Paper Mario, what can I say. First off, I want you to know, I really hate RPG's. Pokemon, Quest 64, hate it. I hate them all. I like adventure games, like Sonic, Zelda, and Mario. But Paper Mario was one of the greatest game I have ever played in my entire life. I rented the game first, to see how it is. It was so great, I bought it brand new, not used (that is very unusual, I always buy used games, not used). Why do I love, well, where can I start. The story of the game was fantastic, it was fun, simplistic yet fun. The story didn't really change, but new things would come up. I just couldn't get enough of it. The world of Paper Mario is huge. There are so many places you can go. There is a forest, desert, rugged mountain, spooky woods, a haunted house, a toy room, a jungle, a volcano, a winter-wonder land, and a couple of other places. The characters of the world are huge. There are countless amount of characters. There are toads, koopa and goombas (good ones!!!), boos, yoshis, and many others. So many characters, so little time!! The enemies you fight are also fun, and there are many of them too. Best of all, you have partners, each of them with fighting skills and outside-fighting skills, which are great. You will usually never use only one character (unless you only have one). The battles are really great. They are frustrating at times, and you really have to think how to act. You also have badges, which allow you to get extra abilities, including fighting abilities, and you can mix and match to make your personal perfect Mario. The graphics are simple, yet great. The world around you is 3D, and colorful, while the characters are 2D, but also colorful. It looks like something right out of a picture book I used to read as a kid. The music is great, I don't know what else to say (I am not good with words). The only problem with the game is that it is really easy to beat. Well, not really easy, but I could do it without help from books or online, and it didn't take very long. But I enjoy replaying it, and finding things I didn't know were there before.
In a scale from one to ten, I would give it a twelve (I know I sould corny). The only other games that I think match up with Paper Mario are Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Have fun!!!
P.S. If you play the game for the first time, don't use any help at all, no matter how hard it gets. Trust me, the game is a lot more fun if you don't know what's coming. =)
The Most Action Packed Game I know.

It is probably the most fun game for N64. It seems like the adventure Keeps going, and thats what makes me come back to my room and play. Thats what I like in a game! I hope that they put out more games like it!!!!
Great for those of lesser rpg abilities (such as me)

I absolutely love this game! this game is much easier than super mario 64, but a god send for people like me who are absolutely hopeless at most of the great games out there. the plot is straighforward (though cliche) and gameplay is simple.
Pros:
4 available saved games
exciting gameplay
simple and straightforward
Cons:
not much replay value
Even better than the original

Paper Mario, which is the sequel to the SNES game "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars" has made the jump to the N64 very successfully. It has all the great RPG elements fans of the genre have come to love.
The plot of Paper Mario is simple enough; Bowser has stolen the Star Rod that grants peoples wishes from the Seven Star Spirits of Star Haven (wow, that's a mouthful). He uses it to kidnap Princess Peach, along with her entire castle, all part of a plot to destroy Mario (the second part of that plot is SO original!)
The game consists of you playing through 8 complete levels, rescuing the Star Spirits (which Bowser has also captured), and eventually facing Bowser himself. All along the way, you collect Star Pieces and other strange objects, and always getting new party members in true RPG fashion.
The graphics of are one of the most unique things about Paper Mario. It's kind of a side-scrolling world turned 3D. It looks a lot like a pop-up book. The camera is a bit of a challenge to explain, but it does function without any problems. Overall, the graphics are very good for an N64 title.
As with most Nintendo games, it has a catchy soundtrack. It's constantly playing, and each world has its own set of excellent tunes, so you won't be stuck listening to the same one for hours.
The controls are easy to master, there isn't any complicated button pushing involved. The only tricky part is during battles, where you can time pressing a button so your attack is extra-powerful. With a little practice, you can get a hang of this too, but after all, it isn't supposed to be easy, right?
The only think I didn't like about this game was that it didn't go on longer. Don't get me wrong here, with all the collecting and exploring to do, this isn't a one-day-beat by any means. Characters will give you a seemingly endless supply of errands to run for them, and those alone will take you several hours to complete.
Anyone who liked the original Super Mario RPG defiantly needs to try Paper Mario. After you're done with this game, you'll be begging them for yet another one.
One of the most addictive RPGs ever!

