Side Quests are Amazing

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 3

This game has it all. Besides the stunning graphics, the compelling story and the great camera angle (ahh yes, the camera angle, probably the most important aspect in a 3-D action game) this game has many side quests. For example, when you become an adult you can get the biggoran sword by trading various items with people. This sword is twice as powerful as the master sword, but you can't use a shield while your using it. You are first given a pocket egg by a lady and eventually once you've traded with about ten people, you get the biggoran sword. Another is the mask selling quest. In this, you travel the world and sell masks to numerous people. After you have completed this task the man at the happy mask shop will give you the mask of truth which allows you to read the minds of these little statues that litter the world. These statues give you hints about the game. Also, you can get the horse, Epona. Epona is not that difficult to get (you have to defeat the head of the ranch in a horse race twice in a row), but when you do get her, you can race the marathon man, collect the 10 big poes to get another bottle, race on an obstacle course (if you win, you get a lon lon cow), use the gerudo targeting range (winning this gets you an enlarged arrow case so you can carry ten more arrows in your quiver). Getting epona is highly recomended, though you don't HAVE to get her. You even need her to get the biggoran sword. But, perhaps my favorite side quest of all, is the skulltaulas. You simply kill a skulltula and take the token that he leaves behind. There are a total of one hundred skultulas, but I sincerly doubt that you'll find them all. I've only found 74 and I've had the game for an entire year. When you rescue a certain amount you get certain things, (a bigger bomb bag, a piece of heart [collecting four of these gives you another health point]...) however, the final present is a let down. When you catch all one hundred (i haven't, but numerous people on the internet have said that that's what you get and since i've never heard anything to contradict that, it's more than likely true) all you get is 200 rupees (rupees are money in Zelda games). That is, fortunatly, probably the only let down in the entire game. You'd be a fool not to buy this game. There are, other side quests that I didn't mention, (such as the magic beans) but I've neglected to talk abou them because I only have so much space and you only have so much time. Heck, you've probably left to read some one elses review by now. Well, if your still here, see-ya.

A True Masterpiece

From the first time you play this game you'll be hooked. It's impossible to say what one thing makes this game stand out as a true classic as everything is so beutifully judged from the action to the puzzles to the general atmosphere. The gameplay feels incredibly natural after just a short time and with an entire world to explore, you'll be playing it for weeks. The learning curve is perfectly balanced so as you progress, the chalenges you face gradually become more difficult without ever becoming overly frustrating. The world of Hyrule itself seems real and has a depth that you won't find in any other game anywere. It really is impossible to fault this game. The only way to discover just how good it is is to actually play it for yourself. Quite simply, along with Goldeneye, this is a game everyone should own.

WARNING - ADDICTIVE!

I rented this game at first, and dreaded to give it back. Now, I own the game and it has taken me a long time to get through it but it's great. The creators of the game spent a lot of time working out the storylines, the quests, the graphics, the areas. It's really as if you are the character. The only thing I don't like about it, is that when its over its over. I would like to have walked around and have people praise my hero-work. (I know, I'm pathetic!)

Simply the best game

Everything about this is perfect. The only thing thats wrong with it is the occasionally un-translated background item or so, but that takes nothing away from the game. The controls are easy to learn and fun to master; the graphics are amazing; the music and sound is great, but all that would be useless, unless the game also had a great story. In the editorial review the pro that the game is light-hearted and so on is right on the mark. I had fun, but I was challenged. I can find nothing to critize, but much to praise, too much to fit in here.

This Game Is Da BOMB!

This game rox! It's got adventure, fun, and excitement. It requires thinking, though, which makes it hard. There's so much to do, even after you beat the game. The graphics are AWSOME, and the plot makes a lot of sense. Buy this game! You won't regret it!

