Best Game Ever?

This title might be the best game ever. The best title for the N64 it is, beyond any doubts.
- Graphics: I haven't played much N64, but, for all I know, this is the best you can get in the plataform. Beautiful enviroment, landscapes, well-designed characters, different places and detailed textures for this plataform. The graphics are hot, I mean it! And you didn't even need graphics, this game would be great even without them. This game will be forever known because it has changed the world of games with such 3D graphics plus the lock-on camera, this game will be forever reminded because of that. Approved graphics.
- Sound: This game has the best soundtrack ever, if you ask me... Nearly every song in this game wins a 10/10 score. I really want to find a soundtrack for this game, because both the Ocarina songs and the in-game songs are awesome. Characters don't have voices, except when they scream, when they're scared and this kind of thing, so the voice acting isn't great. But the sound wins a 9/10 because of the nearly perfect soundtrack.
- Fun: This game touches you with a great story, great characters, great songs. You really feel as if you were Link in the beautiful land of Hyrule, and that makes the game so good that you can't say it's not fun. When you feel like the character, you just can't stop playing, even in the boring parts (in other words, the Water and Fire Temples). The different times you play and the many secrets hidden (I mean it, many secrets, I highly doubt you can get them all!) makes the game even greater, even more perfect.
- Educative: I really don't know why this game is rated E for Everyone... I feel like the game has some scary parts (in other words, the cemitery and the Shadow Temple), so it should be rated T for Teen, even though it has no great violence, no red blood (just green blood sometimes). But you parents shouldn't worry about that. This beauty must be taken to your children.
Overall, there's nothing to say. I don't know what you're doing reading my review if you haven't played this game yet. This is one of those games you must beat during your lifetime (The Wind Waker, the last game in the series, is very good, but it isn't nearly as good as Ocarina Of Time). It might take a long time for you to beat it if you're always busy, because the game is not short, but you must try. It'll be an unforgettable experience to be Link in Hyrule.

The Most Fun And Most Challenging Action/Adventure Game Yet!!

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is amazing!! The plot and storyline are superb (there are some cheesy moments, but not many). The graphics must be seen to be believed and the best I have ever seen on the Nintendo 64. The music is great for a video game. There are enormous bosses at the end of massive dungeons. The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time has great replay value; I have beaten it at leatst 20 times and it has not gotten old. If you are going to purchase this game, however, I strongly recommend purchasing a guide booke. A guide book is almost essential if you want to get all the extras this game has to offer, like the horse, all the heart pieces, gold skulltulas, biggoron sword, etc. A guide book is also very helpful because a few dungeons (namely the water temple) are a little frustruating if you do not know what you are doing. I hope you enjoy this wonderful game!!

Best Game... EVER!!!

This has got to be the best game ever... I have seriously played a lot. Halo 2, Halo, Sims2, F.E.A.R., Half-life 2, everything. I own a DS, PSP, Playstation, Playstation2, Xbox360, Gamecube, DreamCast, and an N64. Out of all of those I haven't yet seen a game that feels as real as the legend of Zelda. This game is just so mystic and pretty it actually breathes life into it's own world making this adventure come true. The graphics are pretty good although I;m basing them on other N64 games not XBOX360 or Gamecube (that wouldn't be fair). There's nothing better than the classics and nothing is the same as the origanal. No matter how many more Zelda games they make they just never seem to be as good as this one or Majoras Mask... even Twilight Princess. The ocarina is really the best thing, you can play music acuratly it has all the notes tuned accuratly almost to real life. I play an ocarina ok. Soproano tuned in C (twelve holed).

This is great get it got it good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could be. The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, could be the single greatest video game creation for any console and any genre. It is that good. It was a huge step to make it the first 3D zelda game, but it was that step that makes it the greatest. This game is tons of fun, with loads of different puzzles, dungeons, and enemies in it. You go from being a weak little boy, and transform throughout the game into a grown up, powerful, and skilled fighter. The standouts in this game are first of all, the fighting. The fighting set up is extraordinary. For example, the 3D allows you to target one enemy, take a stab at him, strafe right, and switch to target a different enemy who may be coming up from behind. And, this works for any weapon, you can target an enemy in the air, and shoot him down with the bow and arrow instead of having to manually shoot at a moving target, which is difficult and tedious. Another thing that really adds to the game is the music. The music is absolutely flawless in this game. Every piece of music in this game adds to wherever you may be. All 5 temples you go through as an adult are great examples of this. The game is challenging, it makes you think, and the entire game as a whole flows very nicely. The cut scenes are great, and the game is full of surprises. By far the most superior game for the N64, and it very well could be the greatest game of all time, but I'm not deciding.

Zelda is cool

Ocarina of Time is a massive, epic Action/Adventure game out for the N64. Many have been tempted to call it the best game ever (just read some other reviews) but I would step back from that. It is still one of my favorite games, despite the fact that I play mostly RPG's. By the way, Zelda is not an RPG, even though you do talk to people and have a sword.