Mario Mario why so flat i could have sworn that you were fat. Yes mario is just a slice of paper wandering through the 3D paper thin world (does that make sense to you) on his quest to save princess peach. Bowser has made himslef undefeatable in this quest using the star rod that grants any wish and he tried to do so with his friends (Bosses) but you are mario and they all can be defeated easley with the help of friends along the way. the newest feature in this game is you can whear badges to give you powers like extra health and power stomps. once you save all star spirits you can defeat Paper bowser and save paper peach and the rest of the paper world.(luigi is stuck at home sadly he cant help you) but this game is very easy to understand, unlike what i'm writing,it can explain itslef just bu turng the power on. the game may look babyish but it is for all ages the kiddies can just go beet bosses and kill bowser while the experts can gain powerups special powers and right every wrong. you even get to deliver mail and get star peices to get new badges to make you more powerful and you can even save eaten gosts(how do they get eaten easy CHOMP CHEW CHEW MMMMMM.. get the point) this game is a lot of F. U. N. FUN so get it and get thrown from the castle in the sky today
This game is the BOMB

Paper Mario is an extremely fun game. It looks like your old typical kiddy game of boredom, but trust me, it is 100% fun. This game should be called FUN. I could play this over 3 times and love it. It's not that simple to win, unless you play 24 hours. This game takes Mario through a Two-Dimensional, but at the same time Three Dimensional atmosphere with the local Toad Villagers. But Mario already is soon to be realeased for the Nintendo Gamecube. If you have not a Gamecube but have a Nintendo 64, this game is a definate must-have. Obviously it is appropiate for everyone. There is no multi-player game. Here is what is has the pluses at:
GRAPHICS (4/5)
Very good graphics. It is very colorful.
STORYLINE (3/5)
The only plot towards Mario: Save the princess from Bowser.
But, you must also free Star Spirits from Bowser's henchmen.
CONTROLS (4/5)
The controls are good, though, Mario can be quite slow at some points.
FUN FACTOR (5/5)
If you are looking for a good Mario game, get this instead of Super Mario 64.
It is a mix of RPG and Adventure. You slowly gather up more partners to help you out in your quest to get Princess Peach, and they all have they unique attacks. You also get upgrades and buy merchandise, as well as sell them. It also sometimes is funny, especially my favorite character, Professor Kolorado, the australian/britian archeaologist. Get this game, trust me, it has a huge replay value.
One of the best games

Forget drugs, this game will give you your fix. Nothing in my recent memory qualifies as pure fun aside from this. Paper Mario couldn't be much more simple, a fact that merely adds to the enjoyment. Graphically, this game isn't anything overly impressive, but its unique presentation lends to the fun factor. Sound is adequate, and the tunes are very catchy. This is, to say the least, one heck of a good time and highly recommended for all ages--as it's easy to pick for youngsters and an enjoyable interlude for veterens.
Addicting, great interface, easy puzzles, too much talk

After playing many hardcore RPG's on my computer, I had decided to purchase a more light-hearted and simplistic game for my Nintendo. One that I could start playing right out of the box without reading a 100 page manual like many PC games in this genre.
What did I find? A highly addicting game in the form of Paper Mario. I'll admit this is my 1st (yes, 1st) ever Mario game and so far I really enjoy it. The most noticeable gimmick for this game is its unique take on teh graffics. You see, Mario, his pals and his enemies all look like construction paper 2D figures and place them in a very rich and colored 3D environment. You never get tired of viewing this game from this perspective, and in my travels around the mythical land in which the game takes place, there are many locals to visit. I've heard the game is a 325MB cartridge, which I can believe after just viewing a portion of the game.
The Interface is done nicely and many of the controls are self explanatory. What the manual doesn't cover is easily explained on-screen in (for lack of a better term) some tutorials explaining new button features. Some 'actions' are highly depended on your reflexes so certain moves may be hard for those with slow reflexes. There is also a save feature throughout the game which helps the player as are many power-ups and hidden items of Mario lore.
Okay, the story is a tad cliche. Bowser is back and kidnapped Princess Peach along with the Star Rod. Your job as Mario is to explore the land, level by level, thus opening new chapters in this unfolding story until you are strong enough to face Bowser. However, this is my biggest beef with the game....the story is a little too in depth, too long and too cute. When you first turn on teh gaem, you lieterally have to spend 15-20 minutes going through a back-story that sets up the game itself. The cutscenes between chapters are nice too look at, but can get tedious in all this cute banter between NPC's. I found myself just hitting the 'A' button to get past the contstant dialouge that serves no purpose other than drive the story on. Oh, and when any character talks, get used to a constant 'chirping' noise from them. Yes, all the characters have the same voice and it is just an annoying chirp.
The puzzles so far are pretty easy, perhaps they will get harder further into the game....I hope so anyway. But the turn based battles are strategy driven. Yes, you need to know what moves and in what order you should perform them as to save stamina, Flower Points and Hit Points. And again, reflexes help. It is the difference here that you score extra damage against opponents, or defend succesfully.
The stats screen is very informative. Here is the heart of your character. From here you can see all the badges Mario wears (badges are like special items that do different things...pay attention to them, for different combinations make for interesting side effects), his health, points to the next level, coins earned, star points earned, members in your party (yup, you'll meet characters who will join your party...and they have special abilities too that enhance what Mario does in battles), and more.
There is a bit of good natured humor in the game too. some refernces may be over the head of some children, but no harm done if they don't get the inside joke.
All in all, a very fun game in the RPG genre without all the bllod and gore of it's PC counterparts. A good starting point for younger kids, but adults alike. I'm 30 years old, and my whole afternoon was sucked up by this last weekend.
