Zelda, Ocarina of Time

Zelda is THE BEST GAME EVER! You start out as a young child. It's easy to get money to buy a lot of different kinds of equipment. Once you get through three levels you're already the hero of time. I think my favorite level is the last. It's easy to beat Ganondorf and then once you beat Ganondorf you'll be facing Gannon. But anyway, if you want a game where you can do almost anything you want, it's ZELDA! I'll give you a little tip on the game.....Sheik is actually Princess Zelda. Zelda Fan

When I got my Nintendo 64 at the age of 6, I rushed to the store to get this game. It's about a boy named Link (or what ever you name him) trying to stop an evil ruler named Ganondorf or Ganon for short. Ganon is the ultimate villan in basically the all of the Zelda games. Ganon creates these monsters that try to stop Link from getting to his goal. Zelda is the princess of Hyrule and a very important charecter in this game.
It's a fighing game. Link starts off with the Koriki sword which is in the Hole of Z and a shield which Link can buy at the only shop in the village for 40 rupees. As the game goes along Link fights three bosses Queen Goma and King Dodongo(I can't remember the other boss's name probally because I'm now 11). After Link defeats them he will get the Ocarina of Time and the Master Sword. Also if you want to use the Master Sword you'll have to do it when Link is older( Link can pull the Master Sword out of the pedastal and go into the future of Hyrule or he can go back to his younger form by pulling.
Then you will look for the medallions in the Fire, Forest, Shadow,Water,Sprit and the Temple of Time Temples. Then you will face Ganon like a man and fight for your lives. As being a Zelda veteran, this is probally the Ultimate Battle of all time.
Then you fight him again in an easier form and you have beaten the game. There are tons and I mean tons of stuff I didn't mention in the review like how to get past dungeons and bosses, but this only a review. Oh yeah, there is also more equiment like the Giant's Knife, a sword you get when Link is older in Goron City. There is also the Hylain shield which is the main shield for when Link is older and the Mirror Shield, a shield that can reflect certain kinds of attacks back at the enemey. The Mirror Shield can be used as a regular kind of shield too, but Link can only get it when he is older. The most useful situation that Link can use the Mirror Shield in is the battle against Ganondorf because Link can shield himself from Ganon's thunderball attacks, but it doesn't reflect the thunderballs back at Ganondorf. To shoot the thunderballs back at him use the Master Sword to slash at them and bash them back to Ganon. then he'll bash one back at you so hit it back to him. It's kind of like a tennis ralley going back and forth. When Link is older Zelda will be too. She is actually that person that teaches all the songs to Link so he can warp from one place to the next one. Well it starts with a S. Overall I would give this game a 10/10. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a must have gift for the holidays. So what if the Nintendo 64 is out of style? Just make sure you play this game at least one time in your lifetime.

I hope this review helped you!

my parents bought me this game for my 8th birthday, back when it came out. the pure emotion this game brought me was indescribeable. a few days ago i dusted off my n64 to reminisce of some good ol' days, and this game is still my favorite game of all time. it sends you into a state of mind that makes you feel just at peace(and thats just the opening music). In todays gameing world full of high end graphics and intense realism, the games are missing something you cant describe that makes this game so great. if you play this game i guarantee you will love it...

Great gameplay, some good graphics, shallow story

I haven't played any other zelda games besides this one, so take that into account if I sound ignorant. I just finished playing through this game the second time. I mixed feelings about it.

Gameplay: I am fully ready to admit that it is one of the best games I've played as far as gameplay. The 'action' type RPG is refreshing after playing turn-based games for a while. There are some cons to the 3D style used though. Although the vast majority of the time the shifting views will only help you on your quest, you will without a doubt experience times of frustration when you just want to smash the controller into little pieces. This often happens when you warp, and shift from the 'movie' type frame to the gameplay frame. That's not really a big deal though. The organization of buttons and their respective functions is usually very handy too. There are times when you wish there were more 'c' buttons, but all controllers have limitations. There were also times when I wished I could use the arrow pad instead of the poorly designed analog (I've been spoiled by the playstation controller). Another whine I have is regarding your companion fairy. There were a few times when I found her mildly helpful, but usually when I was really stuck and in need of assistance, she would just tell me the same thing she told me last time, which only frustrated me more. Its a good thing you can find tons of great FAQs and walkthroughs at gamefaqs.com (wink wink).