In Zelda you play as Link (Zelda is the princess, not the main character) as you go on a quest to save the world from the evil Ganondorf by freeing each of six spirits from their different temples. You change between times, where you are adult or child Link, and you have to switch often, and do different things in both, and each time has different weapons and items. The time-traveling aspect of the game is one of the coolest parts.

The real-time combat is a lot of fun, and fairly well put together. It involves a 'Z-targeting' system in which you can select a monster and then keep it in the center of the screen and move around it. The fights against other monsters with swords and shields are great as a result. Z-targeting is not perfect, but it works well.

The dungeons are all awesome, and very unique. Each dungeon is mostly based around one particular item or weapon, its own gimmick, but despite that they really don't seem forced, and stay fresh all the way through (although, the last couple dungeons aren't nearly as long as the others, almost like the designers started getting bored). For the most part the dungeons aren't too difficult if you know what to do, but it is very easy to get stuck if you don't, and the game often leaves you on your own to figure out what to do, especially on side quests, so having a good walkthrough nearby is helpful.

The overall story isn't too great (for the most part, "save the princess"), but many of the individual events and side stories are neat. The characters and different races which populate the world are cool, especially the Gorons, which are one of the best races ever. The bosses of each dungeon are awesome, as well as being original, and can usually be beaten by hacking them up, or through the use of special tactics. It's always good to have a choice.

Despite how good it is, Zelda isn't perfect. The graphics, for example, are nice, but they are old, and on the N64. The music is okay, but mostly just ambient, and the classic Zelda overworld theme is conspicuously missing. Having to constantly change which items you have equipped is also annoying, even if there isn't really a better system available. Some would say Zelda has an almost kiddy atmosphere and suffers from an occasional lack of seriousness (I would tend to disagree). And of course, the fairy is annoying, but no reason to like the game any less.

All in all, Zelda is a great game, and a must buy for any N64 owner, as it is one of the best Action/Adventure games ever. If you are looking for an RPG, look elsewhere. This isn't one. And be prepared to get a little frustrated. Zelda is pretty long, especially if you do everything there is to do. Maybe 25-30 hours if you run straight through, but it could take many more depending on how much extra stuff you do, or how often you get stuck. Have fun.

My favorite game of all time!!!

GAME TYPE: Role Playing
SYSTEM: N64
GRAPHICS: Awesome, especially for its time
DIFFICULTY: Moderate, it depends if you want all the items and secrets or not. Not hard just to beat however.
AGE RECOMMENDATION: 12 and up
CHARACTER QUALITY: Love them
PLAYBACK VALUE: There is always something fun left to do!
GOLD CARTRIDGE AVAILABILITY: I have one :P They don't make them anymore but you may be able to find one used.

Link, the courageous hero of time, must save Hyrule and Princess Zelda from the powerful wizard Ganandorf. Along the way Link will meet many people who can help him on his quest, as well as provide items and host mini-games to make it more fun. Can Link defeat Ganondorf and save the Triforce? Buy this game and become part of the adventure! Travel through time to play both child and adult Link. Ocarina of Time never gets boring or tedious, and is neither too hard nor too easy for any level of gaming skill. If you missed it in 1998, it's time to get it and get in on the action! The sequel, Majora's Mask, is also cool.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is so fun. There are lots of mind-boggling puzzles, intriguing characters, and the best weapons. This truly is the best RPG/action game ever made. It's way better than the old Zelda games. I first rented this game then I just loved it. So I bought the game. You get to have all these weapons (they're not too gruesome, they're amazing) and requirements to pass through different places. ON A SCALE OF 1-5, I GIVE THIS GAME A 10!

I normally don't write online reviews, but seeing how peoplehave resoundingly voted Zelda: Ocarina of Time as the greatest gameever, I just had to.

Good call! Being someone who used to work in the gaming industry, it's just so positive to see so many people all getting together to applaud one single game as the 'greatest ever' (and if anything has ever deserved the title, it's this one). But don't forget one very important element...

SHIGERU MIYAMOTO (SHE-GE-RU MEE-YA-MOE-TOE) is the man responsible for this masterpiece. What makes this so darned important is that it's not the only thing he's done. This is the man who created Link and his companions. This is the man who created Donkey Kong, who created StarFox, who created Goombas, who created Koopas. This is the man who gave us Mario and Luigi. That said, it can't be denied that his achievements are understated.

Not one, but nearly THREE generations of people have grown up with Miyamoto-made games. Never in the history of electronic entertainment has a single person had such influence. With so much success behind him, and surely to come, we can only wish Miyamoto the best of health and to his continuing relationship with Nintendo.

With Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Shigeru Miyamoto has not only secured his place as the world's premium game developer (a title he already owned) but also takes his much deserved place amongst the entertainment world's most revered, and beloved, denziens. With movies we have Spielberg, with animation we have Disney. With gaming we're fortunate to have a little bit of both, because we've got Miyamoto.