Great Game, but could have been better

Zelda is one of the best game series ever made for Nintendo, and I must say that this game certainly captures the feel of the other games of the series. This is certainly the best game in the series as there are more options here than ever before. There's a lot of good praise on here, so I don't need to repeat that, but there are some problems iwth the game. First of all, most of the sound effects are straight out of the SNES zelda game. I mean straight out! Sounds like the rupee sound, the fairy song, and others have not changed in the least since that game. Also, getting a sword that shoots is very hard. I didn't even find one, but I heard that you could. Since this has been a staple of Zelda games, it is dissapointing that it was not included or made a little easier to get to. Another big problem that I had was with the number of enemies. You never run into more than 3 or 4 enemies at a time. While I understand that they need to conserve memory, this makes for a less challenging game, especially since most of the monsters are easy to beat. There are some points in the game where you are not sure where to go next, because they have left you hanging. Don't let my criticism dissuade you, this is an excellent game and is a must-have for any Zelda-collector or N64 fan.

An Great Experience

The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, is the best game I ever played. It will draw you in, and you will find it is hard to put down the controller. The graphics and depth are amazing, and every room you walk into is different. There are tons of minigames, like bowling with bombs, arrow shooting contests, fishing, etc. The storyline is great, and there are many cut-scene movies while you are playing the game. The sound is also great. It includes an amazing soundtrack and nice sound affects, like the slash of a sword, or Ganondorfs hideous laugh. I would highly recommend this game for anybody, it is the best game you will ever play.

THE game for the N64

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the best game for the N64 yet. It involves a intricate storyline, dazzling graphics, and intense gameplay. You'll find this game the best one you'll ever have. A great stocking stuffer, this one will really please your kids. (if they have a N64) Move over, Mario 64, Zelda has come to claim it's throne as the Best Game of All Time.

A Game For Masters

This is one of the best games! You have to play it. It is definitely the best game in the Zelda series so far. It has adventure, romance, mystery, and SO many subquests. It's about a boy named Link who has a destiny. He lives in Kokiri Village, a little tiny village in the land of Hyrule. Anyway, a little fairy named Navi comes and says that he must meet the Deku Tree. He does and the Deku Tree tells him to go inside the Deku Tree and destroy all of the evil monsters inside him. Link does this and the Deku Tree gives him the Kokiri Emerald, or the Spiritual Stone of Forest. The Deku Tree phrophesies that Ganondorf, an evil desert Gerudo man, is trying to get hold of the Triforce, the essence of life in Hyrule. But in order to get hold of the Triforce you have to get three of the spiritual stones. Unfortuantely, after the tree's prophecy, he died because of the curse Ganondorf had cast upon him. But Link and Navi go on their journey and get the Goron's Ruby, or Spiritual Stone of Fire and the Zora's Sapphire, or Spiritual Stone of Water. Link gets the Ocarina of Time but when he opens the doors Ganondorf gets in before him and he gets the Triforce. Link waits seven years in the Chamber of Time and when he awakes he's all grown up. Rauru, the Sage of Light is there and tells him that he must save all the Sages from their temples and receive the medallions. He receives the Medallion of Light, Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow, and Spirit. But the game. It's definitely one of the best N64 games around!

Beautiful.

Has this game ever recieved a score less than perfect? I doubt it (unless it was reviewed by some cynical-type person who despises sunlight). The Legend of Zelda seems to be the very manifestation of the word "Fantasy". To be honest, this was my first Zelda game. I've always been interested in the series, but when I played "Link to the Past" for the SNES (at a hotel room), I wasn't very pleased. Thus, I never participated in the series until Zelda64 came out.

The tv avertisements were wonderful and do the game justice. I've even heard it called "The Game of the Century". I know for a fact that it earned the title of "Game of the Year". You probably already know all the pros about this game, and I really can't find any cons. I suppose some of the puzzles can be difficult at times (actually, now that I think about it, more often than not, I was required to ask friends for help). The whole sword-in-the-stone thing is very cool, gameplay is easy and fluid, and best of all--fun!

The enchanting scenery is just wonderful. The character interactions are cool, and the storyline is utterly beautiful. For those "intelligent" types of people who prefer dark, gorey games, this one's probably not for you. It's obviously made for those of us who are dreamers.

It's like a fantasy story...dungeons, dragons, swords, shields, monsters, music, princesses, castles, magic...it's like a dream.

From beginning to end, the only word that can probably accurately describe this game is...beautiful.

Well done, Nintendo! I am now forever loyal to the great N.
