titles to any other kind of title. However, things such as getting married or being a landlord are just spice. There's a lot of spice in Fable, but Molyneux needs to realize that adding tons of spice to a rotten dish doesn't make it any less rotten.

Fable is easily one of the greatest games to ever be released. The story of a boy who grows up to become a hero and still wants revenge for the tragedy of his past, it is compelling and very entertaining. The gameplay is excellent, it's not your typical RPG since this plays like an action/adventure game. I love how you can choose to be good or bad and the choices you make reflect on what your character looks like.
The game also plays like real life. You can get married, divorced, have sex and buy houses, even decorate them! The game is so real that you can choose to be straight, gay or bi-sexual depending on who you sleep with. The only thing that is missing is that you can't have children, but that should change in future installments. Another cool thing about the game is that the more evil you get, the more people are afraid of you. But, the more of a hero and savior you become, you are greeted with praise and clapping in every town you go to.
Overall, this game is a MUST HAVE!!! The replay value is extremely high. I have played and beat the game many times and I'm still not tired of it! If you love RPGs or hate RPGs this is still fantastic. I can't wait until Fable 2 is released, which is currently being completed. Get this, it is simply amazing!

I started off as a bad guy, then got tired of all the people booing at me and running from me so I turned into a good guy and I like it better, I accidently have killed a couple of people that were in the mix when I was fighting bad guys but besides that I have mostly good points. BUY THIS GAME, IT IS ROCKING MY FACE OFF!

So, here I am....waiting for three years for the first completely non-linear and tottally immersive RPG from the famous Peter Molyneux. And what do I get for waiting for so long? As you would expect from something so overly hyped; disappointment. I will wake you through the key elements that a truly amazing RPG must have and Fable is lacking.
A)Immersion-'Every choice has a consequence' is the tagline for this game, which is actually kind of ironic being that the exact opposite is true. No choice you make will change the story. I will repeat that, NO CHOICE you make will affect ANYTHING about the core plotline. So you will be helping villagers and saving people regardless of how incongruent it is with your characters personality. If you are looking for a game like Knights Of The Old Repubic, where your choices dictate the direction the story goes, you'll be seriously disappointed with this game. It just leads you along the storyline without any heed to your actions.
B) Open gameplay- There are NO two ways to beat this game. There is one way to complete each main quest and that's it. Absolutely NO creativity on the players part as to how you are going to complete a task. The missions are as dry and stale everytime.
C) Customization- You might be asking yourself "But I thought it was really customizable, with the tattoos and hairstyles and" NO!! Sure, you can get tattoos and change your hairstyle and even gain weight but every player is exactly the same base character. A white kid with brown hair. No changing eye color, skin color, sex, chin shape, NOTHING!! You slap a name on him and off you go. HELLO?!?! When are RPG makers going to understand; to be fully immersed in a fanatsy world you need to feel like you guiding a one-of-a-kind unique character into a world that has never been explored. Not like you are being led by the hand to witness the same story of the same guy that 50,000 other people have already heard. COME ON!!!
D) Graphics- Now this section is very subjective, but I will explain MY quibbles with it. The cartoony and storybook look and feel to the game really take away from the epic feel. It feels more like tale from a mother goose book than an epic RPG in a turmoil ridden land. Overall the look is clean and the lighting is well-done, but the saturday morning cartoon style animation killed the experience for me.
Overall this game will find many fans in the light RPG casual gamer spectrum, but the shallow story, linear gameplay, and lack of immersion will ultimately kill its' chances of making the hardcore RPG fans' 'Best Of' list.

You cannot create a female character
And it is rated M, because you can cut off people's heads, blood flies everywhere, then kick their head around as a soccer ball which is cool, and you can have sex wit ur wife, get drunk and throw up, exactly my type of game!
A must play.

I bought this game when it came out and went through it as a warrior. I just came back to it and played through doing all the weapon quests and getting all of the special weapons. I have to say that it was so much fun to play the second time. I went through as a mostly good hero the first time. The second time I went through as a completely evil character and got Skorm's Bow (Special Weapon quest) before I did everything and played as a ranger/mage. Loved this game...feel that I got complete money spent value. It was an ambitious project the developers created. Would love to see a sequel.