Graphics: I was very impressed with "Link's" graphics. All of his movements and features are realistic. It is obvious that the same amount of time was not spent on the majority of other characters, however. I was very disappointed at the apparent lack of dedication when it came to making all characters at least somewhat realistic. I would just prefer consistency. The dungeon graphics are always very good. The monsters and especially the bosses were meticulously designed to look menacing. Some of the world graphics were disappointing. The one that comes to my mind is the market, where you rotate from the well (you'll know what I'm talking about). The resolution stinks pretty bad. On other places, like the frame right before that (when entering the town) it is very nice. I'm not sure why there's a difference, though it may have something to do with the fact that the market scene has to move, whereas the second one doesn't.

Story: This is where I feel that the quality drops off. The whole "save the princess from the evil man" story worked at first when RPGs were just beginning, but now developers have a better opportunity to make engrossing stories. This is frequently demonstrated on turn-based games like the FF series. In fact, I feel that a great story has become a staple of turn-based RPGs. Although the story here may be slightly more complex than my initial description, it is predictable throughout the game. Any personality shown by a character is very shallow. I was usually too busy working my way through one of the many incredible dungeons to worry about the story though (I suspect this was the intention of the makers).

So, in conclusion, great gameplay, some good graphics, shallow story. Get the game; it's worth it.

The best!

This is the best Zelda game without a doubt, this is a game I could play forever without ever getting bored. There is so much to do in this game, the game has good difficulty level and it's so beautiful to watch. The music is also amazing.

This game is one of the best games made! It requires lots and lots of thinking. It's really hard but it is fun, it has good graphics and it always has a new secret to find out. If your lookin for a challenging game this is the one! Trust me it's great!

I became hooked on RPG's playing "A Link To The Past" on SNES. "Ocarina of Time" is a worthy follow-up. In brief, if you liked "Link", you're going to love the added depth, difficulty, and improved graphics of "Ocarina". Not too difficult for first time players, nor too graphic and scary for children, yet interesting and challenging enough to entertain older, more experienced players for many hours. Riding a virtual horse is great fun! Use the rumble pack if you've got it. You may want to make sure you have the game book handy though if you want to enjoy everything the game has to offer since some of the clues are obscure and certain items would only be found by chance if you didn't know they were there.

THE ULTIMATE GAME!

There are no words to describe this game,it's simply perfect! It's surely THE BEST GAME EVER! In any console!I don't know where to start from! The great graphics!,the beautiful music, the amazing gameplay, the awesome story, the magical places that LINK goes to?EVERYTHING IN THIS GAME IS PERFECT! The only bad thing about it is that you can't get the Triforce(probably).Plus that it will take you ages to finish it! This game is really HUGEEE! It makes Tomb Raider look like a fuzzy and realy old stupid cartoon! Banzo Kazoie doesn't stand a chance and Mario is nothing compard to THIS! I would rate it with 1.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 if I could! That's all I have to say about this game,it's just perfect! Simply a masterpiece! The sales say so!Almost 10.000.000 copies all over the world are sold until now! And still going! Ohhh and don't forget the new Zelda game that comes out this November and it's calledThe Legend of Zelda:Majora's Mask

5 stars just isnt enough its more like 100!I have never and probably wont ever play a game that comes even romotly close to being as good as this game.As you travel through the majestical world of Hyrule as the young hero Link you will uncover many thrilling, suspenceful and hart-pounding mysteries. No other game has combind Great movie entertainment and game playing fun that can match this one.The creaters of this game and anyone else will have a hard time topping it. So if you have an N64 I highly recomend that you buy this game and save Hyrule! Anyone who tells you that this is not the best game is Dead Wrong!

The best game of 1998

But still not the best ever. That, in my books, goes to GoldenEye. Nothing lacking in this except that fairy is so damn irritating.

Graphics: Eyes blink, castles collapse, monsters fall, fish swim. It's all here. Incredible art direction and visual effects. The cinema scenes are excellent and very well done. Probably the best aspect of the graphics IS the art direction. Castle decortations and hay lofts are just a few aspects of the incredible art direction.

Overall Graphics Rating: 5 out of 5

Play Controll: Changing camera angles are your only worry in play controll. Other than that, it plays as smoothly as a waxed car. Probably the most managable game ever.

Overall Play Controll Rating: 5 out of 5

Game Design: Many large worlds and various creatures make Zelda great. The forest mazes are complicated yet fun once you figure them out. Innumerable characters. Most memorable are probably the rock-munching Gorons.

Overall Game Design Rating: 5 out of 5

Sound:

Sword slinging, creatures screaming, cows mooing, horses galloping. Just to name a few sound effects. Some sound effects are very realistic.

Comments: Without a doubt, the best game of 1998. Zelda is fun, challenging, and a must-have for all video game fans.

ESRB Rating: E containg animated violence. The violence is fairly realistic and too intense for younger players. Should have been rated T.
